The entire football pro abd baseball pro lines were sierra. Kings Quest, Police Quest, Space Quest, Leisure Suit Larry all were Sierra games and they were the cutting edge games of their time.

They even laid off a few people didn't they? Earlier this year as a matter of fact. I kind of feel bad for them and the NFL for taking the foolish way and making that exclusive deal. One question from me is how much do they expect to earn from Madden to get out of this minor trouble that their in? Yeah, it's a good game but how many employees will it pay in the long run? Ironically, notice how the article speaks only of EA being hit hard from the next-gen console (NGC) hype. Maybe it wasn't the NGC that cause EA to miss out on their money.

That would be a good one. Didn't EA have a good amount of UBISOFT's stock in their possession? I wonder if they sold it off or not. Anyone have an idea? Oh my, Oh my, Oh my, they're getting No Love
My only question is how does them getting the exclusive rights to the NFL and all the licensing rights that go along with it equate to being foolish? Any company put into the same position, with the opportunity to possibly lock out your direct competition would do it in a heartbeat, period. Every company I can think of would gladly lock out their competition if given the chance, from Nintendo down to McDonalds. I hate to start a flame war and I am in no way a fan boy but I find it more foolish the deal that Take Two signed with the MLBPA considering all it does is kill off EA from making professional baseball games using real players etc. but it keeps competition around from Sony and from what I hear the MLB series from Sony is better then the series currently made by Take Two anyways. The only argument that can be made is that EA didnt need the license to make money since they were already making it but given the option to lock out all direct competition in regards to Madden football was simply a no brainer.

Well, to answer your first question, it's foolish not towards the company as a whole but as a move that should not have went down. Honestly, the foolishness is for those who believe this move is good which it isn't. Though many have that faith in EA, they have a horrible track record when there wasn't any competition, let alone competition that was clearly moving into their turf and taking their "lazy" money. EA is a company known for halfing around for money not worth the product. Honestly, you can probably give me all the good things that EA has done and things, but then comparing them from year to year would only make you reconsider what you think.

Nother reason why the deal was foolish was because of the lack of money circulating within the company. They've loss more than they can take on. This deal is official, but the outcome won't be seen until we see the next game. I'm betting they're praying for a miracle swamping of this game. So far, from the commercial, many people have stuck with their mindset of boycotting EA. Personally, I still see them as not being graphically skilled enough to keep my interest. Yeah, you're a fan boy if you think their graphics were even comparable to 2k's.

You speak of every company, if given the opportunity to lock their competition out, would do it. How exactly do you know this? So far, by the looks of it, 2K did have the opportunity but chose not to. Why? Well, they kept in competition. Competition is good for the consumer as well as the companies because it is an indirect comparision of things that can be improved on and new innovations that can be grasped. Honestly, that's one big company right there that would be a clear answer to your question. Of course, there might be more companies that would, but there are companies out there that have the mindset to make a great game even if the money won't come through. If this new Millenium has showed me anything, it showed me that I can trust the little guys in the gaming industry much better than I could with the big guys.

I won't disagree that the baseball game is currently garbage from 2K cause it surely is. Spacing bad, horrible depth charts, lack of animations, lack of proportions, heck of a lot of horrible animations. Don't even play the game and I know that it's horrible. I know that Sony made a great game too. Thing is that this competition that is present between the consoles and 2K is a great thing. It give 2K the opportunity to try out other games and take the good points compared to what they have. I bet you EA slightly will implement the juke stick from 2K but will keep it bland for the rest of the deal. EA is a lazy company that has taken on too many employees that it has to "feed" through the pumping out of games. Many are good, but most are subpar to what their expectations should be. Need examples: Madden, Live, MM, FIFA Street, NFL STREET, Fight Night R2, NFS: Underground 2. Those are just the ones I've come across, but not necessarily played. You started no flaming. It was your thought and idea. These are mines. I respect you. Just a small debate. Be my guest....
