    Pray for my uncle

I got a call from my cousin tonight and my uncle is in hospital. He was getting stomache pains and it got swollen. He went to the hospital and the doctors found a lump but their not sure what it is. They say it could be a blood clot so they've put a tube in him to get the blood out.

If that doesn't work they'll need to do exploratory surgery.

Well things took a turn for the worse

The "blockage" is in his intestines. It's so huge that it has caused his stomache to swell up to huge proportions. The doctors are going to do surgery tomorrow. Apparently it's SO big that they have to cut off his intestines to get to it. He'll then go home with a bag by him for 3 weeks. After that he'll go back to hospital to re-attach it.

I said blockage with quotes because this sounds a lot like a tumour or some cancerous thing. The family unfortunately has a lot of faith in the doctors and aren't asking the right questions so we don't know for sure.

My uncle just recently turned 60 and all these bad things are happening to him.

This sounds a lot like what my father had my junior year of high school, he and the Dr. thought it was his appendix so he went into the hospital and into surgery thinking all thats happening is the appendix coming out....then i stop by my house on the way to football and my mom had left a messege telling me and my sister to get to the hospital, so we run out the door and drive crazy to get there...come to find out it wasnt his appendix it was that thing, so he had like 6 or 9 inches removed from his intestine wit hthat mass of whatever it is, and had to have the colostamy (sp?) bag for a few weeks....it was scary stuff but he was fine a few weeks later, and his was a suprise so it was worse for him waking up with tons of tubes and crap thinking he was going home that day minus his appendix and that would be all...

so at least the Dr.s know what they are doing and how they are going to handle it, everything will be fine and he will be back to normal in just a few weeks...

if I remember right my dads Dr. said had they known they were going into his digestive trac they couldve had him drink some stuff prior to the operation and it would clean him out so they would be able to simply re-attach the intestine instead of using the bag...something like that...so you might want to have him see about that

I hope that it is not colon cancer. My niece who is only six years old has a brain tumor called "Glioma Cerebri" which is a high grade tumor and only a miracle can save her. She cannot take anymore radiation therapy and there is not much the doctors can do to help her. It is very very sad because the symptoms are very severe like seizures, double vision, vomiting etc.
