My favorite FF ones are when there are back to back words and one should be capitolized and one shouldn't be and he flip-flops 'em.

I always spell definetly wrong. I don't know how to spell it, and I'm pretty sure I just did spell it wrong.

And I didn't know that rediculous is really ridiculous. I spell it wrong so much, I didn't even realize it.

I'm okay at spelling overall. I'm not perfect at it, but I think the things that I write are almost always easily readable.

I think that a Teacher should be the last person bitching about this issue, because the school system is becoming part of the problem, not part of the solution.

An extremely large number of public school systems in this country teach young children how to spell phonetically. I've seen classes as high as 2nd or 3rd grade where spelling is not taught, tested or counted against.

Until parents and educators start to demand more... we're going to continue to circle the drain.

And therein lies the problem. Aimee is one of the teachers who does demand more, but she's chastised by her superiors for being "too tough". That's why she's leaving the public school system after this year and seeking employment at a private school.

Oooh, bad move man... At least up here in Ohio. Pretty much, if you go private school, it's less pay and you pretty much get black balled by public schools.

I'm sure that if Aimee's students scored well on standardized tests mandated by the horsesh*t "No Child Left Behind" Act, her adminstration would love her, T.J. But since she actually wants to teach kids instead of just instructing them on how to take standardized tests, she's too tough.

Seriously...

I don't get it. It seems like when I was in HS, posting on message boards in the very early years of the internet, there wasn't NEARLY the problem with spelling as there is now.

My fiance is a teacher and she tells me everyday that kids are getting dumber and dumber by the generation. I think you can draw parallels between her assessment of our youth and the fact that it seems like you can't find a thread on this forum without MULTIPLE misspellings.

And I'm not talking about misspelling difficult words. I'm talking about typing "hear" when it should be "here". I'm talking about typing "their" when it should be "there". Stupid stuff like that.

Am I crazy or has anyone else noticed this?

I hear where you coming form TJ, but I wouldn't just say the kids are getting dumber and dumber, This is no offense to your wife, I 'm sure she is a great teacher. It's the teachers you should blame too, teachers ain't like they used to be, some just don't give a hoot anymore.
