    Official Wildstar Thread

As to not clutter up the General MMO thread.

Here's what we have for characters so far, just post in here (or PM me if you want, either way).

(Faction) Server - Character Name (user)
    (Exile) Thunderfoot - Bubbsy (ubernoob)
    (Exile) Thunderfoot - Sturridge (Perceptor)
    (Exile) Thunderfoot - Thudster (Cubfan)
    (Exile) Thunderfoot - Coben (av7)
(Exile) Caretaker - Zehpas (The JareBear)
    (Exile) Thunderfoot - SarahJinstar (SpectralThundr)
    Also, to note:

This game shipped with a horrible FOV. It's defaulted to 50, which may make everything seem a little flat. There are two ways to go about changing this.

    Spoiler

Here's a screenshot for comparisons. This may have a small effect on FPS depending on your machine, since you are able to see more, thus more is being rendered.

The only thing I touched in these screenshots was the FoV. I don't play in first-person, but I used First Person to take these pictures to show the difference in FoVs.

    Default FoV (50)

    FoV set to 60

FoV set to 70 *my personal choice*

Didn't realize the FOV until I tried out a higher FOV, huge difference compared to the default

          Question.

I had hoped that this game followed the D3/GW2/ESO/host of other games system of still advancing your character after lvl 50 (like how you still can earn earn skill points in GW2 and ESO after 50, and in D3 you can still earn those paragon levels to make small upgrades to your stats).

Is that the case or is it the WoW/CoH model where you each level cap and after that it is all about gear?

Not complaining either way, just wondering. I am one who has the most fun making my character stronger and expanding on my abilities so I will probably lvl each class to 50 like I did in CoH before settling for end-game gear raiding.

Thanks for any input on this matter, just curious how it works. Liking the game A LOT either way.

            Re: Official Wildstar Thread

I haven't looked at much in regards to end-game other than their raids.

Got to level 20 today, had a few moments of being pissed because some mobs kept stomping me out relatively easy while Esper guys were just shredding stuff. Mob difficulty turned up at level 15 (I stopped at 14 in the beta) so that was pleasant and not pleasant at the same time.

The housing was probably my highlight of the day. Added some plot stuff like a garden and craft station to get a better grasp on the crafting. The crafting with its tech tree seems really neat so I'm actually looking forward to leveling it up.

Indeed. I've never been a big housing person in game but they a fantastic job with everything and giving choices and making housing matter at the same time.

Also, what's your character name av? I tried sending you a friend request (I also made an OS circle) but I'm not sure if I even have the right character name.

JareBear, in terms of progression I believe it's mainly just gear and elder gem stuff, however there are a bunch of challenges... and even just attuning to the 20 man raid will take quite some time. I wouldnt be surprised if the majority of players (outside the legitimate raiders) aren't even close to raiding by the end of the year. This game is closer to Vanilla WoW than any other in that manner.

I'm also still having a blast PvPing while leveling. It's pretty good XP... and don't mess with Medic in DPS form at times, wow.

As long as our team isn't running into pre-made groups (can't deal with the swarm since teamwork is iffy in randoms) it seems like I can do fairly well in this game.

I hit lvl 15 and I still haven't even gotten to Thayd because of all the side quests from the realm before it (cant think of the game right now). I had to drop some of the side quests and am now just doing the region and main story quests.

I think I am going to role a dps/healer (leaning toward esper, but I need to try slinger and medic all for at least a few levels to get a better feel) on Thunderfoot. Now that they announced server tranfers are coming soon to combat the queue issues, I will probably bring my current main, the 15 engy, over to Thunderfoot as well.

I haven't even jumped into any of the group finder activities yet, no pvp or anything, obviously haven't unlocked dungeons yet. Can't wait to get into that stuff. Have been too invested in the questing and getting my mining/weaponsmith up

                      EDIT

THANK YOU for that FOV fix. Moving it to 70 has made the game so much better for me.

I've been waiting for an MMO to really grab my attention like World of Warcraft did when that initially launched and WildStar has been doing it for me, alot actually.

I love alot of things with this game and hope that the content continues to roll out. There are a few annoyances though (memory leak, add-ons aren't optimized to lessen the resource load) but for me, it's not dampening my mood with the game.

A lot of things that I love(d) from other games seem to have found it's way into WildStar.

I'm just gonna go ahead and say... don't be expecting to beat the dungeons in a pick up/random group any time soon. They're no joke.

Went in at 20 and that group literally didn't make it past the first trash pull.

Beat it in a guild group today, however. It was with people I've played other games with and we used Mumble to coordinate and we still wiped twice. Much smoother, but man the dungeons are heavily involved. Very fun though.

I got a question, did you guys always have a story quest going on or was there a break?

I finished the augmentator quest in the celestion area, the one before thayd, and I didn't get any new quest, so I have headed over to Thayd and checked out my house, checked out the vendors and stuff, still nothing story wise. Should I just keep doing the side tasks until something pops up or do you think I am bugged?

Not sure. From the beginning (level 6 or so) I had already leveled to 10 via PvP and outleveled my quests by a couple levels. I'm a completionist when it comes to questing and achievements, though, so I finish everything I pick up before moving on.

Didn't go the Celestion route ever, though, so I can't help ya there.
