This game is fun. This is my favorite favorite game so far in 2018.

Had a clear shot at one alarm and just needed to do a takedown from above on a guy to manually disable the second alarm. I was perched just waiting for enemies on the ground to walk away so I wouldn't risk anyone hearing me takedown the one guy, when all of a sudden, there's shouting and gunshots. Turns out a bear chose that exact moment to attack some of the guards.

While everyone is running off to the east side of the compound to fight the bear, I took a shot at the one alarm and did a quick slide down a ladder to take out the second alarm. During all of this, a nearby plane came swooping in (I didn't have Nick as a GfH) and did a straffing run or two, leaving just one lone guy left when all was said and done. A quick headshot and I had a no alarm, no detection outpost capture with just two bullets fired, haha.

LOL classic Far Cry. Things never go to plan and sometimes it helps.

Things never going to plan is the truth! I've been playing Far Cry 5 with the same mindset like I played Ghost Recon Wildlands, where I prefer stealth, surprise and lots of recon.

When I approach a cult outpost, I like to find the highest nearby ground I can and scout the OpFor with my binoculars. Get an idea of where all the guards are and where the alarms (and how many alarms) are. From that point then I devise my strategy for assaulting the outpost, which direction I'm going to attack from, which guards I can safely take out from distance via sniper without alerting anyone else, which ones I can get in close enough to take out via manual takedown, etc.

Yeah, for the most part none of my plans survive beyond the planning stage. Once I reach execution stage, they pretty much all go to hell in a hurry, lol. And yet it's moments like that one the other night where a random bear attack and a random nearby plane that decides to do a straffing run that makes an outpost a complete cakewalk and I just sit there laughing at how entirely not according to plan everything went and yet ended up working out FAR better than I had ever hoped it would.

God I love this game. Even with any bugs and issues it may have, I love this game!

That sounds really good, way different than my strategy. I roll up to a high place, locate a couple guards. Shoot an arrow or snipe with my silenced 50 cal. Then pull out the M60 after they've noticed me...always loved this gun from COD and raise hell. Alarms? Wait for reinforcements after someone sounded the alarm and raise hell on them also. Think I may try your way, I didn't even know you could shoot the alarms btw.

My approach is similar to yours, but I always try to place a proximity mine or two on the road leading into the outpost so those reinforcements don't *quite* make it there.

Ok. The “forced capture” parts of the game are definitely the most annoying parts to me. 😡

Ooh, I really like that idea! I think that just entered my list of things to do while taking an outpost. While I try to stealth outposts, it almost never lasts as someone either spots a body or I either entirely miss a shot or only wound and fail to kill someone, then it becomes a gunfight. So having a proximity mine guarding against reinforcements is a great idea.
