Does Your Mother-In-Law Drive You Nuts Sometimes?

She lives only 5 minutes from us which is bad enough but she calls my wife like 10 times a day. She is so predictable, no matter what, each and every day she calls the house at 5 o'clock and asks her what she is doing. The same thing we do everyday at 5. EATING SUPPER! And then instead of saying, I'll call you back, she stays on the line and my wife has to tell her each item we are eating.

And god forbid we go out somewhere and haven't told her about it. We'll come home and the answering has like 30 messages. "Where are you? I'm calling 9-1-1. Your not answering your cell phone! I'm coming over!"

It's annoying but kinda funny at the same time. It's like she's keeping a daily journal of our lives.

Does anyone else have a mother-in-law like this?

    That would drive me nuts.

I could see my situation with my girlfriend developing into this. Granted we are only in college, and I'm not looking to get married anytime soon, but we have discussed our future before. Her family all lives in this real nice suburb part of Seattle, great place actually. But I mean, all of them. Her three sisters and their famalies, her two brothers and their famalies, and her mother and father, all within a 5-10 minute drive from one another.

Well, we were talking about where we want to live in the future and what not, and shes like, "oh, I have to live in West Seattle", "What if you get a great job somewhere else?" "Doesn't matter".

I could see myself being in this same situation. Family....

It's crazy. Like I said, I can read her like a book. Dead on 5 o'clock she gets off work and calls us from her cell phone. When the phone rings I sarcastically say, "What are you doing?" And sure enough that's the first thing she says when my wife answers the phone, never fails. Then I say, "LIVING OUR F*CKING LIVES!" My wife gets mad at me because I say it every time.

You should just unplug the phone for dinner.

My wife won't do it. She just can't. Not just with her mom but with anyone. She can't let the phone just ring. She has to answer it.

I don't have it so bad, as far as them living close to us or always calling. . My wife's parents live in North Dakota. My biggest problem is that since they don't have a lot of money, when my wife want's them to visit or whenever we get together for anything I end up footing the bill for everything.

Oh yeah, and I am currently supporting my wife's sister, who has a kid, no job and no prospects.

Wow...must love that wife of yours.

Footing the bill thing isn't so bad, but I don't know if I could be willing to support my wife's sister.

I have a Brother with those exact same "qualities"... we should hook 'em up.

My In-Laws are in Texas during the winter and Northern Michigan (Traverse City) in the Summer, so we don't see them too much. My Mother-In-Law is generally OK, except she is one of those old people that is pretty racist...but doesn't realize she is....

                  Like she'll say...

"There are a lot of Mexicans around us here in Texas. But, not normal Mexicans... Mexicans with jobs and money and stuff. It's strange."

That's why I supervise as much of her contact with my girls as possible.

It's the same sister in law we talked about a while back Clay. Remember when I had to buy all her maternity crap?

We should hook her up with Acid.

No, then I would probably end up having to support Acid also.

It's expensive enough paying her rent, food, utilities, clothes, kid stuff, etc.
