    Re: 2023 game plans

Really surprised how good sonic is with the history of how bad sonic 3d games have been. The boss fights are awesome a lot of things remind me of Zelda botw. Easily the best 3d sonic game. The surprise game of 2022. I beat island 2 last night think I will try to play more of this to start 2023 and also try to beat Kirby as I am getting towards the end think I am at the last boss. think I will also start a second play threw of Horizon forbidden west on new game + being meaning to get around to it with VRR mode update to.

      Re: 2023 game plans

For gaming in general for 2023 I just want to enjoy gaming more. Think in recent years I've gotten to caught up in games that get a lot of attention when historically the games no one talks about or got meh reviews are the ones that I look back on and end up liking the most.

      Sports games:
      Future Purchases?
      * MLB the Show 23 - (Maybe) I'm only in if they bring back y2y saves or franchise adds the ability to chose season length. I want to be able get through multiple seasons. Otherwise I'll just go back to '20.

      * FIFA 24 - (Likely) If they don't go off the rails with it's presentation as I can see the influence of Madden creeping in. Also the gameplay has to be at least on par or better than '23 as sliders can make it enjoyable.

      In Progress:
      * Gran Turismo 7 - (Continued) Most people fell off already but I still enjoy it. Nowhere near the level of the old GTs but does the job for me.

      * Dirt 5 - (Continued) Arcade-y rally fun on both controller and wheel.

      * Session: Skate - (Continued) This is a great skateboarding game. This is a real sim, not THPS or Skater XL. No thousand point trick combos no going for high scores. Just skating and chilling.

      Non Sports Games:
      In Progress
      * Callisto Protocol - (85% complete) First game in a while I look forward to playing has a few weird difficulty spikes gets a bit of extra hate from the internet because it's not Dead Space.

      Future Purchases?
      * Final Fantasy XVI - (Likely, Day 1) Finally a FF game not based on some futuristic non sense. I'd prefer something closer to FFIX style wise but this looks like as about as good as I'll get.

      * Forspoken - (Likely) Just looks like my type of game. One of the few games I've been anticipating.

      * A Plague Take: Requiem (Likely) Big fan of the first one ready to jump into the sequel eventually.

*PSVR2 have that preordered so that will be an interesting first foray into VR gaming.

      Backlog:
Tons of games here to potentially choose from maybe I'll be able to tackle one or two of those.

        Re: 2023 game plans

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the one game I am really looking forward to purchasing and playing in 2023. If it's at all like BOTW in terms of immersion for me, it will be a game I put 150-200 hours into.

I picked up Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and having an absolute blast with it thus far.

MLB The Show 23 is one I'm on the fence on. I'm still going strong in my Blue Jays franchise in MLB 22 that I don't feel a pull for a Day 1 purchase here. Of course, that could change based on pre-release information.

I may try and get back into NBA 2K23. I was so excited for the My Eras, but it has been a bit of a letdown. I think that's more to do with I'm bored with 2K's gameplay at this point than anything else.
        Currently Playing:
        MLB The Show 25 (PS5)

Will most likely buy Jedi Survivor and Super Mega Baseball 4 (if it does in fact release this year). My daughter got a Switch for Christmas so I may pick up some games for myself for that as well.

Right now working on Spider-Man Remastered and just started a FIFA 23 career with AFC Richmond.

              Re: 2023 game plans

I was very dejected with the sport titles like The Show and Madden that I didn't even purchase them in 2022. NBA 2k 23 however, has turned out to be one of the best sports game I've played. I will say I've trended more towards purchasing games down the road after receiving price reductions, multi-bug fixes, and game improvements.

There maybe games yet announced that will peak my interest since the new year has just started but this is pretty much my early 2023 lineup.

<b>PSVR2 Launch</b> Looking forward to PSVR2 next month.

              <li>Horizon: Call of the Mountain
              <li>RE Village
              <li> Kayak VR
              <li> Crossfire: Sierra Squad
              </li>

              <b>Probable Purchases in 2023</b>
              <li>Firewall Ultra PSVR2
              <li>The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Chapter 2 PSVR2
              <li>Undisputed
              <li>Company of Heroes 3
<li>MLB The Show 23 (<i>deeply disappointed in what has gone on in NG</i>)
<li>Madden 23 (<i>I have to get it in tribute to a video game icon. Maybe by then it'll be fixed ?</i>)
              <li>Madden 24 (<i>depends on how pissed I am with 23 & its improvements</i>)
<li>The Day Before (<i>The Division and The Last of Us had a child</i>)
              <li>Aliens: Dark Descent</li>

              <b>Long-Term Commitment Play </b>
              <li>War Thunder
              <li>NBA 2K 23 Brooklyn Nets 22/23 Season
              <li>Jurassic World Evolution 2
              <li>No Man's Sky - <i>Continuous saga w/ psvr2
              <b>Backed Up Games</b>

                Re: 2023 game plans

Only two games for sure I'm buying in 2023:

                MLB The Show '23 (PS5)
Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe (Switch)

Only other thing will be the same as every year and that is to add to my retro collection.

                Not all that exciting.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                  Re: 2023 game plans

For 2023 and the foreseeable the future the theme is, like always, living in the past. Playing the "Core 3", again. The Core 3 at the 3 franchises that have defined my gaming life since 2001.

Timeline would look something like this:

                  Old:
Halo 1: finishing it on Heroic.
Halo 2: finishing it on Heroic.

                  New:
Halo 3: Played this like for 15 minutes 5 years ago and never looked back; so for me it is definitely like a new whole game. Would finish it on Normal since it is my first time.

                  Halo 3 ODST: Normal.
                  Halo Reach: Normal.
                  Halo 4: Normal.
                  Halo 5: Guardians: Normal.
                  Halo Infinite: Normal.

Then going back and finally finishing "The Dream"; Halo 1 on Legendary; Halo 2 too.

                  Old:
                  Splinter Cell
                  Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
                  SC: Chaos Theory: 100%

                  New:
SC: Double Agent: basically same story as with Halo 3, except I gave this one like an 10 hours
                  SC: Conviction
                  SC: Blacklist

                  Old:
                  Grand Theft Auto: III: 100%
                  GTA: Vice City: 100%
                  GTA: San Andreas: 100%
                  GTA IV: 100%
                  GTA V: 100%

                  Additional stuff:

                  Old:
GTA In Horses II: 100% (this one I'm currently "playing", you know how it is, I play it every now and then, but I'm stuck grinding to 100% and I won't accept "help" or looking at "guides" so I guess I'll grind 'till eternity

                  L.A. Noire: finally finishing it.

                  New:
Pokemon Trading Card Game Online: starting this after playing PTCG 1 & 2 for Game Boy/PC for more than 20 years

                  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

All of this to be done playing on PC and the GOAT: my Xbox 360

PS: Guess I'd be happy if finished just the Halo portion of this for 2023 :P

                      Re: 2023 game plans

Right now I plan to pick up Dead Space, Callisto Protocol and maybe the Final Fantasy Pixel remasters. I may wait for a sale on those though. Doubt I'll pick up The Show unless SDS blows me away. If part of the Final Fantasy 7 remake releases this year I'll pick it up, but I suspect it will actually release in 2024.

This is a year where I am focused largely on playing through bangers I've missed over the years:

                      Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intermission
                      Dead Space (2023)
                      Red Dead Redemption
                      Horizon: Zero Dawn
                      Final Fantasy 15
                      God of War 2 (PS2)
                      RE2 and RE3 Remakes
                      Resident Evil 5
                      Breath of The Wild

Will also work in my various MLB the show franchises and my Madden 20 Packers franchise.

                          Re: 2023 game plans

First quarter of the year is about all I can plan for right now. Thus far, I'm looking forward to a select few releases coming up soon:

                          Dead Space (January 27)
                          Hogwarts Legacy (February 10)
Kerbal Space Program 2 (February 24)
                          The Day Before (March 1)
                          Resident Evil 4 (March 24)

There's a couple others I'm less sure of, like Skull and Bones (March 9) and the next Star Wars Jedi game (March 17). Then eventually in 2023 I'll look forward to Diablo IV, Stalker 2, the next Spiderman, and Starfield. Maybe a few I've overlooked, as well. We'll see how it goes.

I still have back-logged games I need to get to and we all know how that happens. Most of these games I'll end up waiting to play, anyway, because I simply don't trust buying games on release anymore. Unless I hear really positive things.

And my Steam wish list isn't getting any smaller.

                            Dead Space (January 27)

                            Hogwarts Legacy (February 10)

Kerbal Space Program 2 (February 24)

                            The Day Before (March 1)

                            Resident Evil 4 (March 24)

There's a couple others I'm less sure of, like Skull and Bones (March 9) and the next Star Wars Jedi game (March 17). Then eventually in 2023 I'll look forward to Diablo IV, Stalker 2, the next Spiderman, and Starfield. Maybe a few I've overlooked, as well. We'll see how it goes.

I still have back-logged games I need to get to and we all know how that happens. Most of these games I'll end up waiting to play, anyway, because I simply don't trust buying games on release anymore. Unless I hear really positive things.

And my Steam wish list isn't getting any smaller.

Glad to see another person that is interested in The Day Before! It looks amazing!

You think it will be released on 3/1? And its still being released on consoles?

I find it weird that cant pre-order anywhere, for a game that comes out in under 60 days.

I'm interested in The Day Before too. Division plus zombies?? Yes please. But just looks too good to be true. We'll see soon enough though.

                                I know right!

I want to believe the 3/1 release date but really weird that we can't pre-order this anywhere... Unless is only on PC come 3/1 and then consoles later? Idk but everything I've seen releases on everything 3/1.
