I'm curious to know if anyone there could discredit this article in falsehood or lies of that nature? Honestly, the article did make me wonder where Sony was to defend themselves and pimpslap them kats back....however, Sony's camp has been quite quiet for a few months now except for the new football and basketball games they are trying to put on the current system. I could relate to that system because it had so many good games on it and because I heard so much positive out of it. However, it wasn't anything compared to my Dreamcast which died off....

He even gave quotes, but from where is what I'd like to know. It was a smart article to kick Sony in the balls again, or at least swing the leg in that direction. One reason why I'm in support of the XBOX 360 now is the amount of people who were with Sony who have jumped onto Microsoft's back to ride that horse. I mean, all those AAA developers that made those AAA titles are sleeping with the enemy. What does Sony honestly have? I heard of their overheating of the Cell. I hear that the release date is pushed back. Honestly, they're milking their PSP and slim PS2. Not cool.

I won't lie. I'm a Microsoft lover. I like my American product because it has proved to me that it can withstand the competition, and even outperform it when given the chance. My support is American second, and product quality first. XBOX seems to be the superior product. I have both systems. Only reason I kept the PS2 is because it was convenient for free (but subpar) online and I could use my hard drive & HDLoader to....you know!! I don't know if talking about it is legal on here and I sure don't want to get banned. Still, I'm curious to see what Sony says. They have a site similar to TeamXBOX right? Someone find an article and even up the score. Otherwise, we'll just have to wait for the E3 masquerade to unveil itself. Sony was showing before E3 too right from what I hear? Shoot, it's getting closer....

It's the first rule in persuasive speaking/writing, jmood. You have to have competence, credibility, and good will. Can the author be competent? Absolutely. Can he, however, have good credibility when he writes for a competitor's website? Possibly, but unlikely. Does he have good will? No. Anything that is written about his competitor is only aimed to boost the status of his own product while reducing the status of his competitor's. Take any persuasive speaking/writing class and you won't be so quick to question why everyone else looks at that article with a skeptical eye.

There is a difference between having a healthy skepticism and simply dismissing a piece of writing without reading it because of its source. The latter is just laziness, nothing more.

while not being a unbiased site, I did feel the article brought up some good points...Xbox Live just kills PS2 online in every way IMO...

It will be interesting to see how these releases go, Sony doesn't has as much of a captive market like they did when the PS2 dropped. Xbox is a much more serious challenger than the Dreamcast or GameCube were. Back then Playstation 1 was THE system to have, but now gamers have 2 valid choices.

There is a difference between having a healthy skepticism and simply dismissing a piece of writing without reading it because of its source. The latter is just laziness, nothing more.

I read the article. I was just educating young jmood on why it is perfectly reasonable to look at it with a skeptical eye. I play PS2 because I like the controller and I only play one game a year, NCAA Football. I don't get into the stupid console war that so many people here seem to love to fight so much.

Who really cares about consoles...For the most part they play the same games and they both have a few exclusive games. To be honest, on most games I can't tell a difference between the consoles.

I read the article. I was just educating young jmood on why it is perfectly reasonable to look at it with a skeptical eye. I play PS2 because I like the controller and I only play one game a year, NCAA Football. I don't get into the stupid console war that so many people here seem to love to fight so much.

I knew that people would think that it was a fanboy article because it's from teamxbox but I wanted to know why people were dismissing it without even looking at it first.

Disagree. Just that we've seen good last system and we want the best. So far, though Sony is bragging, they're not really impressing. Kind of how EA vs. 2K was last year with their basketball. EA was speaking everything while 2K kept it closed until a certain time. They both turned out great. However, in this battle, it seems to be one-sided. Though Sony might be keeping it quiet, they should be pushing to say something to gain those customers back. Hype is more than we expect it to be within this league. If they don't get a good hype wagon going, that might be a bad thing. This next-gen will make or break either system. So far, only one company seems to realize that. Personally, MS is appealing to me cause they're saying and showing what I want. Still nothing from Sony though. Can only hope that I have to make a choice to return one for the other or go bankrupt and buy both. We'll see....

I don't get some of your post. To keep it short why does Sony have to show anything? The system won't be out until NEXT YEAR. E3 2006 will be the PS3's time to shine not this year. The name of this thread is "Sony and The Hype Machine" right? Then trust me when the time comes you will see tons of hype.

It works both ways, people were saying "well why is EA hyping/marketing next gen Madden now " "Oh they're just wasting their advertising money hyping something thats a year away" etc etc... Its pretty much the same thing, doesn't make sense to put the hype machine in full gear when you're more than a year away from the starting line.

Oh yea and Sony is keeping quite for a reason, maybe just maybe they have something good to show and they don't want to let the cat out the bag too early for once.

Also do some checking, this hype surrounding the PS3 most of it has been IBM, media and developers not once have I seen Sony releasing anything claiming PS3's power. Of course they could deny all these power claims, but why. Why turn down free hype? Every company loves free hype.

Give things time to play out, we're close enough to E3.
