But Nazis, heck yeah. A WWII game without Nazis is like a sandwich without any meat. Nonsense.

Right on man. And my family heritage is German born Jewish. My last name means "Heart of the Mountain" in German.

My grandfather was owned a chocolate factory in Germany before the Nazi's took it all away and murdered his first wife and 3 children.

I believe it's just for multiplayer for COD due to a German and Austrian law.

No need to make it for the entire world to satisfy German/Austrian law. Make it for the world and let it be censored for that market.

Time constraints and costs can be major deterrents.

They probably realized they would lose more sales if Germany and Austria banned the game versus a few people unhappy multiplayer got changed a bit.

Not really buying that reasoning at all. Games require censorship in Australia and Germany all the time and don't get censored for the entire world.

Pretty much any game involving Nazis or other non-traditional content is always censored for those markets or they ban it, like GTA in Australia for example.

Right, but these are single player games. As far as we know the swastika is still included in the campaign.

Re: Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

This is probably due to part of the anticheat mechanisms, so you couldn't, say, reskin a bunch of stuff to clear so you could see through walls, reskin enemies bright orange and the like. So games usually have some form of checksum to insure all players are using the same version. So you either redo the entire anticheat system in place, creating a big loophole you have to test and retest and then test again, or you just make the symbols the same for all.

You could bake in those skins for Germany/Austria/wherever and just lock them away from being used, but I'm not sure if the law would even allow that (can you include a swastika even if it is not displayed?), and even worse someone figures out a way around that and you end up with a Hot Coffee situation and are then at the mercy of the government.

                            There will be no multiplayer.

Machine Games since taking over has chosen to put all resources towards making a great single player; a lot of ex-Starbreeze devs and that's what they do best. Bethesda has also said they won't force them to include it or get another studio to do it.

I would love to see another Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I played that game so much on the original Xbox.

I would love for some co-op, that was a blast.

Weird; it's 2017 and Doom and Wolfenstein are my favourite single player shooters.
