    11 WV miners dead.

Not sure if this goes in this forum, but after being told 12 out of the 13 miners lived, now they are saying only 1 lived. I'm sick to my stomach about this. That mine should be closed. This makes me so mad.

I've been watching this all day... I wasn't sure whether to post any of the information in here or not. I was so happy when I heard that 12 of 13 were found alive, but I guess it was "miscommunication". This is very unfortunate.

At the moment, the death toll may be 13. The survivor is in a local hospital in critical condition. Let's hope and pray for him while we can.

nah, he'll live, he's just dehydrated and hypothermic, but for some reason watching the coverage I just got this feeling of Munich all over again, they say every one lives, but they all end up dead.

It is sad to hear. Here on CNN earlier it was reported 1 was found alive and they were working to find the rest, then it was reported that all of the Miners were found alive. Now I turn it on CNN now to find out 12 are dead and 1 is alive out of 13 workers.

My prays go out to the families.

Actually, it was that they found one dead, and the rest were apart from him.

Rumor has it the first dead one actually created the ignition with the methane in the air and whatever he did to spark it. I assume he died instantly.

Very sad indeed. Mining is one of the most dangerous jobs to have in the world. It may be a living but it's a damn tough one.

My prayers go out to the families.

This isn't meant to come across as cold or heartless in any way, but I think it deserves mentioning....

Since this in no way relates to entertainment or technology, why is it being allowed? Because people died or what? I truly feel horrible for the families of these people, as they had to go through all that roller coaster of emotions, thinking their loved ones were coming back to them, and then suddenly having it all yanked away from them again. However, based on principle alone, what makes this subject any more worthy of being allowed in this forum over any other current event topic that would likely be shut down?

I'm not attempting to fan the flames mods, so please don't think that. I am merely wondering what exactly is the criteria you all are using to deem what is ok and what isn't, when it comes to topics not falling under the guidelines of the forum.

IMO, it's pretty disgraceful that all the major media outlets ran with the news that 12 miners were alive without proper, or accurate, sourcing. In their constant rush to always be the first to break major news, the media caused the families of those miners to go through hell last night. Sad.

I completely agree with you. Even though a lot of the news got out because of word of mouth (people overhearing cell phone conversations, etc), it is pretty inexcusable imo.

Agreed, but that's comes with the territory. The media always tries to blow things up to epic proportions. It's odd tho as the media is supposed to inform people and be reassuring in the face of disaster. They did a great job with 9/11 but since then it's been back to normal.

A perfect example was the whole DC Sniper situation. The media blew that up to such an extent that people can't help but BE scared. The same kind of thing is happening with one radio station in the Toronto market that talks about the gun/gang violence inflicting Toronto these days. You'd think that's the only story that matters if you listened to that station long enough.

Wow, late last night I was watching and they reported 12 were alive, and just one was going to the hopsital.

I thought, "They were stuck in a mine for two days and only one guy had to go to the hospital? Something isn't right." Now I wake up and see this. Wow.
