Re: WoW OSers?
As for what realm/faction, the first thing to consider is do you know anyone else who plays and do you want to play with them. If so, just choose the same realm and faction as them. That's what I did. If neither of those are factors, just choose whatever seems the most interesting to you.
If you like pvp and like the added chance of random fights against other people then by all means choose a pvp server. Personally I don't like the idea of getting ganked when I am trying to finish something before leaving the house, but a lot of people like the challenge. If you don't want that, choose pve, you can always flag yourself for pvp if you want.PS: You guys are great.

Re: WoW OSers?
By far the best recent addition to the game. As a tank I usually wait about 3 seconds to get into a dungeon. Racking up emblems is easy as pie these days.
Once you get to Level 50 you can do well to just run dungeons, collect gear, and level up. Blackrock Depths is still my favorite. There is a feature that I used with a friend called Recruit a Friend. What you do is get an invite from an existing player who will send you a 10 day trial. You get your friend to start a new character with you and you get 3x exp all the way until level 60 as long as you and your friend are within 3 levels of each other. Also when you subscribe your friend gets a free month. There are other perks to it as well such as free mounts and things like that. I did it with my buddy and by Level 40 we would level up every dungeon run. It was ridiculous. Check it out if your interested:

Re: WoW OSers?
I'd recommend going with a PVE server first until you know if you're into PvP or not. As far as which alliance and character to go with, that's all you. First of all do you know anyone that plays? If so, I'd definately join their server and their side. If not, then which characters interest you the most? I've always been an Alliance guy but the new Goblin race in the next expansion has me wanting to try Horde.Alright fellas, need some tips. Getting a new desktop soon after I get rid of my laptop, and am gonna give this game a shot. I really enjoyed my time with the trial on my old computer, but my laptop just won't run it. I didn't really know what I was doing then, just kind of doing my own thing.
For a complete newbie to this come, what would you guys recommend? I'm talking about in terms of alliance, character, realm, playtype (PVE, PVP, whatever else there is), etc.
I see you guys talking about east coast/west coast servers and stuff, and if it helps, i'm in Maine. I believe when I started last time, I was a Hunter in the alliance, as I didn't know much about guilds/factions/etc., so I picked one that seemed good for soloing. How far can you get in this game just by soloing? I don't mind running with other people, but i'd be a little intimidated starting this late and trying to figure out what to do on raids, as I don't have a clue about them.
Basically, i'm looking for basic tips for starting out, such as realm, character, and any other opinions you guys can provide.
I've played on a West coast server before and I'm in Georgia. Had no problems but I do find if I play on an East coast server my latency is alot better thus running slightly smoother. So I wouldn't really sweat too much about where the server is located.
You could almost solo all the way to 80 by yourself. It'd be hard work and rather boring in my opinion. Main thing, don't worry about getting a late start. Just jump in and enjoy the game. You'll learn it all as you go.Comment

Re: WoW OSers?
I'm on a PVP server, Stormreaver, with an 80 mage and rogue. Found a good raiding guild, too. It's very close to 50/50 Alliance and Horde on this server, which I don't mind. I always hated owning WG 24 hours a day. It meant I couldn't gank alliance in the keep on my rogue. Both my toons are around 6k gs, and my rogue pulls ridiculous dps in ICC. Wish I could raid more, but got a lot going on right now.Comment

I went to re-intall this and I can't find my disk since I moved and have no clue, I did find my disk for the Wrath if LK and was wondering do I have to re-purchase or can Blizzard send me a download since you have to enter a key? Thanks in advanceThe poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: WoW OSers?
I'm still humming along in this game. I got my paladin to 80 this month and have been gearing up through heroics and bg's. My buddy and I are trying arenas and I tank for pve. As a tank, you do rake in badges fast and I have a full set of tier 9 and badge gear.
I'd like to raid icc and get some t10 before the new expansion. I know that they'll be replaced by quest greens, but I've been reading that it's not as fast as some people think
My character is Perceptor on Hydraxis - Horde. I also have Silverbolt - a level 80 death knight. If you OS'ers ever decided to move together to a server, I'd be there too

Re: WoW OSers?
Started out as a night elf hunter a couple days ago on a new player server. I'm thinking i'm gonna regret that decision. They're have been a couple quests where I had trouble finding anyone to group up. I instead had to level up all day until I could complete the quest myself. It was usually just due to being outnumbered. How quickly do new player servers fill up in the long run? I'd hate to start over with a night elf, because I really enjoy playing as one, but if it's to a point where I can hardly find anyone to team up with, it could get frustrating.
Up to level 11 when I left off last night. I'm still not entirely certain that that i've been picking the right areas to level up. That's usually my problem in RPG's, I want to play a bunch of different character types at once, so I never focus on making one area strong. We'll see how it works out. Is there a re-spec option?
What experiences have you guys had in medium capacity servers? Do you typically have to wait to play, and are the other people receptive to newbs? I still don't really know what i'm doing, as it took me forever and a day to realize how to send someone a message
If you guys are on any medium capacity realms, let me know. Maybe i'll start up a second character on one after I play a bit more.Comment

I'm on the horde side of Arygos. Believe it's medium or high populated and I've never had to wait to log onto the server.Started out as a night elf hunter a couple days ago on a new player server. Arygos was a brand new server when my old guild moved over to it and luckily the server grew (last time I checked the server was around 10k) so its in the medium-high range. No lag ever and of the 3 years I was there, never ever had to wait to get into the server. With any server really, you're looking at ghost towns in the lower levels. You really dont need to bother with the group quests with how gear was re-worked (made it WAY easier to level with the stats pumped up and your XP is boosted as well now).
How are you liking Arygos, Holic?
I got an interesting email about my account/characters being compromised and restored.. I haven't logged on in months so that was strange.Aaron
