Your dad is young. I'm 29 as well and my dad is 63.

I'll definately say a prayer for you and your family.

Candy my father went through a similar situation as you are going through ... unfortunately though my dad's dad, passed away from a heart attack when my dad was in his late 20's, but the fact is, anytime someone you love has health problems, it is far too soon... you'll be in my prayers man and you know all of OS is here for you, and to help support you through your tough ordeal.

Just read through this today. Your entire family is my thoughts. Stay positive, and hopefully that'll give your dad determination to rehabilitate quickly. Above all, treasure your family every day.

Man, strokes and heart attacks scare the living heck out of me. Especially strokes. For the most part, you can make changes in your lifestyle to combat a heart attack, although sometimes it's just genetic. But with strokes, there's really nothing that you can do to prevent one. Sure you can eat healthy and excercise, but a stroke can still occur without any warning.

the most worrysome is that they can continue to happen, as was the case with my grandfather.. while he did survive the strokes, it took way too much from him to the point that basically left him without speech (just could say a few words)..

                          Thanks sportsdan and fish.

My dad came home today. He has gotten much better since this happened on Wednesday, but rather weak. The doctor was showing scans of my dads brain today, and my dad had over 10 mini-strokes. I guess it's time for my dad to make a few changes so this doesn't reoccur.

I would like to again thank everyone for their prayers and kind words.

I'm really sorry to hear all of this. I hope that your dad gets well... my aunt (50 something) had a stroke a couple years ago, changed her lifestyle and has become much more healthy. Hopefully your dad can do the same. Strokes are never good, but you can also look at it as a warning sign. My thoughts are with you and your family.
