Work outside. You're going to spend a 30-40 year career (most likely) indoors. Enjoy summers when you're young. When I was a "Little Shaver"... I worked at a Car Lot as a porter, a hung stucco on commercial buildings, I did some landscaping.... work outside when you're young if you can. Enjoy the weather... get a tan... Don't get stuck inside.

Re: Where would you work at?
Clay's right. Landscaping is a great summer job. I did it last summer and it's a blast, especially if you can get some friends to work with you.Comment

Re: Where would you work at?
You shouln't end your sentence with a preposition. LOL. "Where do you work at?" Eliminate the "at". Anyway, I'm about a year away from being a teacher, but right now I work at Red Lobster (server).Comment

Re: Where would you work at?
I worked at a lot of crappy jobs while in hs/college and Im glad thats waaayyyy behind me.
But my favorites were,,
Car Wash, you get to goof around alot and drive alot of different cars. (ca$h tips, $40 on average a day + whatever minimum wage was.)
Waste Management (my dad got me the job cause he worked their), I had to clean trailers that housed mens and ladies rooms, they were air conditioned and I always worked at cool events (Air and Water show, Michael Jordan golf classic (took a pic with Alan Thicke, yay), etc;
Wal Mart, I was a stockman so I would walk around the store and get stuff down for people or help them carry stuff out.
There is alot more but I would say those were my top 3 in the crappy job category.
Try and find something where you are working outside.Comment

Re: Where would you work at?
Carrying out groceries at a grocery store is an enjoyable job to have during the summer, nice weather months, plus you get to meet a lot of the ladies and converse with them as you walk in and out. If only it paid well, but then I doubt most of the jobs you're considering as part-time summer job are going to pay very much anyways. I did it for 5 years and enjoyed it, good exercise too.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Where would you work at?
Yeah. I used to work at Kroger (another regional grocery store chain) and bagging was... well... not the best option.Originally posted by KrioniqI worked at a grocery store called Ukrop's (the specific store is a regional chain, I highly doubt there's one in Kansas City). Anyhow, I didn't enjoy it at all, really; the work was sort of mundane (bagging groceries), although it didn't help that I'm not exactly a people person. You don't get paid much either.
Also was disappointed that the experience in bagging groceries isn't gonna result in me being an All-Pro NFL QB. I was kinda expecting that to happen after that one guy Kurt whats-his-face did it...
Seriously though, I'd personally avoid grocery stores. There has to be a better job, but me being a first-year college student, I dunno.Rose City 'Til I Die

Re: Where would you work at?
I would also recommend a landscaping job, its hard and it sucks but you actually get paid and if you get in with the right people they are usually pretty cool (ie: smoke weed all day)
Stay away from roofing though, I did that after I graduated high school as a summer job before I went away to school. Worst idea ever.Comment
