If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -

Who says you have to get rid of games? I still my NES hooked up at my house. And still play my Dreamcast. I only get rid of games & systems when I'm tired of playing them.Comment

Re: If they offered you a free next-gen console right now...
i plan on purchasing Xbox 2 and PS3, but I'm more excited to get the next Xbox. i'm an online gamer, and the Xbox live service is superior to anything that the PS2 has managed to muster so far. i hope that our Live Id's will be able to be transferred to the new system.
another reason i'm more excited about the next Xbox is because i've enjoyed more games on this system than i have on PS2. none of the PS2 exclusives have really appealed to me all that much. there's exceptions, but Microsoft's system is geared more towards my taste in games. if i was an RPG fan i might think differently.
backwards compatability isn't an issue with me at all, and i don't see why it's such a big deal for anyone personally. there's a lot of old games that i don't plan on getting rid of, but i also don't plan on playing them on a regular basis either. how often do PS2 users pull out Ridge Racer, Gameday, or the original Resident Evil? whenever i want to play an old game i'll just dig it out of the closet. i want the most bang out of my system, i don't want it limited due to the fact that some people want to play their old games. if they can keep it without an quality dropoff than i'm all for it though.
i've seen a lot of talk about the xbox 2 lacking a hard drive. from what i hear it's going to come in three version. One with a hard drive, one without a hard drive, and a pc version. i'll be going with the hard drive version because i love my custom soundtracks and have gotten used to not using memory cards.
both systems look like they could end up being amazing, i can't wait to see what the gaming future holds. as far as nintendo goes... lmfao.

Re: If they offered you a free next-gen console right now...
Thanks ps2King!
The one spec that has me the most excited about both consoles is the fact that they will support High-Definition DVD! (or BluRay, however you want to say it) This is going to look awesome on my Hi-Def CRT Projection Widescreen TV!
Now, I wonder how feasible it is going to be that gaming companies include two methods of sound decoding—like giving us the option to toggle between Dolby 5.1 and DTS?I happen to have one of those receivers that decodes a richer DTS signal as opposed to a Dolby signal.
