Off topic, but that's a pretty big misconception. Only 660,000 people live in Boston. Tons of people live in the surounding suburbs.

Every borough in New York cept Staten Island is at least nearly three times larger population wise than Boston.

Sorry, I just can't pass up a chance to bash Beantown.

Ya, I know what you mean. Even in the same state, a lot of WSU frats that are "cool" are jokes over at UW, and vice versa.

I'm in Alpha Tau Omega at North Carolina State. I know someone else from OS is in ATO at Troy also, can't remember his poster name though.

I was a KA at a school whose charter didn't go back too far, so it wasn't a buncha good ol boys. We actually had a fair amount of NJ (me), NY, and Rhody guys.

Yeah, the newer and/or more northern/western KA chapters are not as "good ol' boy" as some of the old sothern chapters.

agreed.. i was in Alpha Chi Rho at SUNY Brockport.. bunch of great guys (& got to see plenty of Buffalo Bills games as we worked there as a fund raiser).. but from last i heard, they were shutting down a chapter in Syracuse for the fact of a major fight where one Crow hit another person in the head with a cue ball tucked in a sock (made the news in the papers down here on LI)..

Whats up man. We are still working on our charter, they are telling us probably at the end of this semester. It's a lot of work, and alot of money. Hope things are good down there.

Fraternities are what you make of them. I knew guys that the fraternity was all they had and all they cared about, others....it was just another part of their lives. I, for one, had a great time.

                          GDI here...

The football team was my fraternity. I was still friends with many guys who were in frats. SAE's were pretty cool. Some guys on the team also belonged to different fraternities, and that caused a few problems sometimes on some Saturday nights. We had a huge conflict with TKEs my junior year--rumble on their front lawn football players vs. TKEs...lol what a great night.

Obviously 5 years later all that seems silly, but it seemed pretty important to act tough back then!
