I have to go with the box on this one. I bought my PS2 at launch, and it served me well for years, and I hated to let it go. But after picking up my Xbox, then another Xbox, I've never looked back. With the slightly newer technology, it's just a better machine. Not to mention the amount of sheer gaming joy it has brought me with huge system linked Halo 2 parties in my basement.

Donovan, if you were looking at picking up an Xbox this winter, I think EB games will give you $70 of credit for a working PS2. Currently, one of their sports packs has NCAA Football 2005, and Top Spin (fantastic tennis game, and I'm not even a tennis fan). Just a thought.

Oh yeah? I don't know about the sport packs tho... NCAA is not available where I live. Are the controllers for XBOX hard to get used to?

I have all 3 consoles and I would give my nod to the XBOX. Ever since I brought the BOX, my PS2 has seen less and less time with me. Only game I play on PS2 today are GTA, besides that, I regularly play about 4 games on my XBOX. As for the Gamecube, that thing sits in a corner somewhere.

The PS2 did have some major titles, but with the ever increasing amount of games that are for 2 or more systems, I'd rather buy the XBox version for obvious reasons. And the Xbox live service does'nt even compare with the PS2s network adapter. No contest.

Why would the NCAA not be available where you're at?? The controllers are a bit of a change, not near as bad as some would make it appear. After a game or two, you'd be perfectly comfortable with them. In a pinch there's always the Logitech Precision Wireless. It's kinda of a cross between the Xbox and PS2 controllers. I've got a couple of them, and I love them. Good luck whatever you decide.

Because NCAA is only available in the USA

Sony won the sales wars. Clearly.

Sony won the software wars. Clearly. There are more killer software titles for the PS2 in more genres than the Xbox. That said, I prefer the Xbox titles in the genres that I like -- team sports, racing and military shooters. But Xbox offerings for kids' games, for example, are pathetic compared to the PS2.

Microsoft won the tech specs war. Clearly. Games just look better on the Xbox. Games load faster on the Xbox. The Xbox has four controller ports. A built-in hard drive.

Microsoft won the online gaming war. Clearly. Xbox Live just crushes PS2 Online in functionality, quality game titles, interface, everything.

Nintendo? Good thing it owns the handheld market -- for now. I don't think the Gamecube won anything in this console war except for licensed Nintendo first-party games, which were a guaranteed success before the first GC was even built.

                        Take care,

Can't argue with any of that. 'Cept I disagree with XBOX Live crushing ps2 Online. I heard SOCOM 2 was pretty much better than anything on XBOX Live. But I never played SOCOM 2 online... so...

In my opinion the xbox is a much better console but in terms of sales, the ps2 obviously won.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)
