World of Warcraft and other MMORPG....who plays?

i got a 14 trail of WoW in my maxim magazine. ive been playing it since about thursday or friday. im hooked. i want to buy the retail version but dont want to pay to play online. i know guild wars is free. i beta tested guildwars and it was cool but i dont remember much and im still not sure if getting that will satisfy my want to play WoW.

is guild wars as good as WoW? similarities and differences?

I love WoW! The economy in WoW is very well put together and is in game. From what I have read WoW is much better than GW, but I have never played GW.

If you decide to buy WoW PM Me b/c I think I can get it cheap for you and I get a bonus from it too

MMORPG = massive mulitplayer online role playing game.

Well since I bought WoW I haven't bought any other CPU games so the charge doesn't bother me. WoW is also constantly upgraded by the programmers. During Halloween there were pumpkins and special quests. Similar stuff for Christmas!

I don't think GW is a true MMORPG either.

            So sad.

One year ago, I was enjoying the greatness that was WoW. Now, I have neither the money, nor the time.

what are good skills to learn? alchemy, herbalism and the other ones like this seem boring to me. skinning and mining seem more useful to me because you can make armor and weapons. i guess i answered my own question. i just dont want al my characters to be miners and skinners.

Herbalism and Alchemy can net you some AWESOME potions.
Mining and Engineering is good for making trinkets that go boom.
Skinning and Leatherworking is good for making leather armor.

If you do just skinning and mining you will not actually create any goods, you will just find stuff to sell at the AH (Auction House)

What server are you on? I have recently started an Alliance character on "Gurubashi". And remember if you are going to get the full version drop me a line.

no i meant skinning and mining as the base skills and whatever else you get with them. i didnt remember which ones went with them.

i dont remember what server im on. i have 4 chars in one server and 5 in another. one was deleted so i made him again.

Re: World of Warcraft and other MMORPG....who plays?

I split time between eq2 and WOW. Renting out a teamspeak server for 4 bucks a months and about 5 RL friends and I get on and play. Amazing what a difference voice communication would make with a bunch of friends.

Have mains on argent dawn, zul jin and dark iron. I got burnt out in May but came back with a few friends deciding only to play a couple of times a week. Its worked out great.

EQ2 is the deeper game to me, and i have been playing that since the summer. Been having a great time with it since i started.

I would usually spend a couple of hundred bucks a month on games which would I would end up returning or giving away after a couple of weeks. Now i pay 30 bucks a month to play both games and couldnt be happier.

Gathering skills will make you money. Some of the other creation professions are fun and help you become self sufficient, but end up not being used as much in the long run(sucks when the stuff you make is worse than the items found off of mobs or in instances). Crafting system is a bit on the simple side, but for what it tries to do, it works.

Everything said here is pretty much on point. Voice communication with your group/friends makes a HUGE difference in both PvE and PvP.

Like Bacardi I actually spend less per month on games and what not, so the fees arent bad at all.

Gathering skills will make you money and are a bit more reliable than most other professions, though there are some plans and sch in other professions that can make tons of money (Weaponsmithing and Arcanite Reaper comes to mind).

Honestly I have ALOT of fun playing WOW and it can appeal to most all playstyles.

I have a couple guys on Twisting Nether and on Earthen Ring.

If you are interested in playing feel free to PM bryan_05 or myself. Active players can give out up to 3 mail in rebates so you can buy WoW for 20 bucks.

Can't really comment on that as I wasn't able to fuly get into EQ2 due to my guild/clan buddies weren't into playing.

And to me Guild Wars is more of a PvP type game only with little interaction elsewhere.

Just my 2 cents. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

I spend a lot of time in SWG and WoW. SWG was such a radical overhaul, most of the playerbase hopped ship. You don't buy an RPG game and have it turned into a twitch-style quasi-FPS and keep the playerbase happy. Personally, I enjoy the hell out of the new game play now that the server lag and crap is gone. Nothing beats breaking out a lightsaber and cutting a swath through 6 or 7 equal-level humanoid NPC's. Once you hit mid-levels (level cap is 90 in SWG), you really start getting that "Jedi feel" (if you play a Jedi at least) in PvE. Blocking blaster bolts, force running and firing lightning at mobs, slowing them down and just tearing them a new one.

WoW will always be the gem of turn-based MMO's, but SWG is a fresh experience for me so far with the oft-bashed "NGE".

Darn you TCrouch!!! You made it actually sound fun. Not like it was to me on release. I still have nightmares of leveling my TKA up. =P

I might have to give tht a second look.. Hopefully they have a free trial or so involved.

Re: World of Warcraft and other MMORPG....who plays?

I have an absolute blast with it. It's closer to Battlefront II with a character development model than it is the old SWG. No more setting up a macro and going to grab something to eat during combat lol.

It's almost TOO hectic since your swings are roughly 4x faster than they used to be. You have to keep your cursor on a target and hold LMB to attack it (melee or ranged), then you have to hit the # keys to queue a special move, then hit RMB to activate the special...while it's available (everything cycles quickly after a hit so you either have to stop hitting or have catlike reflexes to toss the special out RIGHT as you finish your melee hit, etc).

So you're basically holding LMB, hitting 7, letting go of LMB and hitting RMB quickly, holding LMB again and going back to 1, then RMB/LMB once more, etc. Toss in heals and running around and you have some seriously chaotic combat. NPC's kite you like a player would most of the time too, so as a Jedi you either force bolt them or saber throw (at level 38 at least) to snare them and slow them down.

As a ranged it's quite a bit easier. Hold the cursor over them and fire until your guy reloads (weird how you have to reload a laser rifel, but oh well). Your guy also reloads after combat ends, so if you just wait a sec before pulling again you won't run out of ammo halfway through a fight.

Commandos can take out huge groups of mobs with a frag grenade/stun grenade/cone shot combo. I mean 4 or 5 equal level mobs packed together=5 quick kills with no risk to the Commando. However your specials are only good from 14 meters, so you better just unload on them.

Bounty Hunters have insane special abilities for 1 on 1 ranged combat. Snares, heavy hitting rifle shots, etc.

Spies are like WoW rogues. Cloak, stealthed assassinate big hits, what have you.

Smugglers do everything but smuggle lol. They do have 3 separate snare lines and are lethal with the pistol. They need dual wield but don't have it.

You have the Officers that debuff targets or buff groupmates, plus medics and entertainers, etc.

There's 9 professions now instead of 32 so it's about as different as it gets. They have a 14 day trial too.

Sounds like it might be worth a download. I love the Battlefront Series and need something to replace the Battlefield 1942 Mod Galactic Conquest. If the new SWG is at least as fun as those I will probably enjoy it.

What is the class balance like?

Are there a tons of BH's running around like I remember from the original? Or are there millions of Jedi about?
