      Re: 2021 Gaming Plans

Since finally getting an Xbox Series X on January 4th and PlaySTation 5 on February 14th, I have played a decent amount of games thus far as I work my way through the minimal backlog that I current have based on the Nov/Dec 2020 games.

      CURRENTLY PLAYING
      - Gears Tactics (Game Pass. Currently on ACT II. hoping to complete this before Outriders on April 1st which I should easily be able to accomplish.)

      COMPLETED
      - Gears 5: Hivebusters (Game Pass Ultimate/expansion. Really enjoyed Hivebusters as it was what I played and completed first on the Xbox Series X. An 8.5/10 overall for me and im hoping Gears 6 follows Hivebusters and goes back to being more linear than more open world/wide linear like Gears 5 was.)
      - Watch Dogs Legion (Disc/base game. Overall, a good 7.0/10 but still prefer the original 2014 Watch Dogs the most. I want my vigilante protagonist back. The open world of London with Ray Tracing looked great but wasn't into this game all that much. Played through the story and that was basically more than enough for me.)
      - Immortals Fenyx Rising (Digital/base game. Loved Immortals as it's easily my BOTW killer. Gorgeous open world, excellent combat and gameplay, good story and characters, excellent puzzles and vaults. Great music too. Love this game!!! Hoping it becomes Ubisoft's next franchise. Overall, a 9.0/10 and still the best game I have played on the current generation consoles.)
      - Marvel's Spider Man: Miles Morales (Disc/base game. PlayStation 5. Very few negatives in this game. Wish the story was longer because I really enjoyed it, Miles and all the characters. Side Content still leaves a lot to be desired. Overall, a great 8.5/10 game and im very much looking forward to Spider Man 2.)

      ON HOLD
      - Assassin's Creed Valhalla (Digital/base game. Played about 25 hours and there's a bunch of changes compared to Origins/Odyssey that I simply don't like but more importantly than that, I should not have started this game after playing 100+ hours of Immortals. Wasn't a smart idea. This was early February. Since then, I replayed The Division 2 and the Warlords of New York expansion on Xbox Series X as I needed a shooter to break up the melee combat focused games. Will get back to this eventually as it's going to be a very slow burn. lol.)
      - Cyberpunk 2077 (Digital/base game. Simply, im waiting for the current generation upgrade.)

      UPCOMING
      - Outriders (Game Pass. Super hyped for Outriders. Enjoyed what I played of the demo and I was all in day one but wasn't sure if I was going to buy the game digitally or on disc. Being in Game Pass day one makes that decision for me. Will be played after Gears Tactics.)
      - Immortals Fenyx Rising: Myths of the Eastern Realm (Digital/expansion. Would love to be able to complete Gears Tactics by the 25th and jump straight into this expansion but that seems unlikely. If I can't accomplish that, this will be played after I complete Outriders.)
      - Resident Evil VIII: Village (Disc/base game. May 7th.)
      - Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (Disc/base game. PlayStation 5. June 11th.)

Overall, im loving the Xbox Series X. Loading times are insane. Games all look great and play even better at 60FPS. Very much looking forward to the games listed above and whatever else the year has for me. Hehehe.

        Currently Playing:

Modern Warfare - Still hands down the best of the series and very much still enjoying the game. It's not as sweaty as it used to be thanks to CW.
Crash 4 - Trying to go for the 100%

        Upcoming:

MLB The Show 21 - Super glad it's finally on Xbox, and got the pre-order because why not?

        Back Burner:

Spyro Reignited - Purchased it and finished a few levels but I started playing Crash again. I keep forgetting I have it.

          Re: 2021 Gaming Plans

My 2021 plans are FINALLY taking shape after procuring a PS5.

          Currently Playing

          - MLB The Show 20 - it's glorious on the PS5 and is my primary game
          - Madden 21 - same as above
          - God of War - never got really into this game on PS4. Loving the fluidity on the PS5 though.
          - Borderlands 3 - 60 FPS on PS5 has really helped my enjoyment of this game. This is my current 'shooter' option when I get the urge.

          In the immediate queue

          - Immortals: Fenyx Rising - want to get back to this once I work my way through GoW.
          - The Outer Worlds - with the new expansion, I feel free to dive back into the game with a new character; but this is likely to fall off my radar in May.

          Already pre-ordered

          - MLB The Show 21 - not particularly excited for this, but I am hoping for some fun Diamond Dynasty content this year. My franchise time will likely continue to be played on '20. If DD does not suit my tastes this year, this one may get shelved very quickly barring some true shocking news.
          - Mass Effect Remastered - I may disappear for about a month after this drops. Absolutely cannot wait to finally play this on a modern system!
          - Life is Strange: True Colors - already pre-ordered. I love this series and cannot wait to also replay the first game remastered as well.

Probably not day 1 buys, but on the wishlist (now that we actually have a wishlist for the PS5 store!)

          - Returnal - this is just stuck in between MLB and ME launches but I am seriously intrigued here.
          - Kena: Bridge of Spirits - late August release may overlap too much with Madden '22. But something about this game looks cool and charming.
          - Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart - SO...this looks like fun, but I don't always love platformers. This might be a "Wait for a sale" game for me.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

            Re: 2021 Gaming Plans

As Josh above, I was able to land a PS5 so here is what are currently playing and what our plans are for 2021:

            Currently Playing:

            MLB 20
            MLB 18
            MLB 17
            Madden 21 Next Gen Version
            NHL 19
            Ghost of Tsushima
            Skyrim Remastered
            Sudden Strike 4

            In The Que:

            Spiderman
            God Of War
            Metal Gear V
            Outer Worlds
            Uncharted Lost Legacy
            Assassins Creed Origins

            Planned Purchases:

            Mass Effect Remastered
            Madden 22

Unless something drastically changes next week after the franchise stream...MLB 21 is not being purchased on release day for the first time since i started playing this series back on MLB 09. I can see myself maybe grabbing it much later in the year (if at all). I am just far too invested in my various franchises and rosters. Y2Y being removed was a blow. Let’s hope the next gen brings it back and brings some meaningful gameplay/presentation/franchise updates to bring me back.
            Now Playing on PS5:
            CFB 26 Hurricanes/Fresno State Year 2
            MLB The Show 25 - 2025 Yankees Year 1

Sticking with the PS4 Pro for now.

Broke down and snagged Madden and 2K on sale back in January. Haven't really played Madden much, but I set up my 49ers franchise last night, so I'm about to get started. I suck enough at 2K that I'm getting a good challenge that feels fair in my Hawks franchise.

              Pre-ordered
              • MLB 21

I caved and pre-ordered. I've enjoyed MLB for the most part, but the roster issues and being stuck between All-Star and HOF have tempered things a bit for me. So I'm hoping 21 is better. I have about 95 games left in my season on 20, but I've put it on hold until I see how 21 is.

              Likely to Buy
              • Madden 22
              • Horizon Zero Down*

Was going to skip M22, or at least wait until a sale again, but a new franchise QB will likely get me to change my mind. I never played HZD, but it's supposedly going to be one of the stay at home freebies in April, so I'll snag it then. Also have the free Ratchet and Clank to play as well.

You likely saw this, but something I'm excited about is that we can set our starting point for Dynamic Difficulty in MLB 21. All-Star+ could be the sweet spot for us (turn the Dynamic Difficulty slider down to zero after you get the level set so it doesn't move) this year.

I did not see that. Thanks for the heads up!

I probably should bump 20 up to AS+ too. I did that at one point last summer and then went back to standard AS with slider tweaks.

chivalry 2 looks really cool (extra violent)
                    Rust console looks cool too
I'm in the Enlisted Beta which is pretty fun as well.

Those 3 came as a surprise for me, so those in 2021 and most anticipated would be ESBC boxing!

that's a wrap for '21, taking a break from nba 2k, they really pissed me off this year on the series x.

I'll also look for deals on turn-based games like fighting in tight spaces, this is the police and more like that as I really liked mutant year zero a lot. Beyond that I'll continue to work on my dreams stuff on ps4 until I nab a ps5 at which point I may grab last of us 2 and by then there hopefully is multiplayer similar to #1

honoroable mention to cyberpunk which I have and will play more when the next gen patch drops
Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.

                      Re: 2021 Gaming Plans

Well, a fourth of the way through the year and my gaming goals have kind of stuck. More than they have in the past at least lol.

I ended up getting a PS5 for my 40th birthday back in late February. My wife tried 4 or 5 times she said before finally getting one from sony direct. She also preordered the JR edition of MLB 21 so those 2 things have impacted my plans. So has my full schedule.

First goal was to beat 4 games I haven't before. So far that number is at zero as I expected because well yeah... That's how I roll. I have made progress is Assassin's Creed Valhalla and the FF7 remake but not in much else.

I was playing MLB 20 on the ps5 until the end of March but am taking a break from it because I am waiting for MLB 21 to come out. This is my one true next gen game I will have so it will take up most of my time. I wanted the few week break to not get burnt out and to come to 21 and say wow when I fire it up for the first time.

As far as PC gaming, I made goals for a bunch of games and said I wanted to reach 4 of these goals. I have finished one and am a good way to finishing 2 more. At least I made progress somewhere, right?!?

Next for the sports games. This is obviously where the fan gets hit. Obviously... The ps5 has definitely thrown this for a loop. I did finish one final season in my Browns franchise on Madden on the ps4. I gave the next gen version a run and it's a big difference but I will likely wait until fall to start a new franchise. Still deciding on Madden 22.

As for MLB 20, I played some RTTS and a month into the 2028 Indians season but called it off last week on the day of the franchise stream for the above reasons.

So in the mean time while I wait for MLB 21, this is what I am up to. And yes, it is definitely not on my goals list.

                      1. Final Fantasy 7 remaster (PS5): The remake while good has only made me want to play the original and the remaster is the way I am going.

                      2. Diablo 3 (PC): Yes, breaking out one of my favorites. Playing a new seasonal character which I haven't done since like season 6. The new season, 23, has just started. Something about getting hyped for eventual Diablo 4 and Diablo 2's remaster has brought me back to this game.

These are as I wait for MLB 21 to come out. Though I will likely finish FF7 remaster and count it as a game I beat since I haven't played it in 3 years.

So yeah...this is how I am spending my time... Playing old favorites right now but I must admit I am enjoying it.

Looking forward to MLB 21 and my first next gen game.

Still playing MLB 21, Madden 21 and 2K21. Did pick up HZD and Ratchet and Clank as freebies but haven't started either of them yet.

M22 is going to be a must buy for me now so I can roll with Trey Lance. And I'm pretty sure I'm going to wind up getting Kena: Bridge of Spirits when it comes out in August. I really like the look of that game.

Just saw there’s a Ninja Gaiden collection coming this summer too. Probably snag that as well.

I had planned to get a PS5 in the fall, but I'm still really happy with the PS4 Pro. Maybe M22 gets me to start looking harder, but right now I'm happy to stick with the PS4 until next year.

Truly weird game in almost every aspect. Like with basically every game I played so far, the first couple of hours I barely had any idea of what I was doing. But something about this game makes me want to play more and more. Even on the easiest difficulty, it's a grind. Moving at snail's pace, almost six hours in and still only at the beginning of Chapter 5. Hopefully I will be able to get through the more difficult bosses because I really want to finish this game.

Since finally getting an Xbox Series X on January 4th and PlayStation 5 on February 14th, I have played a decent amount of games thus far as I work my way through the minimal backlog that I currently have based on the Nov/Dec 2020 games.

                            CURRENTLY PLAYING
                            - The Division 2: Season One (Replaying everything on Xbox Series X. Up to the 3rd target.)

                            - Tom Clancy's The Division 2 (Replay. Base game/episodes. Originally played at launch on PS4 Pro. Loved The Division 2 and didn't want to continue playing Valhalla after Immortals as I wanted a shooter to play so I replayed the base game and episodes. Still an excellent 9.0/10 for me.)
                            - Tom Clancy's The Division 2: Warlords of New York (Replay. Expansion. Loved the expansion. Not much else to say. LOL. Great 8.5/10 for me.)
                            - Gears Tactics (Game Pass Ultimate. A great turn based strategy RPG with a very good story and characters. Good combat system but having the side missions be mandatory was a complete turn off for me. Prefer Mutant Year Zero and Kingdom Battle over Gears Tactics when it comes to the turn based strategy RPG's that I have completed. Overall, an 8.0/10.)
                            - Immortals Fenyx Rising: Myths of the Eastern Realm (Digital/expansion. Really enjoyed this expansion and very happy that Ubisoft considers Immortals to be a franchise for them. Overall, an 8.5/10.)
                            - Outriders (Digital/base game. Loved Outriders so much that I played through it three times throughout the month of April. Great 8.5/10. Hoping for an expansion later this year.)
                            - Resident Evil VIII: Village (Disc/base game. Completed the game in four days after starting on release day. Great 8.5/10 game overall and enjoyed it more than RE VII but the last third of the game falls off compared to the first two thirds of the game but it is what it is. Enjoyed it for what it was. Looking forward to REmake4 in 2022/2023.)

                            ON HOLD
                            - Assassin's Creed Valhalla (Digital/base game. Will be restarting the game on normal as I was playing on hard and just not feeling as much as Odyssey or Origins. Just way too many gameplay aspects that were changed and whatnot that just turn me off. Will only be doing story missions. Want to basically complete the base game just to get the Wrath of the Druids expansion which is said to be real good and much smaller in scope and more of just a main story and little side stuff.)
                            - Bright Memory (Digital/demo. This is basically a demo that sets up Bright Memory Infinite which is what im waiting for before playing.)
                            - Cyberpunk 2077 (Digital/base game. Simply, im waiting for the current generation upgrade.)

                            UPCOMING
                            - Immortals Fenyx Rising: The Lost Gods (Digital/expansion. Will most likely play this after I complete Season One of The Division 2.)
                            - BioMutant (Disc/base game. Pre-ordered the other day as this looks real good and barring horrible reviews, this will be day one. Releases May 25th.)
                            - Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (Disc/base game. PlayStation 5. June 11th. Pre-ordered the other day and super hyped for Rift Apart!!!)
                            - Necromunda: Hired Gun (Disc/base game. Releases digitally on June 1st with the disc version getting released June 29th. You're basically a bounty hunter in the Warhammer universe. It's a first person fast paced shooter. Looks solid but will also see how impressions and reviews end up going before deciding.)
                            - The Ascent (Game Pass. Releases July 29th as an Xbox One/Xbox Series/PC exclusive. Think Ruiner mixed with Diablo mixed with Alienation set in a cyberpunk universe. Very much looking forward to this game. Looks great!!!)

Overall, im loving the Xbox Series X. Loading times are insane. Games all look great and play even better at 60FPS. Very much looking forward to the games listed above and the rest of 2021 as im expecting a real good second half. Thus far, this generation has been great for me. And E3 is four weeks away!!! Hyped!!!

Finished Spiderman about a week ago. Really good game. Probably in my top 5 for current gen games. Finished the story but still need some collectibles and still need to do the DLC. I definitely enjoyed the story.

Now my non sports playstation game is Shadow of the Tomb Raider. About 35% in so far. Enjoying it a lot so far.

Took a small break from MLB 21 but have now decided to return to 20.

In the PC world, I am near the end of a Civ 5 campaign with domination as the only way to win. Playing as France and down to 6 civs from starting with 10.

Still deciding on what to play after Tomb Raider. Think I may give Days Gone a whirl. May also go back and continue FF7 Remake.

As of now no future purchases planned. Enjoying the ps5 a bunch too. Next game I purchase is likely Hogwarts Legacy next year.
