    I don't get IGN

if you look GTA was voted best action game and best story line in PS2 games, but Metal Gear Solid 3 won overall best action game and story line. I'm not saying one game is better than the other, but i just don't get that.

Also, Madden had a better rating than ESPN NFL 2k5, but NFL 2k5 won the best sports game award. Again, i'm not disputing it, but i was just wondering why the heck they do this
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

well the ratings i believe come from only one reviewer, and the yearly awards im guessing is from the entire staff..

IGN=Ignorant Gaming Nerds. It's a lousy, industry-inhaling site that will kiss the azz of the biggest advertiser.

What else do you need to know?

I don't understand why everybody gets so upset over rewards or what credentials a game has. The most I use to judge a game is the reaction here at OS and reviews I find on the internet. Even the lowest rating game can be somebody's favorite game of all-time. GOTY doesn't mean jack**** to me.

That doesn't make sense. They voted for ESPN over EA's Madden yet they "kiss the ___ of the biggest advertiser"

I'm not saying they know what they are doing, just that your reasoning didn't make sense.

ESPN was a bigger advertiser. They sold out many customers with a big $20 price tag, and had many Football Fridays, a demo, etc.

                        Uh..No.
Having a small price is not advertising. TV, radio etc.. is advertising.
I have seen probably 4 times more advertisements for Madden than I have ever seen for ESPN.

Thank you. ESPN advertised like mad this year at a variety of sites -- way more than in past years.

IGN inhaled the payola, and its scores of ESPN reflected that. This was the first year that IGN didn't jizz all over Madden, and it was the first year that a lot more ESPN advertising showed up at IGN before the release of the football games.

                            Coincidence? I think not.

And is it a coincidence that IGN gives nearly all EA games a score of at least 8.0? Even the HORRIBLE NHL 2005 got an 8.3 from IGN. I think IGN starts every EA Sports game review at a base score of 8.0 and works up from there.

                            Take care,
                            PK
