sure he does. you've got it all wrong. it has nothing to do with money at all. it's all about Mike. he's always been that way and I can't imagine him changing at all. He's a good poker player, but a horrible person from what I gather. A will say that I think that a lot of it is just for show. It's working for him so far. Every time that he blows up on TV, he puts a large spotlight on himself. That's what he wants.

He's a poor Phil Helmuth imitation when it boils down to it, IMO. Helmuth, most of the time, is smart enough not to let his "act" effect his game. Matusow isn't. What's so bad about Mike is that he is a very poor sport. he will do anything to take someones mind off what they are doing. That's all well and good, but he goes about it in a poor way.

Poker players aren't people you want to take home to your mother for the most part. TV has just brought that to the mainstream.

Re: What the Hell is on Your Mind Thread

      Well today's the big day...

      AMERICA VOTES 2006!

Now before I get the inevitable "why do you care about American politics" reply let me first just say that I also follow Canadian politics and vote in the major elections. I don't much care for municipal elections. If I lived in the GTA and voted for Toronto mayor I would. I just find the American process so much more interesting. It can be quite nasty and dirty on the campaign trail but that's what I like about it.

Every election has an air of importance whether it be for Mayor right on up to President. Here in Canada things are more subdued. It's so subdued to the point that the current Toronto Mayor's race just hasn't sunk in with people. A radio station did an informal poll. The people asked didn't even know the names of the three candidates and about 80% of them said they won't vote. That kinda made me sad as voter apathy is a thing that's more assocated with the US then Canada but it seems it's crept into Canadian politics as well.

Anyways i'll be watching CNN's coverage of the elections. I have to say that 2006 has been the year of Lou Dobbs. Ten years ago he was just a financial news guru and now he's become a major critic of BOTH parties and co-anchoring CNN election coverage!

Prediction: The Dems will take the House by a slim majority and it'll be a dogfight for the senate. I have a feeling there's going to be lots of controversy there. Depending on the House results the Dems will take the senate by the slimmest of margins or it could be a one or two seat GOP advantage.

I just got pissed off.

Next time down the floor, the guy drives the lane, and I'm waiting down on the blocks for a monster weakside rejection. I mean, I throw him to the ground using nothing but the ball, lol. Well, he calls a foul, and everyone starts ragging on him saying it was clean, even his own teammates. But I gave him the ball and told him to check it up. 3 possessions later, the guy drives again, and I rotate over to cover him as he's driving, and I just explode up and throw another massive rejection, this time the ball just goes flying. It was nasty.

Anyway... moving forward, 2 games later... we met again... only this time, it was just NASTY. I was already p'ed off... and I received a pass on the right baseline, outside the 3 point line, I crossed my defender, and guess who was waiting down on the block for me? You guessed it... I rose up, over top of the guy as he was a little late getting there, and threw it down all over dude... it was NASTY! I never felt so freakin good in my life playing ball... the dunk rattled in, but just the fact that it was over top of the same guy made it all the more beautiful.

That just made my night. It's the first time that I'd played ina LONG time... now I'm hurting like crazy, lol.

i love when stuff like that happens up at the Y. i cant dunk but there is nothing better than tossing some punks shot. then hearing them mumble "...foul" softly.

That is the same reason that I gave it up more or less. I went to a private HS and I was recruited to go there by Coach #1. Well Coach #1 got an offer to coach in college that he couldn't turn down, so he left. Coach #2 (Coach #1's younger brother) took over, and made it point to make it his team so that no one would give credit to Coach #1 for the success we would have. Several of us who were recruited primarily has role players were the ones who got the shaft. It was bad when I was on the Freshman Team and watched numerous kids who had no business seeing playing time over me were getting considerably more minutes. No matter what I did in practice, it didn't matter, kids without the skills were getting quality time and I was watching. I'll admit this lead to an attitude problem, but I was 14-15 and knowing I was getting screwed.

Fast forward one year to JV tryouts. I broke my foot running a suicide (shoes had no traction and my foot rolled). The doctor said take 2 weeks, no big deal. That was unacceptable to Coach #2 and his semi-******** JV coach, and I was cut. However, one of these kids who didn't have the talent I did skipped school throughout the entire tryouts was just handed a spot on the team.

What really pissed me off and still really does, is that when I was in Junior High I played on a team that had 3 kids who went on to become 1st Team All State in HS, as well as another who was All Conference. So you can imagine we were damned good, and on this team, a team I can say confidently would've beaten my freshman and JV teams by a comfortable 30 points, I was seeing quality playing time and started maybe a quarter of the games and definitely saw a lot of big minutes. I know I didn't get worse, I just fell victim to the horrible politics of Coach #2.

Now comes the moral of the story if you've read this, I said I was a role player, my role was basically to contain one kid from our rival HS. For whatever reason I was able to completely stop this kid, something not many could do. I think it was because I man handled him down low, he was definitely taller and quicker, but his thighs were smaller than my biceps, so I could just throw him around with ease. Well my junior year my HS advances to the state title game against our rival, and who do you think was the difference? Yeah, the kid I could shut down. Funny how just maybe Coach #1 knew what he was doing, and Coach #2's arrogance cost us at least 1 state title.

                        EDIT
As arrogant as that sounds, just trust me the kid they left on BHS' star player could not and did not do defensively what I could have done. Maybe he did a little more offensively than I could have, but I knew how to defer, he didn't.
