    Re: 2017 Gaming Plans

Time for an update since I finished a game.

Games Released in 2017 That I Want

    Ghost Recon Wildlands
    Mass Effect Andromedia
    MLB The Show 17
(I think I’m going to wait for a sale before pulling the plug on any of these games. I barely played MLB 16 so I can’t really justify buying MLB 17 before a price drop. I will wait for Mass Effect to iron out some more bugs or PC modders to fix some of the menu issues. I need to wait before buying Ghost Recon because it sounds very familiar to Far Cry 4 which I just finished).

    Games Purchased in 2017

    Horizon Zero Dawn (PS4 -- Hard) – 24 per cent – Level 18
    Pillars of Eternity (PC)
Star Wars Empire at War (PC)

    Games Completed in 2017

Far Cry 4 (PC – Normal – 100 per cent) I’ve played Far Cry 1, 2, 3 and this is probably my favourite in the series with Far Cry 2 a close second. Epic setting. I think they used mountains, elevation and climbing more effectively than any other game including Unchartered. My only complaint was there weren’t more missions/cut scenes involving the primary characters since they were so interesting. Pagan Min and Longus are some of my all-time favourite characters. Just wish I got to hear more from them. 9 out of 10.

Valkyria Chronicles (PC – Normal). Great game if you like turn based strategy in the Xcom mold and wanted your little dudes to have more personality. 9 out of 10.

Shadow of Mordor (PC -- 100 per cent) So many Orcs were slaughtered under my blade. 9 out of 10. I’ll play the DLC one day. Think I need a break for now from all the Orc carnage.

Dragon Age Inquisition (PC -- Normal) A masterpiece that took me forever to complete since I did almost all the side quests. My only complaint if you could call it that is that you didn’t really feel like you had control of the battles because your companions did their own thing. I guess I like turn based combat better. 9 out of 10.

It has been a good start to the gaming year.

    Games Currently Playing

    Here is the problem ...

    The Witcher 3 (PC -- Normal) -- Level 23 -
Ryse of Rome (PC -- Centaurian) -- 24 per cent
Assassin's Creeds Unity (PC) -- 26 per cent
    Fallout 4 (PC -- Hard) -- Level 20
    Watch Dogs (PS4) – 10.1 per cent
Rise of the Tomb Raider (PC) – 6 per cent
    Just Cause 3 (PS4) – 5 per cent
XCom Enemy Within (PC -- Normal)

    NBA 2K16 (PS4) -- Toronto (3-3)
    Madden 16 (PS4) -- San Diego (1-5)
    MLB 16 (PS4) – Toronto (9-6)
    MLB 15 (PS4) --Washington (26-26)

    Retro Gaming in 2017

Old games that I still play and want to finish

    Grand Turismo 5 (PS3) – 54 per cent
Just Cause 2 (PS3) -- 40 per cent (Completed main story)

Oblivion: Shivering Isles (PC) -- Level 30
    Crysis (PC) (7 of 11)
Bioshock Infinite (PC) (Hard, Area 28 of 40)
    State of Decay (PC)
Shaddow of Colossus (PS3) (2 dead)
    Beyond Two Souls (PS3)

    Top Spin (Xbox360 -- Normal) -- Level 18
    NHL 12 Be A Pro (Xbox360)
F1 Challenge (PC) -- Third Season
    NBA 2K14 Be A Pro (PC) -- First Season -- 26 GP
    College Hoops 2K8 (Xbox360) -- First Season -- (6-23)

    The struggle is real

I moved in with my girlfriend (and her kids yikes) so my gaming time is a bit limited. Playing MLB the Show 17 and backburnered Horizon. Trying to keep my focus on those two for now with occasional dabbling on my Steam backlog

              Re: 2017 Gaming Plans

              ***MONTHLY UPDATE***

              CURRENTLY PLAYING
              - Ghost Recon Wildlands (currently have the game, fully installed and downloaded the latest patch last night and will finally start GRW today)

              COMPLETED / 2017
              - For Honor (overall, an 8/10 with excellent combat and fighting mechanics. looks great. good music, sound and voice acting. good single player story campaigns with very good characters)
              - Horizon: Zero Dawn (my second most played game this generation with over 130 hours played on hard difficulty. what an amazing game. easily the best looking game this generation despite a few bad facial animations here and there. excellent music, sound and voice acting. very good story and characters. superb gameplay and combat which is extremely fun to play. overall, a 9.5/10 and my second best game this generation behind only The Witcher III. looking forward to the eventual sequel but first, the expansion)
              - Resident Evil VII: Biohazard (good 8/10 game with excellent visuals, good music, atmosphere and immersion. a step in the right direction but really hoping they go back to the third person perspective because while in general, the first person perspective is fine, during the boss battles, it's bad in my opinion. last third of the game also fell off story wise for me personally)
              - Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 (a poor man's Far Cry type game. visually, looked good. sniping was excellent. gunplay outside of sniping not so much. stealth was good. story and characters start out good but decline and drop off with a bad ending as the game progresses. a lot of technical issues. three big maps but very much misused and underutilized. same with the story and characters. driving is okay but you only have one vehicle and the DLC buggy. towns and world is close to or literally lifeless. played and completed 98% overall in 67 hours. enjoyed it for what it was as opposed for what I wanted it to be. Lydia DLC sucked. above average 6.5/10 game that could have easily been better but oh well)

              COMPLETED / BACKLOG
              - Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare (solid game and better than expected but this was the first COD game that I have played. enjoyed the space battles and really want a full game like this but with the option to be in first person or third person. oh well, that's another story. back to IW, excellent gameplay, solid story and characters. overall good package. good 7/10 for me personally. completed all story and side missions 100%. 2016 was a great year for FPS. of the four that I completed, I would rank them best to worse - titanfall 2, battlefield 1, cod:iw and doom. can't go wrong with any of them though)
              - Mafia III (overall, an 8/10. amazing story and characters with an excellent soundtrack. good gameplay and visuals. very repetitive with some technical issues. can't wait for the expansions)

              PLAYED
              - Hitman: The Complete First Season (purchased and played after I finished RE VII but after two missions, it's just not for me. the ways to kill your targets is great but having to change outfits almost constantly was a turn off for me. if you're an old school Hitman fan, you'll love the new Hitman franchise)
              - Killzone: Shadow Fall (played through the tutorial and two or so chapters afterwards. after playing other better FPS before KZ:SF, I simply couldn't get into this game. looks absolutely beautiful considering that it was a launch title but it's Guerrilla Games so at the same time, it's not surprising either)
              - Nier: Automata (rented from GameFly and played up to the part where the game tells you to adjust the settings. good game but coming off of Horizon, I wasn't interested in playing two games in a row with robot/machine enemies)
              - Sniper Elite 4 (rented from GameFly and played through the first two chapters. good game but simply didn't grab me to want to keep playing)
              - Watch Dogs 2 (rented from GameFly and played it last weekend. gorgeous looking game with good music but everything else turned me off. completed four story missions and a few side missions. didn't like the protagonist, supporting cast, story, etc. hated the melee weapon that Marcus uses and even worse, I literally hate that when using his laptop, he'll literally sit down Indian style no matter what the current situation is. Don't know if this is for the entire game but a horrible design decision. Gameplay wise, in some ways, better than the original but in other ways, worse. Quit after five or so hours and it not being a "traditional Ubisoft style" open world turned me off as well. some of the implementation of things like cranes, forklifts, etc. were cool but overall, this is the first Ubisoft game that simply didn't get me hyped or even interested in it since the debut trailer a year ago. oh well)

              BACKLOG (purchased, downloaded and installed)
              - Assassin's Creed Chronicles India (haven't played)
              - Assassin's Creed Chronicles Russia (haven't played)
              - Axiom Verge (haven't played)
              - Mercenary Kings (haven't played)
              - Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition / xbox one (long story short, my first digital purchase for xbox one...now officially part of my digital collection)
              - Stories: The Path of Destinies (played through a few different paths months ago but accidently deleted my save and have to start over)

              BACKLOG (gamefly)
              - Ratchet and Clank (haven't played it yet)

              BACKLOG (haven't purchased yet)
              - I Am Setsuna (digital, waiting for the game to be on sale for $20 on PSN)
              - Forza Horizon 3 / xbox one (digital, waiting for the game to be $30 on xbox live)
              - Forza Horizon 3: Blizzard Mountain / xbox one (digital, waiting for this expansion pass to be on sale for $10)
              - Shadow of the Beast (digital, waiting for the game to be on sale for $10 on PSN)

              JUNE 30th
              - Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy (will be renting this from gamefly. hope to get it a few days after it releases...I hate Friday releases...ugh)

2017 has been an amazing year for me thus far. Two great games in REVII and For Honor along with the second best game this generation in Horizon: Zero Dawn. An above average/good game in SGW3. Definitely a slow period right now but that's okay as it gives me time to play some games in my backlog.

Wow for the first time in a long time, Ive pretty much got nothing new to play. Ive looked ahead 3 months and there is nothing new coming out that I really want.

Im playing through Alice: Madness returns, will play some of the Bioshock collection, will mix up with some Titanfall MP, but Im basically waiting for 2K18 and the other sports games.

Yeah, kind of the same for me. SGW3 was released on April 25th and the next new game im buying will be the Uncharted: The Lost Legacy expansion. Four months between new games is actually rare for me. LOL. Would count Crash Bandicoot if it wasn't a remaster of 20 year old games.

                          Just completed:
                          - Far Cry Primal - I'm a sucker for the Far Cry formula but very late to the party for this iteration.
                          - Injustice 2 - still play some multiplayer now and then

                          Up next:
                          - Witcher 3 (just started)

Don't know when I'll get back to them:
                          - Mafia 3
                          - Mad Max
                          - Walking Dead Season 2

                                ***MONTHLY UPDATE***

                                CURRENTLY PLAYING
                                - Nothing but I will most likely start Ratchet and Clank next week when im on vacation

                                COMPLETED / 2017
                                - For Honor (overall, an 8/10 with excellent combat and fighting mechanics. looks great. good music, sound and voice acting. good single player story campaigns with very good characters)
                                - Ghost Recon Wildlands (overall, an 8/10. visually stunning with HDR. massive open world. 100% completion in over 150 hours which is now my second most played game this generation. good music (when there is music) and sound effects as well as voice acting. story and characters start out good and have a very good twist and ending but I wasn't a fan of the ending(s) as I was expecting something better. gameplay is good but should have been better. shooting and gunplay mechanics are not as good as in The Division and the non-existent cover system is horrible. knocking out enemies which in turn actually kills them is sad and pathetic. I literally hate Unidad and the fact that clearing an outpost is for nothing since the enemies always respawn is beyond aggravating and frustrating. no jump button is also annoying. the sam missiles are also frustrating because even when you destroy them, they also respawn which completely defeats the purpose of destroying them. dead bodies disappear quickly which is funny as hell despite the blood stain and weapon still being on the ground where you killed the enemy. enemies going to sleep in outposts to where you can knock them out thus killing them, leave the immediate area only to watch the remaining enemies go to sleep and thus kill them as well is extremely funny and horrible AI. RYZEN CPU PS5 FTW!!! sorry but I had to add that in because im sick of either having a beautiful massive open world like GRW with horrible AI and other stuff due to the lack of a having a good CPU or an MGSV situation where the enemy AI is excellent but the world is empty, dull and boring. if PS5 releases in late 2020, I better be getting both and no, I don't want to wait and pay more for a mid gen upgrade. Sony and Microsoft want to be like PC's then give us what we want and should have and take the ******* loss. the multimillion dollar companies will make it up in software and live/plus memberships. sorry for this little rant but man, was I pissed off a lot during GRW. And even more so when I started Narco Road to where both expansions are on hold. Such a shame too because I loved all the missions, side activities, collecting intel to get everything on the map as well as the location, story and characters. just too many problems that frustrated and aggravated me to where as much as I could have easily given the game a 9/10, I simply couldn't justify it.
                                - Horizon: Zero Dawn (my third most played game this generation with over 130 hours played on hard difficulty. what an amazing game. easily the best looking game this generation despite a few bad facial animations here and there. excellent music, sound and voice acting. very good story and characters. superb gameplay and combat which is extremely fun to play. overall, a 9.5/10 and my second best game this generation behind only The Witcher III. looking forward to the eventual sequel but first, the expansion)

                                - Forza Horizon 2 / xbox one (waiting for the game to hit $20. was $20 a few weeks ago when FH3 was $30 but I didn't have any interest in the game until I saw the $5 price tag for the Storm Island expansion and after watching a few videos, well, here it is)
                                - Forza Horizon 3: Blizzard Mountain / xbox one (digital, waiting for this expansion pass to be on sale for $10)

                                AUGUST 2017
08/08 - Hellblade: Senou's Sacrifice (granted, im waiting on reviews and impressions from a friend who already pre-ordered the game. a few things in the game im not excited about so im taking a wait and see approach)
08/15 - Matterfall (oh hell yeah. this is easily a day one buy as Housemarque is by far the best indie developer who deliver a gameplay experience like no other. can't wait)
08/22 - Uncharted: The Lost Legacy (way more hyped for TLL than I was Uncharted 4. can't wait and best of all, this comes out during my vacation week. yay me!!!)

2017 has been an amazing year for me thus far. Three great games in GRW, REVII and For Honor along with the second best game this generation in Horizon: Zero Dawn. An above average/good game in SGW3. Definitely a slow period right now but that's okay as it gives me time to play some games in my backlog.
