Re: Not sure if this game will hold my interest like CoH

I agree with you Fossen on crafting...it's remarkably fun to go out hunting for veins for mining (or herbs for herbalism)...

I find that I'm looking forward to lvl each time, and as I lvl I totally have to change my strategy. Right now I'm debating going dual daggers, dual swords, dagger/sword, there's a lot of options (I can only do some powers with a dagger in my main hand, so it's definitely not an easy choice). At 22 I get Vanish, and later on I'll end up getting 2 other powers that I'll mix into my combos. I spent most of one evening fishing and cooking to get those up, but it was remarkably enjoyable, I had a goal that wasn't just to get XP and lvl, and had fun shooting for it.

Terry can speak on my obsession with dual pearl handled daggers lol, I spent like 3 days working myself to 18, hunting for/buying everything I needed...

Also, when it concerns to grouping, once you hit 20 you start needing groups. I actually joined people on my first instance ("mission" in CoH terms, where it loads a dungeon just for that party) last night. We got creamed, and it was tough even getting to the portal, but WoW's set up to allow you to solo a lot at first, but later on pretty much require you to group for some missions...Terry's probably gotten further in beta and whatnot, so he might know more about this. I just know I'm getting quite a few "Elite" missions on my list, and those basically require a group, or for you to be 4 ish lvls above the elite guy (those elites are pretty rough).

I'm also thinking of making a mage, warlock, or something like that...let people catch up to me a bit lol...I've just enjoyed the Rogue, so I kept moving with that, steath is a totally different mindset.

Glad to hear about the group thing Mgo. When I speak of the combat of CoH being so much more fun groups is involved. Combat shines when all the classes work together. If WoW jumps to that direction around level 20 than I think I would be happy.

Maybe a different form of crafting would help me out too. Being a Skinner is just so meh. Kill, loot, skin. No exploration necessary

Re: Not sure if this game will hold my interest like CoH

yeah, getting to the portal my group was owning the lvl 17 elites (we were all about 20)...we had a mage or two, me, and warrior...We got thrashed later with higher level groups, but I think a better group strategy would work. It will definitely get useful. I know that as of now I'm so used to soloing that I have to learn how to best be a team rogue...and none of us use a mage, so it's hard to remember that they're like tissue paper, any aggro and they can die pretty fast.

I hear ya on skinning...I've done it so much (I've had 2 chars over 100 with skinning) that it's old hat now...but the other ones are pretty cool, i've spent a night mining just going to different areas looking for veins. Done the same with herbalism (though I think you'd make more money mining). Only ones I haven't tried in depth are enhancing and tailoring.

All this talk is getting more interested again (Even if 1/2 the post are mine).

Question for people who hae played with a Druid.

                    Professions

Enchanting sounds nice but there is not a really a profession that goes hand in hand with it. Do you think the profession of Enchanting and (something else) is the way to go? My other option would be Herbalism and Alchemy.

Has anyone tried Tailoring? Would that be a good to team with Enchanting. I know they do not go hand in hand but they seem like the only two pfrofessions that are not helpoed out greatly by another

I really like my NE druid. I just got my water form a couple days ago (lvl 16), but haven't played with him since. I played with my human rogue, Kade, Monday night and didn't play last night.

I understand what you are saying injun about the groups. CoH is much easier to find teams just because it is built around teaming from the beginning and you can really see each class come into play while teaming. But like Mgo said, I really think we will see teaming come into play more once we get to 20. But, like you, I have missed not running with my friends more often.

Injun, my NE druid is enchanting/tailor. I can make magical clothes and disenchant them to create ingredients for my enchanting spells or sell them. So tailoring and enchanting do work together IMO.
