BG2 would probably be the best choice for what you're looking for. You can get it and its expansion for less than $10.
The main character in Torment isn't customizable from the point of view of asthetics, but in terms how the attributes choices you make actually affect the options available to your character. Its more flexible then any other game. I maximized the wisdom and intelligence of my character and as a result was able to talk my way out of most situations including beating the last boss by getting him to destroy himself by using logic to show him a paradox about himself that he was unable to reconcile thus driving him mad. Others could have made a super strong character and won by brute force and power, but they wouldn't have had the dialogue options that I had available to me.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

NWN rocks. Yep. Too bad my dad replaced our decent graphics card with a S3 PROSAVAGE or somethin like that. Now I can't play NWN.

I'm getting Final Fantasy XI for Christmas.

P.S. if anyone has a decent graphics card that they can spare that will be able to run NWN, I'd be happy to buy it off ya (of course not for too much or I'd just buy it out hte store lol)

LOL! Man, you just gave me a headache and almost drove me mad with that one! My gosh, you could actually do that in a rpg game? I have never heard of any thing like that. You are the freakin man, you should change your name to spock.

So strictly what comes in the package: Do you recommend BGII or NWN

Think old school d&d on the computer and you basically have the same thing. You can have a dm telling a story in real time. There are modules you can download, quest with friends, or alone; build your own modules and stories. Like i said tons of things. But like any highly customizable game, the selections to choose from might be a bit overwheling. I know that they are now selling the NW platinum pack, which brings NWN and the 2 expansion for like 30 or 40 bucks

BGII is a one time ride, maybe tow, but a very enjoyable one. With NWN, you can continue to play for along long LONG time.

if you got 50 bucks to spare, i would recommend both. I would also reccommend torment ( cant beleive i forgot about that one till you guys mentioned it). Excellent game.
