I Fixed the FPS drops in Anthem.

so after the patch my fps was tanking. as i have seen with many others posting here today.
it would be fine then randomly drop to 0 for a second, then maybe 1 or 2 fps, run fine then tank again. it would also crashed once. i was about to roll back my drivers but tried a couple things first, im unsure which one of these specifcaly fixed it but you can try them all or one at a time and see what works for you.

in your audio drivers UI or whatever it is you have, change the default format to 24bits 44100hz(studio quality) (edit3 you can drop it to 16bit 44100) mine was previously set to 96000. i had audio stutters during loading and other weird stuff. might also fix audio drop out. had no issue with audio at all since i changed it.

in your nvidia geforce control panel (not geforce experience) go to manage 3d settings. program settings tab. choose anthem. texture filtering - trilinear optimization ON. texture filtering quality - PERFORMANCE. texture filtering anisotropic sample optimization ON. power management mode - Prefer maximum performance.
(this was wierdly set at optimal power which i think might have been a mess up on nvidia or anthems end leaving it as a default setting? i have never had it on that setting before.)

go to control panel>system and security>advanced system settings>performance box [settings]>advanced tab>virtual memory [change] make sure your pagefile is set to your SSD and not ur HDD. mine was set to my old hdd and not my ssd where windows and anthem are installed.

ill be posting a few screens to help out and format this a bit better but posting now so some people can fix the game like i have. i really hope this works for everyone or atleast a few people. goodluck freelancers.

Edit: just wanted to add that I also completely closed dragon center(manages my laptop functions like RGB keyboard. Overclocking cpu and GPU. Etc) as well as SteelSeries which does other laptop related cosmetic crap. If your anything like that. Close it.

Edit2: would also highly recommend changing in the NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL: TEXTURE FILTERING - TRILINEAR OPTIMISATION ON. TEXTURE FILTERING QUALITY HIGH PERFORMANCE. and this one I think makes a massive difference. MAXIMUM PRE-RENDERED FRAMES 2. Now U can try drop it to 1 or 3 or whatever. Maybe test it out. I set mine to 2 and the game is running an infinite amount better than it was this morning before screwing around with this stuff.

Just to clarify if you are getting 60 fps down from 80 this stuff probably won't help you. If you ARE getting fps dropping to zero and random 5 fps spikes. Some of this stuff might help. I'm glad a lot of you have fixed the issues with this info.

I saw that. Thanks. I don’t even have a “geoforce control panel” on my pc though and I’m having trouble finding it anywhere. I think I’ll just wait for the next update. I don’t want to mess with too much and it’s obviously something they did so hopefully it’s fixed quickly.

Seeing a lot of new players online today. Feels good helping the noobs out. I solo'ed a Titan by myself, none of the noobs wanted to help me. Not that I blame them though, what is a level 4 player going to do to a Titan ? In about an hour of Free roaming, nabbed 30 loot, half of them epic level. Which brings me to another thing. All these new players instantly flying off after they kill everybody instead of opening the loot chest. Saw at least 8 noobs do that. See a lot of them not harvesting materials either, they just flying right passed them.

They have a decent tutorial explaining things in the beginning of the game. It isn't in depth or anything, it is just basic and to the point. Crafting is basic in this game anyway. When you are in the forge it tells you need X amount of parts to craft this item. You either harvest the parts needed by exploring Free Roam or while doing missions. Much easier to do in Free Roam though. You can also can go to the store and buy the needed materials. Cheaper just to find the parts yourself by exploring.

Some parts comes from plant looking things in the wild. Some parts just come from broken down equipment just laying about in the wild. Others you get after clearing an area of enemies and it is in a treasure chest. Not hard to see a treasure chest since the icon pops up on screen letting you know where it is. Spend a good hour free roaming you will collect a ton of stuff just by exploring.

Just unlocked my 4th and last Javelin. I saved the Ranger for last. Spent an hour free roaming with it and built it up to a world destroyer. Eventually I will build up my Interceptor. My storm and colossus are already built up. Storm I built up during the main story line. It is my favorite out of the 4.

Storm is probably my favorite too. Between pc and Xbox I’ve unlocked them all but I still haven’t tried colossus. They are all a great time to play with though. That’s for sure.

I haven’t really free roamed at all. Sounds like fun.

Getting much better drops now then I was pre-patch. Getting blue (rare?) items on missions and free play on occasion, before it was nothing but common or uncommon. Smooth experience the last few times I played. [emoji106]

I think I’m close to winding down the story. Not really sure though. Ended up buying this on pc before Xbox since I’ll be out of town all week and can play on the laptop. I still haven’t seen anything over rate except for a couple things that I’m pretty sure came with the game purchase.

Found a sniper rifle that essentially blows things up last night. That was a good time.

I haven't been able to sign into origin at all. Couldn't late last night, couldn't this morning either. Keep saying online login not available. Apparently other people on Reddit and Twitter can't either. Told Anthem community manager, he said tell EA Help website. However odd thing is, EA Help website is down too. Just tried it again, both still down.

So Origin is finally working again on PC. Another 5GB Anthem patch was released today. Nvidia released another Anthem patch yesterday, which would be Nvidia's second patch for this game. So two patches in one week from Nvidia and 2 patches in the same week from Bioware.

I've had an absolute blast playing this game! I definitely want to see new IP's make their mark, tired of the same games from generation to generation, it's time for new blood.

So I played some more today. Free roam is definitely crowded now. Which is cool, because for the longest time I could fly around for hours and only come across 2 other people. I don't understand the point of this game having 2 stores in the fort, considering they both sell the same stuff.

Playing today I noticed different colored banners hanging in the fort. Don't remember seeing them before today. The amount of epic and above loot seem to be toned down since Thursday. Currently having the problem of the game hanging every time I try to exit the game. Always have to alt tab out and close it via task manager. Which is weird because it never was acting like that before they started patching the game.

Nvidia seemed to have tuned the graphics a bit. They look a bit more better in certain conditions. I know for you consoles players, they finally turned on HDR for you guys with today's update. Going to need some more variety in these world events. Currently every world event is nothing but wipe out scars, wipe out outlaws or fight a giant. I must say fight a giant occurs way too often to be honest.

The graphics are insane and definitely have that attraction to it that constantly make me want to play this game just for I can look at the pretty world. Game is basically a Destiny clone combined with Mass Effect's weird NPCs and the over abundant codex files. More power to anybody who read all that stuff. I be finding those codex tablets everywhere in the world.
