Re: Upcoming Games

My plan has been to get Hogwarts Legacy at launch but I am torn.

I want the collectors edition but was not going to pay the $300 when it was first announced (and I will not pay individual seller).

My birthday is a couple weeks after release which I know will likely include a bunch of PlayStation Gift Cards, so I may wait for that.

Or I may do what I did for Marvels Midnight Suns and wait a couple of months for it to get a little discount.

      BUT I WANT IT NOW.

I feel you there. I am a steel case cover fan but ended up going with the digital deluxe version on the PS5 with the extra side quest because I had $100 in playstation money from Christmas.

Dramatic Labs has set a release date of May 23rd for the narrative adventure game Star Trek: Resurgence. The title launches for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC via Epic.

If you remember Telltale classics like The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, Dramatic Labs is made up of former Telltale developers.

Star Trek: Resurgence is set shortly after the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation, placing it before the events of Star Trek: Picard but relatively concurrent with the events of Star Trek: Lower Decks. This is Star Trek. There are lots of timelines to keep track of.

The game features two playable lead characters, neither of which will be familiar to fans. However, Dramatic Labs has teased the presence of legacy characters from throughout the universe, and it has already revealed that the one and only Spock will feature heavily in the storyline. This is not the Spock from the original Star Trek and its sequel movies, but rather the aged Ambassador Spock as seen in The Next Generation timeline. The story involves stopping a war between two alien races, which is something the Vulcan ambassador would most certainly get behind.

Many of us here are Quantic Dream fans. Happy to hear this is coming to all consoles later this year.

Under The Waves is a narrative-driven adventure game about the engulfing power of grief. Set in the depths of the North Sea in a techno-futuristic 1970s, professional diver Stan is struggling to overcome a life-changing loss and embrace a new future. The isolation of the deep sea is a fitting manifestation of his state of mind, and as Stan retreads further into his self-imposed solitude, he starts to experience strange events far beneath the waves. He will eventually have to make a difficult choice... stay lost in the depths forever, or break free to the surface and to the rest of his life.

The Lies of P could be a good one. The demo looks very nice even on old gen (PS4 Pro) and everybody who loves soulsbornes will feel right at home right from the start.

With its own little tweaks to a proven formula, while at the same time not trying to re-invent the wheel just for the sake of inventing, the game draws apparent inspiration and ideas from both Dark Souls (pace) and Bloodborne (atmosphere and looks), and I think I even found a bits of Code Vein elements (training dolls, level design) in the gameplay.

I have so far only played first of the two levels presented in the demo, but already came away both impressed and intrigued, so if they get the rest of the game right, this could be a treat.

Still, even the first boss was surprisingly frustrating for someone who finished 3 (ok, that's not much, but hey) soulslikes already... until I figured to use my brain and all tools the demo gave at my disposal and put the big ugly to rest.

Hopefully the other bosses are not only tough but also fair (not that this one wasn't, tbh); it's a delicate balance to strike and generally I do not exactly trust other than FromSoft developers to actually get that balance right (that's why I have yet to play any other soulslike), so we'll see. Get this right, folks, and I am all in.

Oh yes, I'm a big Souls fan and was quite pleased with the Lies of P demo too! I think this game will be the closest thing we're ever gonna get to Bloodborne 2.
Also, very clever of them to end the demo just as soon as the tree of upgrades becomes available, I immediately caught myself theory crafting a "build" when I got the "thanks for playing" message lol
