Re: Assassin's Creed Odyssey
It's a really good game. I put in about 105 hours with the base game, I still need to go through the DLC. There were a few times where it did drag a bit though, but I got through it.Comment

Re: Assassin's Creed Odyssey
Having a lot of fun with this game. It’s an open world sandbox that once you get going, especially when you get a boat, it’s a lot of fun. The story is inconsequential for me so far. I usually prefer a more linear and meaningful story but this is a good change of pace. I’m level 11 right now and my son is loving it and is already level 20.
My one disappointment is the cost to upgrade gear. If you find an epic or legendary item the cost to upgrade just isn’t worth it. With 50 levels and probably going up a level every hour, it’s way too prohibitive to waste time upgrading. Right now it would cost me over 1000 gold to upgrade my epic sword two levels. And the additional resources it takes too are huge. I need to save that for my ship. I think the cost of upgrading as I go is probably 3 times what it should have been. It’s insane imo.Comment

I think that’s intentional Rudy to make it more risk/reward.
Once you start getting further along money is rarely a problem.

Re: Assassin's Creed Odyssey
Finished the main story, currently onto the two big DLCs. Some long form thoughts on the story and overall experience, full of spoilers.
SpoilerI went with Alexios, enjoyed the VA and character. I read that Kassandra really stands out as well, but don't feel like starting from scratch or NG+. Liked Phoebe as your "little sister" type character that popped up throughout the story. Sad The Cult took her out when Athens had the plague. After getting off the starting island, I didn't kill The Wolf or Stentor.
Spent most of my time exploring the various regions before doing more story, cleared a bunch of random forts and bandit camps. Took out Cultists as I went, upgraded the spear. Before even going to Athens I had explored most of the islands and a giant chunk of the world. Even ran into some quests for the "Mythical Creatures". Killed the Minotaur first, then Gorgon/Medusa, Cyclopes and solved the Sphinx's riddle. Those fights were a much needed break and were some of the most fun I had all game.
Some of the other quests were memorable. Like helping the Spartan commander and the island resistance lady take control, the Alcibiades interactions, Socrates, Pirates island and the treasure hunt quests, along with others that all kind of blended together.
I was a little let down on how the Cult kind of whimpered out and how the ending with Aspasia felt unfulfilling. I killed her, didn't trust her being manipulative and didn't want to fall under her for the "one world order" type of thing. Had the family together, saved Kassandra/Deimos and we all had dinner together.
All in all I enjoyed the game, just felt hollow at parts and had a real lackluster normal ending for me.Comment

Re: Assassin's Creed Odyssey
I recently finished the game myself. I’ve got 100 hours in and done a lot of side things like clearing out for forts, leader houses, side missions, etc. I’m level 56 and I really enjoyed the game.
While I really enjoyed the combat and special moves I do think the game runs long and may not be for everyone. I wished I never bothered with the message board stuff in the early going. There are so many official side missions that are good and necessary for things I should have avoided those.
I like the skill tree but I put all my points into Warrior and very little into the other trees, particularly the Assassin tree because it took spots on my melee wheel for Warrior. While you can change wheels later on I think a separate assassin toggle would have been nice. There are some cool moves along with parries and dodging that kept combat fun for me. The naval stuff was fun but I didn’t spend a lot of time in naval battles.
I still think the ability to upgrade or engrave items is way over priced. Leveling up happens pretty quickly so the cost is too much to pay for a short time. I would buy some gear from the blacksmith at times but people can easily play this game on Normal and not ever have to buy something from the blacksmith (although you should check for buying cultist clues, ship tablets or wood for ship upgrades).
Really fun game that I’m still doing stuff in the world. Gotta give it a 9/10 for me.Comment

I wasted a couple hours doing normal Message Board stuff and "Hour Glass" quests. Not realizing they aren't so much unique but there for resources at the start.

Re: Assassin's Creed Odyssey
Assassin's Creed is working with the graphic designer BossLogic on Twitter to reveal the next setting.
He's been live-streaming his PhotoShop for the past 6 hours as he works on the image. It's been fascinating to watch.
