Just enjoy both. Frankly nobody knows much about either, so we'll have to wait until E3.

just to remind yall.... there is a reason the 360 appears to be so 'cheap'. there will be no HD in it. that cost extra. and ive read that to play XBL, so gotta have the HD... now i dont have any idea how much the HD will cost, but ill prob spend over $600 the day it comes out, for the system, HD, extra controllers, games.... maybe even more money than that....

I'll be in line on launch day, regardless of price. The same probably goes for the PS3, although I'm reconsidering it because I haven't touched my PS2 in months.

Something that I'm expecting them to do is have some type of memory already on the system. The Hard drive won't be release the same day. Doesn't sound logical enough. I think they'll give us a couple of weeks and stuff. Still, almost a whole year between consoles. Ironically, this might be bad for the PS3 for the simple fact that MS will have a few months with a few gamess already established. I do hope that XBOX Live is seriously free this time around....

I doubt it. They are talking about putting microcharges on everything. Even unlocking stuff in the game that you already purchased.

XBL wont be free, and to play XBL, you have to have the harddrive (from what i have read, obviosuly nothing is official).... the HD will be released on launch day. i see no reason why it wouldnt be

It kinda sucks that I have school another year, I would want NOBODY to find out I had the new Xbox. I'd be paranoid as hell, and I'd all of a sudden have a whole buncha "friends" who want to play my new console. And I definitely wouldn't dare leave the room if anyone is playing it........

I remember getting the PS2 at launch, but I felt the need to leave it at home until the following year (2001) before I even took it to school.......

Maybe the price on the console and some of the accessories will drop a tad by summer of 06 when I graduate........ which will be just in time for NCAA Football and Madden.

One reason why they wouldn't is to get more people involved in buying it. If they see what they're missing, then they'd have more a chance in buying it. Also, I don't think they're putting microcharges on little things like the unlocking of stuff in a game already purchased. That's with online play that you want to use within your game. Like if someone makes a cool headband or jersey, you can download that jersey instead of trying to make it and use it within your game. Or, if there's a game that has levels that you can customize and someone has it or the server has a download, then they'll give it to you for a small price. It won't be extreme like that. I also heard that the HD will possibly give you a free few months on it. MS isn't that heartless that they're trying to hit our wallets that much without a equivalent return in it.

What school do you go to? That's not cool man. If you do buy it, don't hide it, cause then kats will be quick to take it off your hands on the real. Somehow, I've realized that. When you're free with your things with reasonable wisdom, you don't have to worry. When you're hard pressed to be uptight, you gotta be careful. People don't like stinginess. Still, I feel you on the real. I'm real curious to find out what school you're at?

i read an article (think it might have been from IGN) from the GDC that said it was rumored in order to play on XBL, you had to have the HD. Since the HD will be pretty pricey, it was also rumored that MS will include at least a years worth of XBL in the HD package, to try and make it more appealing. Obviosuly nothing is official yet, but thats just whats floating around there at this time.

The rumor is, if you won't backwards compatibility, and custom soundtracks, you'll have to buy the hard drive. That's what IGN said, and the other sites that had articles on Xenon. I never read or heard, you'll have to have it to play on XBL. I can see them packing it with a bunch of goodies though, because history has shown add-ons don't sell very well.

With the forthcoming Xbox 2 release this fall and unveiling at E3 (Well, we think. We thought CES and GDC, too.) we've heard about Xbox 2's add-on HDD. Well, we've heard from a source within MS about X2's hard drive functionality.

In essence, it's a huge memory card. Bring your game saves, DLC, characters, MP3s, and saved replays to your friend's house. Load in your HDD and show your friend your kick *** character, or a PHAT RIDE, YO! Show him the course you made in PGR3, or the gametype you created in PDZ. Transfer saves, items, levels, and more with them (via memory card or Live? This info wasn't clarified). It won't be the supposed iPod killer. More like a portable Xbox Identity. Plug it into any Xbox and it'll know your Live account, stats, preferences, saves, and all of that good stuff. Think of it similar to Pokémon. Lugging around your GB(Color) with Pokémon Red. Someone has Pokémon Blue, you trade some Pokémon and say good day. You can do this with saves, items, or whatever the developer wants. This should also be a Live feature, the way it was stated to us (Or perhaps just a Xbox Live marketplace feature, with the hard drive enabling it).

It won't be a normal IDE hard drive. One, because if you drop it and dislodge the head, you wasted the extra cash and your info is gone. Two, because of hackers. It's going to be durable, portable, and sleek. He suggested it'd be "pretty fashionable" if you choose to alter it's exterior looks with stickers or whatever.

It will be pre-loaded with some things, to entice buyers. Obviously, what's pre-loaded was not even hinted at.

E3 starts May 17th. Look for more information (and probably leaks) in the upcoming month leading up to this year's Conference and Expo.

Quick clarification: There is a means to save your games internally built into each Xbox 2 and for developers to use as a cache. You do NOT need the additional hardware to save your games. You will need it for the custom soundtrack functionality, however. Sorry about the confusion.

I think this sounds cool, and hope the rumor is true, it does match up with some patents for Xenon. Also both IGN and Gamespy said the samething, that you'll have 2GB built-in for game cache. The hard drive add-on will probably be a flash drive, because Microsoft signed a deal last year with M-Systems the leaders in flash data storage.
