Maybe the game actually needed more time. Looking forward to it.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows: AC Japan
The Pro Enhanced version seems to have the VRR 40 fps mode. I have enjoyed that mode in other games. The balanced mode seems to have the best of both worlds. 4k40 with extended RT.
Overall, I’m looking forward to playing this game. I enjoyed playing other games like Ghost of Tsushima and Rise of the Ronin. But, seeing reports of about 80 hours with side content is a double edged sword for me. While it’s great to hear that there’s a lot to do, but it seems like it will be a bloated game. So, there will most likely be a lot of repetitive side content.Comment

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows: AC Japan
So this game released early on PC for Uplay+, been playing since 8:20pm. Graphically the game looks insane. The lighting and shadows are incredible. Ray tracing is done very good. Playing of PC with a RTX 4090. Run smooth for me with everything on ultra.
Game play is good so far. Grant it typical AC style, you do some stuff prior to the actual title screen appearing. That takes about damn near an hour. Then you do some other stuff that takes about 90 minutes to do until what I would say, the entire world officially opens up, you know what you are doing, who your target is, etc.
Much like Origins, it just isn't one person, it is a organization, with a head, bosses, sub bosses, etc. You will know like the key figure heads however everything else under them, who they are working with, what they control etc, you will have to discover yourself.
Combat is pretty straight forward. Dodge, parry, light attack, heavy attack, charged attacks. You can upgrade your gear, weapons, etc. When the map finally is available to you, for me it was after 2 hours, the world is a pretty good sized map. Now I know why it will take 80 hours or more. It is a hell of a lot of area to explore. From the looks of it, all of Japan.
From the looks of it, grant it early on in the game, Ubisoft look like they went back to their roots. I see elements of Origin, AC2 and Brotherhood in the game. Seem to be way more story focused and not action hack n slash oriented like Valhalla and Odyssey were.Comment

One of the few games to actually take advantage of the PS5 Pro extra power.Comment

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows: AC Japan
I'm definitely looking forward to playing this game. I have it set to come in tomorrow or Saturday through Gamefly. I'm seeing reports that a PSSR patch will come post launch. So, I'm debating on holding off playing it until the PSSR patch comes inComment

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows: AC Japan
Outside of the political agenda, I'm intrigued. Can anybody tell me how it compares to Ghost of Tsushima? Might pick it up tomorrow on my day off.Last edited by onetonmartin; 03-20-2025, 12:17 PM.Comment

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows: AC Japan
I am a few hours in and the story is already miles better than Valhalla. I enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima, and this feels familiar but with that AC flavor. Combat isn't as challenging as Ghost, but it's fun. I really enjoy the game so far.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows: AC Japan
The different seasons and the weather effects in this game is insane. Haven't seen weather like this since Red Dead Redemption 2. I explored a tad bit far to an area that is way too powerful for me, got killed fast. I like how you can lay prone and belly crawl around.Comment

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows: AC Japan
Alright, got up to level 5 for armor and katana. Not going to lie, if you reckless, even people the same level as you can take you out very quickly. Haven't progressed much in the story due to trying to find resources in order to build stuff and upgrade stuff. Did a contract, which I thought would be easy, NOPE.
I must say nothing appear to be easy in this game other than tiny bandit camps, but even then they can be a problem if too many people see you. 2 people you can handle, 3 or more than it becomes a you might die in the next 10 seconds kind of moment. So stealth, scouting and planning is the name of the game for this game for sure. Tried to attack a temple. Man I barely made it out of there. I can only imagine how hard castles will be.
But yeah due to how much stuff costs to do in the game, I can easily see me spending 100 hours or more in this game. Mainly due to resources aren't easy to come by, you definitely have to work for them via doing contracts, raiding bandit camps, temples, castles, etc.
I do love you can talk to people and NPCs talk among themselves.Comment

Devs did a great job on this game. Very nice indeed! I don't see it as assassins creed, this is my current generation Tenchu lol.Comment

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows: AC Japan
15 hours later and I finally made it to the part of the story where I can switch between Naoe and Yasuke. So yeah you play as the lady for very long time only.Comment
