out of curiousity, can someone tell me wat an 85% in Canada is, because here in Canada, anything above 80 is an A, i think maybe because its much harder to get an 80 here, but im not sure...

Since I don't think anybody answered you... I will try.
I moved to the States from Canada at the end of grade 10. For my first 2 years of high school I was getting between 85 and 92 in my classes. When I got here and for the past 2 years, I have put in even less effort and come away with a 2 year average of 97... so yeah it was a lot harder to get 80 there. Your 85 would most likely be close to 4.0 GPA if it was out of 4.0.

What happened to me was that they took all of my grade 9 and 10 marks and just put them down as was. This made my GPA look like crap because it shows my first 2 years as like 3.0, but my second 2 years as like 4.5... it's ******** and when I applied for college I had to go for like 3 different interviews to help them interpret my freakin transcript.

I don't ever recommend changing schools halfway through. It's an absolute train wreck paperwork wise. At the time even my parents were beginning to regret the move

This high school GPA stuff does not matter. I am 11 classes away from my bachelors degree with a 3.77 on 4.0 scale. This is while working a 40 hour a week job.

Likewise, after fall semester, I'll be 10 classes away from graduating, and am currently sitting with a 3.15 -- 26 classes, 77 credit hours, 3 C's.

While of course, lifewise, your college GPA is more important...don't discount grades from high school. You have to be able to get IN to college, and then the aid packages are grade/test dependent. It's those that make or break you.

I had a good high school GPA without weights, which hurt me. I had a good ACT, but because I was at the bottom of the entering class (my GPA on a 4.0 scale versus the 5.0) hurt my grant aid, and so two years after getting my engineering degree I'm stuck with around 25k in student loans to Uncle Sam.

wait...a 90 is an A?

I went to a college prep high school, so we operated on university grade scales. I have heard of lots of schools using 92+ or something similar, that's not uncommon. In college, though, you will most likely see 90 as the standard A.

just got my marketing degree...GPA was a 3.755 out of 4.0
