I just want one month where I don't "have" to buy a new game, please?

Can my broke, no will power having, *** get a break?

    December-KOTOR 2

    January- Suikoden 4

February- Champions: Return to Arms, Xenosaga 2

    March- Jade Empire

April- one or both of the baseball games.

May maybe ??? please be May or June( Nah, not June-I bet Ncaa football 2006 is going to come out in June next year). It sure as hell isn't going to be July or August. May, I vote for May to be- NO NEW GAMES MONTH-<NO MONTH GAME NEW> <NO MONTH GAME NEW>so we can all catch up on all the rental games we haven't got around to renting.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

    hehe

I would just like one week. I work at Wal-Mart and it seems like atleast 1-2 times a week I buy a new game. I can't just help myself when I pass by electronics and I see all these great games that need to me to play them. Bad thing is I've bought so many I don't have enought time to play them all!

Re: I just want one month where I don't "have" to buy a new game, please?

        Guys I sympathize...

I have bought almost every EA and ESPN sports title for the past three years. I had this thing where I couldn't not be playing a season/franchise from a major sport. And I'd get bored with EA's game and trade it for SEGA's and a few months later I'd get bored with Sega's and trade back for EA's. Ebay allows you to switch at a lower cost than EBgames or gamestop would but it still cost money everytime I wanted to switch.

Lately I realized there was really no point to all this since with all the switching and having so many games going on at the same time I hardly ever finished a season in any game much less get really deep in a franchise. For this year, I had decided to stick with one game in each sport so I bought them all when they came out with the express intent to figure out which ones I liked best within two weeks so I could sell the ones I didn't choose at almost full price. I still think it was a good idea but something went terribly wrong along the way...

First off was NCAA 2005. Man how I was anxiously awaiting this game on my XBOX. Well most people know by now that the XBOX version was a disaster. I sold it, bought 2003 and 2004 back for a low price to choose one of those and stick with it but I had a slip and bought 2005 back thinking I can fix those problems with sliders. That didn't pan out. So I sold again. I also tried converting a Madden 2004 PC to use NCAA teams but I can't get into the game on PC and I want my polls/recruiting/BCS. Lately, I've been told that the PS2 version is fine and doesn't have all the problems. More on that later.

Then came the NFL games. That one didn't bite me in the *** like NCAA had. I figured out that I preferred Madden after trying both. No issues here. I'm actually pretty pleased with this because even after three months I still enjoy it very much and don't miss ESPN at all.

NASCAR worked out very well too. EA made a very addictive game and I've never played so much NASCAR in years past.

Then it was hockey. DAMN HOCKEY!!! BTW I'm in Canada so hockey is VERY important to me. NHL 2004 had been very nice to me after some tweaking and I thought NHL 2005 would be great. I loved Dynasty mode so much!!! I still tried ESPN 2k5 which is a very solid game and I thought I'd keep it for the year since EA relly FU**** up NHL this year. Come on, Hitz had less hitting than that. So I sold NHL and kept ESPN. But then I got big time bored with the franchise mode and some pretty serious issues surfaced (the CPU never shoots with its defensemen, and it can't manage it's rosters so you have to turn off injuries and CPU trading or your franchise will eventually freeze on you with no possble remedy!) I missed NHL's Dynasty big time so I tried it again to play with sliders and try and fix it!!! I can't seem to learn!!! Of course, it was still a crappy game so right now there's a hockey gaming void in my life.

NBA games came around. I tried ESPN and liked it but I didn't play much so I sold. I'm not a big fan of pro hoops. College is another story though. I decided that there was no way I'd play a franchise in all these sports so I dropped pro hoops in a second. I also tried FIFA around the same time, only a rental this time. As usual with FIFA, I couldn't find a suitable difficulty for me so it was always too hard or too easy. Even on the too hard level I'd dominate possession and shots but I couldn't score for the life of me and would lose every game. So it was a no-brainer: No buying FIFA this year!

I order ESPN college hoops and should get it in the weeks to come.

THis brings us to right now. Usually I'd have a 10 or so game rotation at this time of year but now I only have Madden and NASCAR 2005 with ESPN CH2k5 on the way. All this buying and selling has left me has cost me quite a bit of money along the way too.

I succeeded in getting it down to a number of games I can play significantly but there is still a problem: I love hockey and college football more than NASCAR and the NFL. So the itch to play those sports has had me contemplating getting a PS2 to be able to play an enjoyable NCAA Football 2005 and give the new Gretzky game a try. So that'll be quite a few more dollars coming out of my pocket. The good news is that both Madden and NASCAR are also on PS2 so I can trade my console in and get the games for PS2 instead to save a little money over simply buying a PS2 and keeping my XBOX. Another factor that helped me decide was that I love the Final Fantasy Series, which I can't play on XBOX.

So that was my own story of being a sports-gaming addict. I hope this switch I'm about to make turns ouit for the best and I can truly settle and stop buying/trading games for quite a while. Believe it or not, even though this post makes me look like a hopeless gaming addict, I only play about 10 hours a week!!!

So my question to other people who can't stop buying games is this one: Do you actually play all these games significantly? Also, if you want to keep buying all teh games you want and not keep them indefinitely when you've gone through them, I advise you to sell them on EBay, you'll get a lot more than what Gamestop or EBgames would give you.

I'm just glad there's other people out there like me who spend alot of money on videogames. But I don't have any bills to pay really besides car & insurance. So I usually spend about 70% of my paycheck on videogames. I bought the X-Box over the summer but I have become bored with alot of the games. And I'm not at all a Halo fan. But right now I'm spending my time back on my PS2 with GTA: SA and Raw Vs. Smackdown. Their both awesome.

Damn though there seems to be alot of Gamecube titles out there that look fun. But the bad thing is I already had a GC and a PS2(And a crapload of games.) before my new PS2 that I sold on ebay to buy a new PC.

I might have to go back to strictly PC Gaming. Cause I'm wasting my money going from one console to the next. But with the PC there isn't a huge market out there right now like PS2 and Xbox. Hmmmm. Decisions decisions.

I might have to go back to strictly PC Gaming. Cause I'm wasting my money going from one console to the next. But with the PC there isn't a huge market out there right now like PS2 and Xbox. Hmmmm. Decisions decisions.

Not to get too much off on a tangent, but how old are you? I'm guessing 17 or 18? I have a good friend who's in a lot of debt 'cause he used to buy a couple DVDs a week for a year or two. He has well over 500 DVDs and nothing to show for it. How often does he watch them? Maybe one movie a week but I'm pretty sure not even that often.

If he would've bought only half those movies he probably would be in a lot less debt. He drives an older car, lives at home (23) and doesn't have money a lot. There's nothing wrong with any of that but if he hadn't spent all that money he may be driving a newer car or at least might have some money in the bank.

Why not spend 30% of your paycheck on games and put the other 40% in the bank? I'm sure 30% can buy 1-2 games ever 2 weeks which should be more than enough.

                    **end tangent**

Good tangent. I'm in the same boat as Vall, I work, live with my parents and I'm paying my parents back for my truck repair bill. I can get a game a week or something like that, but I usually just get 2 a month, depending on the month. Its hard to not get a game, especially when there's a lot of hype around it, but sometimes you have to force yourself not to buy it. You gotta think about the future, like college, saving up for an apartment, **** like that.

I'm only 20 and I do put 10% of my paycheck away. And spend the rest on stuff like games, movies and clothes. And I'm no where near to being in debt. But I do know alot of people who are in debt cause they spend alot of money on games and movies. But I think the difference is the fact that I pay cash for everything I buy rather than putting it on a credit card.

I don't see anything wrong with spending money on games and movies. I figure I earned the money working hard and I deserve to spend it on whatever I want.
