      Soft foods....medicine

It's different with different people. One of my sisters struggled with it, the other had really no problems.

I had really impacted wisdom teeth, so mine were a bitch.

I had chicken the next night though, so it's not too bad. Just gotta take it easy for a few days.

It was not as bad as it sounded for me anyway. My nerves had not attached to the teeth yet so maybe thats why it was not so bad for me. You will probably be limited to eating stuff like frosties the first day then you can move on to more advanced food the next day. Just ask for drugs.

Yeah, you're really not going to get a universal answer. It truly does vary from person to person. I had mine done a couple years back and had absolutely no complications at all. It was done on a Wednesday, and I had taken the rest of the week off, but honestly could have gone back to work the next day it was that painless. You just have to keep the gauze packed, avoid the foods they tell you to, and you should be good.

But, complications could arise and it could be the most painful experience of your life. Really, from the people I've talked to about it, it's going to be one end of the spectrum or the other. You just never know until you actually have it done.

I had mine out in August. I was on the DL for like 4 days.

It aint too bad and I had all 4 out. I bought veggies but them on my cheeks and had gauze in my mouth 24/7. If you do that ur fine.

make sure u eat a lot before. And ask to be put to sleep. Your gonna feel woozy but its better trust me.

Ur gonna feel like u can eat potato chips or crackers that nite but DONT do it. ur gums will bleed and the gauze can be annoying.

Do they bother you? I still have mine in and the dentist said to me if they do not bother me and are not inflaming my gums, he is not taking them out. My wife was adamant that they were coming out and when I told her they were staying she seemed disappointed. I think she wanted to see me in pain.

I didn't think it was bad at all. The only real bad part was having to stick to soft foods for the first few days. Although mine weren't impacted and according to the Dr. were very easy to get out.

My experience wasn't good. I had 5 pulled (I had an extra one). I bleed a lot fo r 2 days and had to change the guaze in my mouth contantly. Lots of pain and it hurt to eat anything.

My experience wasn't bad at all, I had them out mid week and was fine by Friday. I didn't swell up at all, I just remember waking up from the surgery, sittin in a chair and shivering because I was freezing cold. Stick to the soft stuff and you'll be fine. My older sister had hers out and her face swole up bad, it was humorous for me though. But like other people have said, there's no universal reaction.

Yeah, everyone is pretty much right on this...It differs from person to person...From what i remember about mine, (I got it done 2 different times for each side), They put me out and the last thing i remember was the doc asking me some questions and literally the next thing i remembered was the nurse waking me up saying it's time to go that my ride was here. She said i was out for 45 mins, but it felt like 2 secs.

I was out for a couple of days after that, with the drugs and such. Just pay attention to what they tell you to avoid eating and you also can't use a straw for a while because it might open the pockets. If you don't work on the weekends, i would recommend getting it done on a thursday, so you'll have the weekend to recover and get back to work on monday. Your face'll be swollen for a couple of days though, at least on the side.

Oh yeah, not trying to scare you, but they made me sign a waiver, saying if they accidentally damaged a certain nerve that runs at the bottom of your jaw, (possibly causing permanent numbness on your jaw) they weren't liable. The doc explained it to me and informed me that it was a once in a million shot it would happen, but they had to make me sign it anyway. I believe it also has to do with how far advance/grown the tooth has become.

But other than that, it's not that bad...

Re: Anyone ever had their wisdom teeth taken out?

My experience wasn't bad because I got the top two out one summer, then the bottom two the next.

I was totally KO'd for one operation, and just novcained but awake for the second. There is some SERIOUSLY loud cracking going on if you're awake for it, but it's kinda cool since you can't feel a damn thing.

The recovery wasn't bad for the tops, I remember I had the op. at 8am and was eating KFC popcorn chicken twelve hours later. The bottoms were a little bloodier and more of a pain. I remember sitting on my couch after I got home and looked down at my shirt and there was just a giant pool of blood and drool. Once again, pretty humorous because I still couldn't feel a thing in my mouth.

But I never had any type of swelling or brusing on my cheeks/face which was great. I didn't look like I'd gotten my *** beat in a bar brawl.
