        Wooooow @ this thread

Man a lot has changed in five years, and thank the lord. That was a rough year or two. And 30 will be here momentarily.

          Anyone done this before?
If you plan on doing it in a club, reconsider, the hours would be horrible...

Basically the bartender's right hand man. Anything they want, you get.

                basically a barback is the bartender's b****.
as a barback, you mainly spot the bartender and replenish when necessary. common things you will do are restocking the ice, cutting garnishes and covering the bartender while on break. if the bartender is swamped with orders, you will have to step in assist as well. this is the most often route to take if you want to be a bartender. i am bartender as well and started as a barback. the experience you get from barbacking will help you in the long run.

Anybody have any idea about how much, on average, a bartender makes every night?
it really depends on the establishment you work at whether its a dive bar, pub, sports bar, lounge, wine bar, hotel, club, and etc. places that serve food earn the most usually. i bartend at a lounge in san francisco and working happy hour can net me around $200 with tips. nights sometimes push me over $300.

moving to miami is great for you since the nightlife there is strong. you will most likely end up barbacking before you get your first gig as a bartender. i recommend barbacking at clubs or places that serve a high volume of drinks. most managers look for people who have experience in a high volume setting, that way they know youre capable keeping up with the flow when it gets busy.

I thought about putting that but wanted to be more nice. But yeah, pretty much.
