Ephedra shows up on some drug tests, just depends on what they are looking for. When you go to take the test, disclose what you are taking and you should be ok.

EVen if it did show up, I don't think it's illegal, so you should be fine.

Alright, I didn't know. I appreciate the advice. This is one job that I definately don't want to mess up... so I guess I'm being overly precautious.

As far as ephedra... do you all think that it is harmful if taken at a low dose? I'd try something else, but this stuff gets me absolutely pumped up for pretty much the whole day.

I haven't really read up on "the whole world against Ephedra" so I guess I don't know what the reprecussions are that follow it.

Ripped fuel is extremely bad for ya, it will show up but most jobs arent looking for that in their drug screens.

Best thing to do is nip it in the bud before you take it.

Honesty is the best policy, just tell them they it might show up and what it is.

Like the previous poster said, even if it does show up it should be okay, but you don't want them to think you are hiding something from them.

I don't know a ton about ephedra, but I know it speeds it your heart which boosts your metabolism. I think that combined with hard exercise is where people get into trouble. The heart can only handle so much.

I am no doctor but I would error on the side of precaution.

What makes you say this? Please, I'm looking for anything at all I can. It helps out big time, so I want to know what the downfalls are.

Im jus speakin from experience when i took it and used it to work out i had problems. Then i found out i had an irregular heartbeat which i dont know resulted directly or indirectly from it. Im now taking creatine when i workout and i have a morning vitamin for energy i dont know the exact name i can tell ya when i get back to my house.

They have Ripped fuel without ephedra... would it work as well? Have you heard anything negative in regards to it?

The FDA issued a directive more than two years ago urging for the ban of sales of ephedra in the U.S.:

From the accompanying FDA press release, which is linked at the above page:

"The totality of the available data showed little evidence of ephedra's effectiveness except for short-term weight loss, while confirming that the substance raises blood pressure and otherwise stresses the circulatory system. These reactions have been conclusively linked to significant adverse health outcomes, including heart ailments and strokes."

So, if you want to risk a stroke or heart attack, keep taking the stuff. I'd rather rely on Red Bull, coffee, exercise or fresh air myself.

The banning of Ephedra was more of a politcal move then anything. If you abuse anything it can kill you. Infact its coming out now that people that had problems with ephedra, drank diet soft drinks or used artifical sweetners. This cause a bad drug interaction in some people.

You can still get ephedra HCL LEGALLY which is made in a lab for people with breathing problems.

I have taken 7 or 8 tests at work over the years. They give you a space on the form to list any medications or over the counter stuff you are taking.
