If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Re: Revolution might not have a lot 3rd party support

At this point I would like nothing more than Nintendo to follow Sega's path and become a software only company.(Handhelds excluded) They still make the best games IMO but they just refuse to realize what worked in '85 doesnt work 20 years later. They have so many great multiplayer games that would be a perfect fit online yet they still insist gamers dont want online games.

3rd party support is dead for a few reasons IMO. Cube owners are either younger with less income and tend to buy just a few games a year, the few games they do buy will be mostly 1st party stuff. Or second, owners like me have another system and hate the tiny memory cards and the awkward controller. If a game is on the Xbox and the Cube...why in the world would someone pick the Gamecube version?

Nintendo is just too proud(read:foolish) to admit and correct their mistakes. They've become a non factor in the console market. And if Sony can meet demand(unlikely) and produce PSP that dont break after a year(very unlikely) I think Sony will get around 50% of Nintendo's handheld market as well.

Pretty much everything in console gaming is a retread. You just must have something against the characters themselves and their prominence.

I am against nintendo using the same old characters over and over again on every system they make and I'm sick of nintendo saying that they know what the consumers want but they have no idea.

I respect your opinion. But as a gamer and a Nintendo loyalist I must say I have to disagree with you. What's the problem with using the same characters in a game as long as the gameplay is good and the story is decent? There is so many games out there that do this. Final Fantasy introduces new characters, but when was the last time they came up with an original story line?

I don't like Nintendo either saying how they "know what's best for the consumer." But as long as the games still coming out are good and they have a following what's the big deal? I love Mario, Zelda, Metroid Prime, and even Kirby! As long as Nintendo sticks with their commitment of putting out QUALITY titles and lives up to their reputation I will forever be a Nintendo fan.

The problem is that they use the same formula for many of the games and they don't switch it at all. The big deal for me is that they are trying to tell you what you want and they refuse to accept that they are wrong about anything. They always want to talk about how they are "revolutionizing" things but all they do is come up with gimmicks and are either too stupid or too proud to admit that they are wrong about anything. Sorry if this doesn't sound right but I'm sick and just took some medicine and I can't think straight right now.

Ok, but that different that saying Nintendo never innovates, or that they put out a retread for every game.

Sure Metroid is an old franchise/character, but are you saying that Metroid Prime was not an innovation? Hell, not only was it an innovation over all Metroid games, but also other first-person shooters.

Same with the Mario/Zelda games. Mario 64/Sunshine was an innovation, as was the latest Zelda, and from what I hear, the latest Starfox.

GIve me some of the games you like, and I guarantee that I or others can point out how is is un-original or a retread. Some games take established forumlas and give them a new twist to make them fresh and exciting, but this is EXACTLY what Nintendo does too. The only difference is the characters being there. And for whatever reason, you take your dislike for Nintendo characters and use it to make other points against nintendo.

Let me ask you this: Should Microsoft abandon Master Chief for its next system? Should Konami abandon Solid Snake? Should Ubisoft abandon Sam Fisher? After all, these are the "same old characters", aren't they? Other companies do it as well.
