Turning on widescreen and progressive scan made this game even look more incredible. Fighting the hydra right off the bat just makes you want more. The way you can rip people apart and drop 30-40 move combos in a heartbeat make you want more, in fact, I'm going to go back and play some more.

Listen to the hype, buy this game.
Man...I loved RE4, and this is better?!?!
I told myself I wouldn't do it, but I'm going to pick it up tomorrow...along with MX vs. ATV Unleashed.

Sully, I think this game is just flat out awsome, I really don't play much but sports games, but this game is really just that good . Thats just from playing 10 minutes, I hope they make more then one of these game, this could very well be my new favorite series right now. I don't know how much I will play tonight, I going to my room right now to watch Million dollar baby.

I'm about three hours into the game now... Guess what? It gets even BETTER. This is the most impressive game I've played in many years...

Agreed. My jaw hit the floor about 2 minutes in and the puddle of drool is only getting bigger.

First impressions...the graphics are epic. The stories you read about Poseidon and the monsters in the sea...they weren't as good in your head as they are in this game! I'm about two hours in and decided to take a breather after the first level. The first thing I loved about this game is the camera. I'm a huge Metal Gear fan, and the third one had about the best story I've seen in a game. But the experience was hampered by an old, non-responsive camera. Although I started yearning for a "look around" button to enjoy the plush environments, you almost don't need it. It's really that good.

As far as the controls, they're pretty much seamless when you're pulling off combos. I didn't read the manual, so the game does a great job teaching you moves as you go and saves them in the pause menu if you want to look at the combos you've unlocked and all the other cool stuff like power ups that increase your health, moves, and all that good stuff.

Mini games and boss fights are ingenious! I didn't play RE4 and don't have a ton of these games under my belt, but the boss fight I just won was so well thought out. The things you can do outside of your usual attacks thanks to the mini games are far from trivial and really add a flare to your combat. Other things I love are the music and the narration...this old lady who does the story telling was made for this role! If you have a nice sound system capable of 5.1, it's almost overwhelming...the things you're fighting give off some amazing screams and sounds!

One closing comment. I'm a sports gamer, pausing to play the Metal Gears and Splinter Cells...the game I was originally saving for until GoW broke on the scene! I'm pretty excited because I've never played anything like God of War. So if you think you've played something remotely close to this game, I want to know about it so I can play that too! Otherwise, you need to check out why this thing is so unique and insanely addictive. Minus some random boobs that seemed out of place, GoW seems perfectly set and the things you can do in these environments has replay value written all over it. A PS2 masterpiece in my opinion. Hope my impromptu review is helpful to some...or atleast a good read for those who are stunned with me!

Now I'm wishing I didn't just buy Brothers in Arms. I don't even care about the $, I just don't have time to play all these games.
