Not sure if this game will hold my interest like CoH

When I first got WoW I was hooked, getting home from work and logging on and playing for hours at a time. The last few days it has just not been the same. I did a nice 6 hour marathon Saturday morning but since then the most I can play my dwarf for is about 15 minutes.

SAturday night 15 minutes, log off and play CH
Sunday I tried twice with both sessions lasting only a few minutes and then jumping back to the Xbox.

    Monday- same

Last night I tried again and nothing. So I decided to try a new character. First I played a gnome for maybe 20 minutes but it just did not feel "new".

So I said screw it, I am going to try out some Hoard. I made a Tauren Druid last night and ended up playing for a few hours. The Tauren environment is pretty cool. I can only really describe them and the "Indian" race. The villiage has like a tribal theme and it works well. I am doing a series of missions where I have to prove my Strength and other attributes to the "tribal" leaders. So far it is fun but it sucks that I cannot even add you guys to the friends list for just shooting the ****.

I will probably give this character some time over the next few days so if anyone is interested in playing any Hoard Races I will be playing.

The character name is Himsa. Yes it is a rehash name I use in CoH but the characters look sort of similar with the horns and stuff

I can't fathom what CoH could hold interest-wise over WoW. There's no loot, no crafting systems, nothing other than fight-fight-fight, and many of the missions seem repetitive.

To each his own, but I don't understand it .

I would not expect a MMORPG veteran to feel this way. I know CoH is a very stripped dpown MMORPG when compared to the more in-depth games on the market. I am not knocking the game but certain things about CoH I just love.

One thing I like about CoH is the fight-fight-fight. I also like that there is no crafting. Crafting is neat but I actaully like the fact that in CoH there is none. Maybe I am more of a twitch MMORPG player. Since I like the fight-fight-fight aspect I just feel the combat in CoH is better. It is a lot more interactive and I have more fun with it. I also feel that CoH plays a lot different depending on your character than WoW does. When I level in CoH and get a new power it opens up new combos to do. In WoW I feel like it is the same thing when I level that it was before.

I really like a lot about WoW and maybe it is just the Hunter Class that has me in the rut. I have not even trained in the last few Hunter skills because they just did not seem worth it.

I also like the grouping a lot more in CoH. In WoW it feels like you are in a group but still playing solo. In CoH some strategy comes into the battles that I have not seen on WoW yet.

Grant it I am not even far into the game. things could change and I plan on trying out some new classes and races to see if something grabs me. I am liking the Druid so far and maybe I should create a Night Elf druid so that I can still play with everyone.

All this being said I plan on playing WoW tonight and not CoH

Well...I'm not sure what to say, and it sounds like you're not looking for opinions anyway lol.

Combat is just as involved here, and even as a hunter you have a plethora of things you could do. The pet changes your strategy, and which sequence of specials to use helps.

Right now, I've been sending out my bear to a target, setting a fire trap on him, running my bear back to me so the target runs over the trap (taking 125 fire damage), then unleashing a serpent sting and peppering with normal shots. If the mob comes at me, I immediately let fly a concussive shot, slowing his movement drastically.

I was able to solo the Den Mother at 16 (she's level 18 and I see a ton of groups trying to get help for her), I wade through hordes of equal-level mobs.

I think there's a TON of strategy to combat. In my opinion (even though you didn't ask :P), you're outside your comfort zone. You're used to CoH, and adjusting to something else isn't what you want to do. So be it, rheller needs somebody to play with lol. I've hated crafting in almost every game, but not this system for whatever reason.

The only thing that keeps you going in a MMORPG is that next big "thing"...be it a new piece of loot, a level, whatever. In CoH, the only thing you have is levels...and abilities start becoming more and more sparse. Here you could find a badass loot drop in 10 minutes, or you could make some guns to make some money...whatever. Like I said, I can't fathom how CoH could be considered more "long term", since I think the combat in WoW is every bit as involved...it's just not super-powered. But definitely, if you end up not enjoying it, I don't think anybody is gonna crucify you

I've been keeping two characters going, and like the switch. When I get tired or frustrated, I switch characters.

The other thing I've found with Gear is exploring other parts of the game. I'm really into crafting with him. When I get tired of killing bears or whatnot, I will just look for veins, or start engineering stuff, or hit the auction house.

If you make an NE Druid, look up Tybalt. I'm still in the area and could help you out. Druids are tricky, but I really am enjoying them.

I'm also very interested in trying the Horde. Maybe I should just join you over there.

Grouping compared to CoH does suck. I agree there. The groups don't seem as tight, and it's just not as easy to group. Not only is there no form of sidekicking, the place is so damn big that it could take most of the night just getting together.

That said, I've love to get a group of us together, I haven't teamed with any OS guys yet, apart from a bit with T.

I still love the orcs, so if you decide to shift to the Horde for a bit, I wouldn't mind making one over there.

I hear what you are saying. And though I did not ask for opinions it was nice to hear about the traps. I do not have any yet so basically combat is

                        Send out Kodiak (bear)
                        fire some shots
SWitch to melee. If melee gets tough have Kodiak taunt.

Traps sound like they add some more strategy to the game. So with more playtime maybe I will get more out of it.

I like the idea of a druid with the shape shifting. Maybe all I need to do is find the right character because the World, items, missions are all great. In do time maybe the combat will get more involved for me too. I would like to run some groups because that is what I really miss from CoH. Every class doing their job the way they are suppose to, I have not been in the situation yet with WoW

If anyone wants to run Horde I am all for it. So far I like the Tauren class and remember that Terry was raving about Orcs when we first got the game. But it would probably just be easier to get a NE druid since you guys would have to abandon what you have done so far if we wanted to play together.

If I create a NE druid I would love some grouping fossen since you are still in the starter area. The only grouping I have done is just so we could basically chat in the "party line". No real missions or anything
