Re: Saints Row Reboot
Maybe it's just the rebel in me but that makes me double down on posting more about Diablo Immortal, like here.
My point is related to Saints Row though, I don't think I'm off topic here when I say this game is likely going to be the same way, but for different reasons.
Just keep this in mind, the same people who cry about it being a "neutered" Saints Row are the same people who are mad and think that no one should play the game because it is awful, while ironically never having even played it themselves..(again just like Diablo Immortal)
IMO those folks are just angry they can't find anything in the game to get majorly upset about and call for some sort of stupid petition or ban on it. #pathetic #ihavenolife #momsbasement
Enjoy it if you like it, and don't be afraid to say that is my view. Don't kowtow to the online moron mob.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Saints Row Reboot
Okay. I bought it. I was so against it, but I just loved the first two so much.
Bard review time.
If you are a gamer who: Loves the idea of playing video games, gets bored quick, game jumps like no other, will eventually come back to a game just to never finish it but to play it and appreciate it some more, but really wants to finish it...I'm your guy for reviews.
This is spoiler free. I'm around 8 hours in, played a lot last night because Wednesdays are early release at school and I hardly teach on these days, lol. Here we go.
-----------------
Let's start with the story. It is goofy, it is wanting to be "Woke". Let's get that out of the way and just know what we are getting ourselves into. It is a faux-political, interesting dynamic. The one-liners are catching me off-guard and it's honestly making me "LOL" in real life.
After playing around with the sliders you can make the combat and shooting way more realistic (still looks goofy and extra), which is what I really desired. As soon as I quit comparing this to GTA, the combat system and shooting stopped bothering me completely...which took about two (2) hours.
I'm on the PS5, and honestly there are a lot of NPCs. I'm thinking people who are not getting a lot have a bugged game because I have plenty. I spent a solid hour just roaming and taking time to appreciate the scenery of it all. Watching the NPCs doing their own quirky things is also one of my favorite things to do in these games. Seeing random events popping up, I think there was a pretty big music show going on once. Cops pulling people over. There's a lot going on. Cities are very lively, the desert is less-so...like it should be.
There are a lot of side activities once you get going. New ones open up the more you progress. Patience is key in that department.
Everything I have been doing with the skills and perks within the game are simple, but are nice to have.
I do have a few negatives.
Immersion. Not having that many (or really any) interiors is frustrating to me. I like to go into stores and not do anything but seeing where these people I see wondering the streets "work".
I have come across a few glitches on the PS5, but nothing game breaking.
Combat is good, but aiming is a chore.
Right now I will gladly give Saints Row reboot 7.5/10 with DLC easily making this get a higher score.

1. Is that "wokeness" stuff front and center, or just something you see at the start referenced? If so then so glad I didn't purchase and chose to rent.
2. How are the animations? Do you see a lot of glitched out animations or everything pretty smooth there?
3. Are there graphical options for performance versus image quality, things of that nature?
4. How sexual is it? Not much, a little? Cheeky stuff? Would you let a teen play?
5. Are the graphics impressive to you or sort of meh?Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Saints Row Reboot
Ok, thank you very much for taking the time to write that. I do have a few questions for you:
5. Are the graphics impressive to you or sort of meh?
2. I have seen a lot of...questionable animations that I hope are ironed out. Cars being my main gripe right now. Randomly I might just go flying through the sky. Lol. Walking and NPCs for the most part are fluid. Reminds me though of a PS3 game at times.
3. There are graphical things you can do, but from what I've read (I'm console) if you adjust them your frame rate is going to drop significantly, so I haven't touched much in that regard.
4. This is my opinion. But it's tame. If I had a teenager they would absolutely be able to play it...that's not a good example...if my friend who is very strict with games with their kid asked, I would say let them play it. They went safe with this game. Language, obviously, but sexual? Tame. It's there, but not in your face 24/7.
Edit: I should add it's not non-existent. You can make yourself very well endowed or not so much. Those are options in customizing. There are some scenes, but overall that's not a Saint Row vibe. They don't overdo the gore and sexual endeavors in my opinion.
5. Depends where I'm at...and how fast I'm going...yeah, that's a thing. The game to me looks really good, not amazing, but it is good. You can get caught up just staring at times, which is what I like. Nothing will make your jaw drop, but you'll stop and go, "hey, that's pretty." Going too fast will make pedestrians not load in time I have seen, which does take away life and scenery of a city.

Re: Saints Row Reboot
1. Eh. I would say it never goes away, but it really goes down dramatically. No spoiler, but I'm being left with a sense of poor writing mainly from the story. More humour comes out for sure, but they try for the influencer/trendy angle and it's not totally clicking for me, but they have made me laugh a few times.

Well I am very glad I rented it, esp in regards to #1...but I do like to relax and play open world games so maybe I do end up purchasing it, but I can definitely say it will be when it's marked down to like $25 or less, maybe on Black Friday this would be a good game to pick up is what I'm thinking, that's not too far off.

Re: Saints Row Reboot
I'm a few hours in and I really am enjoying the game. There is something about playing with an avatar that actually favors me that makes me more invested. The humor doesnt always land but for me it just speaks to the overall goofy nature of the game. I have gotten a few good chuckles in, though. It's not GTA and I think that's what I enjoy the most about it. It's just dumb fun, basically The Fast and Furious franchise for me.
I am playing on PS5 1440 whatever with framerate and the game is smooth as butter. I have not encountered any bugs so far. The shooting is ok but I'd really like a cover system. Then again, there haven't many instances where I would have used it so far. Driving is my least favorite aspect of the game. It just doesnt feel responsive enough. Other than that though I dig the story and city. Looking forward to where things go. Right now the game is a solid 8 for me.

Re: Saints Row Reboot
No dynamic weather other than sandstorms. The development team was still building the tech while building the game, so there was not enough development time. That's too bad!

I'm guessing it's to meet some sort of financial amount for their quarter or something like that, but that's all kinds of silly.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Once you announce a game things start rolling fast. Maybe they should have waited with the announcement.
Anyway, still waiting patiently for my copy that should be here in a few days. Can't wait!My Specs:

Re: Saints Row Reboot
It sucks at times, but I don't mind longer delays. I rather see the game at a more polished state than a game that is rushed out and buggy. People don't remember/care about a delayed game that is polished. You look at a game like Cyberpunk 77 that was getting GoTY buzz pre-launch that was marred by a buggy launch.Comment
