Re: Player Unknown's Battlegrounds
Not sure. Logged on last night after not playing for a week or so. Had 24,000 points, bought two crates, both required a key to open.

Re: Player Unknown's Battlegrounds
I googled it. Only one type of crate needs a key to open it. The Gamescon invitational Crate it is called, all other crates open and are purchased with BP. You have to pay $2.50 for the Gamescon crate. Not sure where that crate comes from but by the name of it I am sure we can figure it out. No biggie as all the other crates are free. Hope this helpsPurple people eatersComment

Re: Player Unknown's Battlegrounds
There is new gear in the Gamescon crates that you cannot get in the regular crates and yes Gerg that is pretty dumb to charge for them as they are only cosmetic. Still love the game and enjoy it but wont ever be spending real money to buy cosmetic items in any game.Purple people eatersComment

Yea I remember the Games on crates from last year. If I remember correctly, you at least had a choice to buy them (with the known fact you also needed to buy a key with real money to open them) or buy a crate with BP that you could just open.
I'll have to log in later and check the name, but it was not Gamescon crate. I also didn't have a choice. Hit "buy crate" or whatever it said like normal, also the only option, and ended up getting back to back crates that required a key to open.
I'm not making a mountain out of a molehill here. Just voicing my displeasure for shady tactics.

Re: Player Unknown's Battlegrounds
There is still crates which don't require money(buying keys) to open. If you CHOOSE to buy a key for a chance at special clothing then that's your option but you can still open the generic crates for clothing.
For me it's a fine system, because they have already said none of the paid items will benefit camo wise in anyway over the generic items. So it's really up to you as a player if you want to differentiate your character a little more by paying for those special crates. I've bought 2 keys so far.
Side note, sell the gamescon crates. They are going for roughly $3 to $4 a piece. So if you don't plan on opening them, sell them and make a little money (I've sold several and made roughly $15 bucks off crates).
They are basically giving you free money to make just from playing the game.

Yea I'm with ya. Again, I truly don't care or mind the crate system, especially since it's all cosmetics and when you do buy a key, your paying for a chance to get a rare piece of clothes.
It's just the fact that they try and push it on you and what you used to be able to just open now requires money. At least give an option: use BP on crates that also require a key, or give me the standard crate that doesn't.

I've been playing really well as of late, mainly because not streaming my PC runs much better. So I checked my rank today and in duos first person (mostly what I play), I'm liking where I'm at considering how many less hours I have compared to the top 10 boys.
Top 2.79%
13 Hours this season

Spoiler
I ordered my new build today so lots more videos of killing carnage will be coming soon!!
Ryzen 1700
MSI X370 Pro Carbon
16gb Corsair Vengeance 3000 DDR4
EVGA Supernova G3 650 Gold
Corsair 270R to house it all
Upgrade to a Volta GPU later in year!Last edited by Phobia; 01-27-2018, 01:25 AM.Comment

At least I'm not alone [emoji119]
Article does a great job of laying out the problem with the current system. The problem is not that microtransactions are a thing, it's that you no longer have a choice.

Pretty sad that 1 mil people were banned from the game in just feb and 99% of the banned player base was china. http://za.ign.com/playerunknowns-bat...are-from-china
Simple solution would be to disable the Steam Market for the game until they can get a good anti cheat in place however that wont happen because then Bluehole loses all the money they get from the crates and keys. Not sure if they also get a part of the Steam Market prices as well but if so that adds to the "why they wont" list.
I have been lucky and in all my time playing I seen only 3 cheaters. 1 was the video I posted in this threat, 1 was a aimbot where this guy with a pistol killed me and another player with a headshot from a postol from about 400 yards away, and another was some dude standing in a shed with a shotgun aiming randomly and killing players.
I still very much enjoy this game but the player base is slowly dropping and many are hanging it up due to the sheer number of cheaters. That's why these limited time crate events and such are leaving a bad taste in peoples mouths.PS4 Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/candyman5os

Re: Player Unknown's Battlegrounds
New patch ruined positional audio for me!
Here is some before and after sound clips highlighting the audio changes. For me it's been terrible, like many posting in this reddit thread.

Anyone play on Xbox? I need tips for lasting longer. I always end up on a team where everyone dies before me. I'm still new to the game and learning the nuances.
