    Bad Sunburn!

So I'm the type of idiot that gets a little burnt one day at the pool, then proceeds to go the lake another day, stay out all day, don't use any sunblock and get a severe sunburn. I'm red as hell, tons of little blisters all over my shoulders, arms and forehead. Basically hurting all over. Last night sleeping was quite fun, I never got more than 1:30 minutes at a time. I got some solarcaine aloe extra stuff that help numb it some, layed in a cool bath for a bit, and thats about it.

My question is how many of you have gotten some pretty good sunburns? How long did it take to start getting better? What did you do to make it better?

    Any help would be awesome.

Laying in an "Oatmeal Bath" helps. I mean really, there isn't anything you can do besides try to keep cool. There are only temporary relief solutions, nothing but a waiting game right now bro. I've had sunburns my whole life, lol. If I am outside for more than an hour w/o sunscreen, I'm toast. Just try the "Oatmeal Bath", you can pick it up at any grocery/pharmacy store. Make sure you wear loose fitting clothes as well, so it doesn't stick and rub your burns. Enjoy, lol.

Aloe vera gel provides cooling relief and helps the skin heal faster. But time is your only true friend in this situation.

          Re: Bad Sunburn!

About a month ago I went to a park to read. I thought I didn't need any sunscreen so I didn't put any on. That was a mistake as the back of my neck was red the next day. One month later and the back of my neck is still red.

Luckily it's just a small area.

At this point I'm not sure if adding sunscreen to the area will help. I'm thinking about calling my doctor to see if he has any suggestions.

Take a hot shower or bath. It will draw out the heat and you'll feel a lot better afterwards. When I went on my SR trip to Cozumel last year I got terribly sunburned on my legs and my feet. My feet are scarred from the sunburn to this day. Trust me on the hot shower/bath thing. My sister is an ICU nurse and this what she tells me to do when I get burned at the beach.

Thanks for the info guys!! I heard different stories on the baths/showers some say hot/warm some say cool/cold. I tired laying in a cool bath yesterday, it felt ok, but didnt seem to help really. I think I'll take a hot oatmeal bath here afterbit.

She is right. It hurts like hell, but it does work. That and time is the only thing you have now.

Yeah if you can take the pain a Hot Shower does the trick.

Well I tried a little bit of everyones remedies. Overall putting aloe/solarcaine, taking a oatmeal bath, drinking water, not wearing a shirt for 3 days, and staying cool proved to be the best method. Now all the dark brown dead skin is peeling off. Its unbelievable how bad it looks on my shoulders and back. I look like a damn snake. Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

I'd suggest not traveling with Sam L Jackson on a plane anytime soon.

But glad you feel slightly better.
