    Re: 2022 gaming plans

My only plan for this year is to finally upgrade my skills in Dota 2. But who knows, perhaps, I'll achieve even more.

Just saw the trailer for DokeV. Add that to my list of games I'm watching with great interest.

Well I was able to get a PS5 so now my 2022 gaming plans have changed...LOL

Not sure what exactly what my plans will be aside from the 2 mentioned, but I am currently playing through Ratchet and Clank on teh PS5

          CURRENTLY PLAYING

          Code Vein (main game)

My first soulslike ever and man what a different experience from anything I played so far. I just hope I can finish it. I think I already got much further than I expected out of myself going in, would be a shame not to go the distance now. Simply amazing.

Bai Qu: Hundreds of Melodies (sidekick)

More of a visual novel than an actual game, this is a true soul-soothing experience whenever you need one. Incredible combination of light-hearthed story with a dark cloud hanging over it, you actually do not need to move a finger to get fully invested in main characters' lives.

          The Outer Worlds (second playthrough)

I actually started year 2022 with this game, got halfway through Monarch in about a week and a half, and did not touch it since. It's still a fantastic game but maybe a little too early for second playthrough. However, by the time this year's over, I am gonna be over with the game, too.

          AS FOR THE PLANS THEMSELVES...

          - no PS5 this year, given my backlog, continuing inavailability, money, lack of time and whatnot

          - no XBX or XBS until The Outer Worlds 2 comes out and blows everybody and everything out of the water

          - finish at least two if not three A-class open world games during the course of the year (Days Gone, Dying Light, Odyssey, RDR2, FC5)

          - finish at least Uncharted 4, and perhaps even Lost Legacy as well

          - finish either Evil Within 2 or Tomb Raider 3, if not both

          - avoid being overconfident and going blindly after Dark Souls 1-3 if I somehow manage to finish Code Vein, LOL

          - get my life in order so I can finally play The Last of Us Part II, with clear focus and a peaceful mind, as this game deserves

          - I am dying for a good football game but can't stand thinking about firing up another Madden game anytime soon. I already deleted 21 again and for good, and won't get M22 until it drops under maybe €15 and with the other franchise updates we were promised this cycle, especially the relocation one - and it would have to be huge.

            UPDATED
            CURRENTLY PLAYING
            - Dying Light 2: Stay Human (digital/base game)

            BACKLOG
            - Bright Memory (digital, waiting for Infinite to get released before playing this demo)
            - Immortals Fenyx Rising: The Lost Gods (digital/expansion)

            FEBRUARY
02/18 - Horizon II: Forbidden West (disc/base game)

            MARCH
            - Cyberpunk 2077 (digital/base game)

Have removed Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok expansion, Crossfire X (campaign), Elden Ring, Sifu and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands completely as im either not going to complete them or simply lost interest due to various reasons.

Once I complete Dying Light 2, it will be on to Horizon II: Forbidden West and afterwards, finally Cyberpunk 2077 as the current generation upgrade was released today.

By the time I finish the above three games I mentioned, it should be April and will most likely be replaying Ghost of Tsushima on PlayStation 5 so I can finally play the Iki Island expansion which I would have preferred to be a standalone so I wouldn't have to replay the base game.

Once that is all completed, I will then replay Assassin's Creed Odyssey and both expansions so I can then play the free mini-expansion that was released late last year for free as I have zero interest in playing anymore Valhalla.

Hoping by April/May, a few games like A Plague Tale Requiem, Steel Rising and Gotham Knights get release dates.

              Current Update

Totally went a different direction from my last update and after scuffling to find something I could get into, wound up playing all the way through HZD for the first time in the last 3 weeks.

Games finished in 2022 (I consider 'finished' to be completing main story):
              Final Fantasy VII Remake
              Horizon: Zero Dawn

Games I am playing right now:
              MLBTS 21 franchise
              Cyberpunk 2077
Horizon: Forbidden West (close enough to launch to put it here)

              In the immediate queue:
              Life is Strange: True Colors
              Life is Strange remaster

              Games/series I plan on re-playing in 2022:
              Mass Effect Trilogy
              Guardians of the Galaxy
              Tomb Raider Trilogy

              Likely 2022 purchases:
              Lego: Star Wars
MLB The Show 22 - already preordered
              WWE 2k22

              On the fence purchases:
              Tiny Tina's Wonderlands
              Forspoken
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

                Re: 2022 gaming plans

                2022 Gaming Goals:
Buy PS5 - Completed Early Jan

Buy/Build new PC - WIP. I'm probably going to look to replace my monitors too, and right now all the prices are just a bit too high.

Complete 1 Total War Warhammer Campaign - Almost complete. I have a save that has some great progress, but the new game just came out so I'll have to come back to it.

                Games to buy:

                PC Gaming
Rainbow Six Extraction (1/20) - Did not buy.

Vampire the Masquerade Swansong (5/19) - TBD

Total War Warhammer III (2/17) - Bought Yesterday

                PS5
Horizon Forbidden West (2/1) - Picking it up tomorrow, but I don't know when I'll get to it.

Forspoken (5/24) - Currently have it preordered for PS5

                Maybe Buys
                PC

OOTP 23 - The only sports series that I still consider remotely worth buying. This is firmly in the probably category, but I would like to see a few enhancements before I shell out full price for it again.

                PS5
Sifu (2/8) - The digital version released, but the physical copy doesn't release until later (I think?). This will probably be something that I look to get on a holiday sale at the end of the year.

Gran Turismo 7 (3/4) - Need more info on this. I hated the direction that this series took with the most recent game, but I'm hoping this one returns to the car simulation games of old.

                If they come out:
Starfieild (11/11) - This is a day 1 purchase whenever it comes out. It seems like a prime candidate for a delay though.

Bayonetta 3 - It's Bayonetta which is enough for me

Hogwarts Legacy - Do we finally get a full game in the Harry Potter universe?

Star Ocean The Divine Force - I love this series. So, this will always be a must buy.

Star Trek Resurgence - An actual exploration game in the Star Trek universe.

Games that may or may not have a release date that I'm watching and may get.
Pokemon Legends - Switch - (1/28) - Did not Buy
Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection - PS5 - (1/28) - Did not Buy
                CrossfireX - XSX - (2/10) - Did not Buy
Elden Ring - PC - (2/5) - Did not Buy
                Elex 2 - PC - (3/1)
Starship Troopers Terran Command - PC - (3/31)

                Currently Playing
                PC
                Total War Warhammer 3

                PS5
                Fifa 22
                Spiderman Remastered

Games I was playing at various points the last few months but have currently tabled.
                Total War Warhammer 2 (PC)
                Elder Scrolls Skyrim (PC)
                Saints Row IV (PC)
                Horizon Zero Dawn (PC)
                The Outer Worlds (PC)
                Control (PC)
                Mass Effect Legendary Edition (PC)

                In the queue
Ghosts of Tsushima Directors Cut (PS5)
                Kena Bridge of Spirts (PS5)
                Oddworld: Soulstorm (PS5)
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (PS5)

I'm hoping that by actually listing my queue/backlog that I will actually get to them. I'm notoriously bad for leaving a game on the shelf for a long time and/or getting half way through a game and then jumping until something else.

I'm standing by for Gotham Knights, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, ESBC boxing, Madden 23, and EAs NCAA College Football.

Plan to continue playing Madden 21 (Series X), and Cyberpunk 2077. I may jump back into Shadow of Mordor, and really wish Halo could've held my attention for a little longer than it did.

Outside of that, sheesh, I have a good 25+ games in my hard drive that I'll randomly load up every now and again.

                      Re: 2022 gaming plans

Its nice to see this still happens every year and I enjoy reading everyone's thoughts. I especially like to see the people resolving to enjoy the hobby more.

I too want to get more out of 2022, in 2021 I subscribed to the PC version of Gamepass and my attention span problems got even worse scooting around all of the games on offer. My Steam backlog is huge and I always have about 6 games of different genres going.

So, for my purchase plans, I will eventually buy Elden Ring when it gets stable on PC; I like the soulsborne games even though I am bad at them and it sounds like ER lets you overlevel and have an easier time with boss fights. Doubt too much else will grab me among the new releases.

If i complete any of the games I'll mention below and not ready for ER yet, I would like to try Deathloop, Sifu, and Guardians of the Galaxy. Returnal also looks cool, but a PS5 is elusive and silly with the PC rig I have.

                      Current gaming:
Total War, Warhammer 3...day 1 from Gamepass, needs a good amount of time per session so this is unfortunately my last to visit.

OOTP 22...in an online fast-sim league which keeps my ootp itch scratched, and we have no plans to migrate to 23 so I will probably skip it this year. Kind of over PT

***Nobody Saves the World...buried the lead. This game is amazing. So fun, and perfect balance between challenging and inviting. There are situations which I die a lot but it never feels punishing and the clever ability design which encourages you to mix and match different class abilities eventually rewards persistence. i also love the humor, which is so refreshing compared to games which try to be funny like Borderlands 3 and just end up being crass.

NCAA14, unmodded/PS3....playing a season with Texas right now. May have finally got my skills up enough that I can push past Varsity difficulty, so my plans are to start a new season on the next level up (AA)

Darkest Dungeon and Slay the Spire...these are my watching TV/playing on laptop games and are kind of interchangeable. Games that are designed to be sort of impossible but still fun to run through them, always something new to learn or try.
                      Now playing
                      too much
Nobody Saves the World, Total Warhammer3, NCAA14, ootp

Been playing a lot of Draft Day Sports College and Pro Basketball. I already have DDS College Basketball 2022 pre-ordered and can't wait until it officially drops.

Whenever I get my income tax return I plan on looking to get a PS5 as my PS4 is on the verge of going kaput. It's been a good one though. I got it early on, one of the first models of the PS4, been pulling through for me for 7+years.

Let's see.....so far this year I have played The Last of Us Part 2 and Terminator Salvation Xbox 360.

Currently playing Gears of War 2.

Other games I am looking to play through this year are:

                          The Walking Dead Season 4
                          Dead Space 3
                          Tomb Raider (2013)
                          Mass Effect (Legendary Edition version)
                          The Order 1886
God of War (PS2 version that was remastered for PS3)
                          Halo (MCC version)
                          Red Dead Redemption

Lots of old stuff. I rarely play anything at launch, but it's nice because I always have something to play.

In addition I have two MLB The Show Franchises I play regularly - one with Cleveland that started in 2017, and one with Bacon's roster with San Diego.

I also dabble in two NCAA dynasties.

So plenty of stuff to get into.

You are considering Elden Ring, Armor? Maybe I am horribly wrong but I would never have guessed it's your kind of game / genre. Can't wait to see what you have to say about the game once you get your hands on it!

Edit: I should have saved this for the Elden Ring thread, lol.

For the first time in a very long time......I want a challenge. And Elden Ring is a true open world. Just live in the world and immerse myself in the lore and a dark, cruel adventure.

And yes......I am already fully expecting to die a 100 times. This game is all about the journey.....not the destination.
