Lost in all the halo hype was today's release of EQ2 on PC. Anybody playing it? I think I'm one of the only MMORPG nerds on these forums, but I can live with that.

I installed it and am attempting to.

But I keep crashing (well it quits out) to my desktop after it loads the zones, etc.

I installed the newer versios of dx.

Now I am updating my gcard drivers.

Wow.
I updated my drivers and now my computer RESTARTS instead of crashing to desktop in the exact same spot.

Perfect.

It does not make any sense, Joint Operations Typhoon Rising plays just fine after my updated DX and drivers. Yet EQ restarts my computer for no apparent reason at a loading screen.

I too am a nerd. In fact my nerdiness is waiting for the last 3% of WoW's open beta client to download after 24 hours. I'm gonna try out WoW first and make a choice. I played EQOA for over 16 months and some EQPC for a little while so I'm gonna wait on EQII till i get a taste of WoW. I figure I'd have a pretty good grasp of EQII if started up after WoW's release so EQII is kind of my safety valve lol.

I too am a nerd. In fact my nerdiness is waiting for the last 3% of WoW's open beta client to download after 24 hours. I'm gonna try out WoW first and make a choice. I played EQOA for over 16 months and some EQPC for a little while so I'm gonna wait on EQII till i get a taste of WoW. I figure I'd have a pretty good grasp of EQII if started up after WoW's release so EQII is kind of my safety valve lol.

WoW is pretty fun...my wife and I both have beta accounts on Test Server 7. I'm on there as Werewolf when I'm on.

I am debating getting it. I just upgraded galaxies to Jump to light speed. I have 3 galaxies accounts. Thinking about dropping 1 to use for Everquest II. I have never played the everquest games, but it seems like it may be worth a try.
