    Pay Pal Fraud

I just been a recent victim to some fraud activity.

I had 7 deductions today from my Pay Pal account coming to a total of $9,000. Most were instant transfer from my bank and a couple eChecks. I closed out all my credit card accounts and contacted Pay Pal. They e-mailed me a affidavit and they said all transactions will be reversed within the next two weeks.

My question to any of you that have been through this is if I go to my bank account tomorrow can I stop these transactions from going through since tomorrow will be just one day. If they deduct this much money and I have to wait two weeks to get it back I will be broke. Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

That sucks...I dont know, but I would assume you could contact your bank and they would work with you about it...id take any papers PayPal sends you to the bank and show them and maybe they can help you with how to handle the money problem.

      Re: Pay Pal Fraud

if they were from ebay, i highly recommend going to the forums and asking questions there.

were they fraudulent funds reversals? or just not as described claims? all from the the same people? different people? are they asking for proof of delivery?

maybe i dont understand but ask ebay for help, at their forums if it relates to them, http://forums.ebay.com/db2/forum.jspa?forumID=97

even if its not ebay related, they are usually helpful.

        Thanks for the link RubenDouglas.

This situation has me really frustrated. Pay Pal just sent me a e-mail telling me not to stop payment with my bank. If I don't than my account will me negative.

I just posted in Ebay, and tomorrow I'm going to go in to talk to a personal banker. Hopefully some positive becomes of this situation tomorrow.

And they were just withdrawls from my accounts to other accounts. A couple were the same people, someone from Indonesia. A couple were some weird company, and one was a associated with a item from Ebay.

That sucks man. I hope it gets resolved quickly. I've been getting alot of ebay/paypal scam emails lately. I can only imagine how much money they are stealing away from the elderly.

Well after spending like a hour at my bank, I was able to close down all future transactions. (Those Pay Pal ones didn't go through yet). Closed that bank account, opened a new one and transferred that money there. I'll be $-9000 something in the Pay Pal account but it won't be missing on my credit cards or bank which is most important. PP told me as soon as I send back the affadavit they will clear that off my Pay Pal account. Hopefully they do.

This whole experience was a real drag. Couldn't really sleep, was frustrated and stressed, had to close all my credit cards and bank accounts. So be careful guys!

Don't ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever sell anything on ebay to someone who wants it shipped overseas (especially places like Nigeria), and don't ship anything out or confirm any sale until your paypal has first been credited by the buyer.

my gf somehow had them get her debit card info (either through a pay pal scam or something, she doesn't know for sure), and it took like 3 weeks for them to clear everything and give her back all her money...I'm glad everything worked out for you, I know it's damn stressful and really weighs on you

                      Re: Pay Pal Fraud

Just a quick update. Got my financial part of life on track!

My credit card accounts were fine and new cards arrived. Got a new bank account up and running, and Pay Pal reversed the charges! After the reversals I had +$500. I learned my lesson linking my personal checking account to Pay Pal.

I had Pay Pal send me a check for my left over money to my home and I started a savings account just for Pay Pal transactions. That way after I get paid or whatever I'll just transfer that money over to savings account, and than transfer it to my personal checking. Also no more credit cards linked to my account either. Just that account with no balance, and Pay Pal buyer credit if I want to buy anything and Pay Pal gives 100% protection on that.

                      Thanks for the help guys!

DID any of yall by chance get weird paypal emails asking to confirm your identity or account? 100% of those are spam.. you enter your info and they steal your information.

thinking back on this, this couldve been the case.

Hearing stuff like this makes me want to close my PayPal and ebay accounts. I'm still worried about the item I just shipped for being a chargeback scam. This is why I sell privately or use ebgames to trade in games, the scam's on EBay our outrageous.
