its weird that you said that because lately ive been thinking the same thing just minus work. not really sure when it happend but with wake bball not doing well lately and the panthers not playing to their potential i havent really gotten into the nfl this year and im not even that excited for college bball. its especially b/c growing up sports have totally been my life. havent really even be able to enjoy the season wfu and michigan have been having in football as much as i should. i even quit playing school bball this year. just weird

It all started back in '99 when time was hard, North Carolina Central but we called it the yard...

It doesnt matter if you get garbage minutes man, you just got to put it all on the line every time you get out there. A friend of mine (also a junior on JV) couldnt dribble and couldnt shoot. But he played his *** off. Played excellent defense, fought for rebounds, dove for loose balls, etc. No type of offensive ability, but because he did those things so well, he ended up starting and provided us with a spark whenever he was in.

Just keeping working at it and you'll get better. And remember, its not just about you. Its about those other 11 guys on the bench and trying to win some games.
It's not so much that it's embarrassing, but I only have one of my friends down here with me and that sucks. It's also lame that I'm getting garbage minutes and I'm the laughing stock of the coach. There's still like 3 unoccupied varsity jerseys, but his opinion of me probably won't change considering he won't see me play anymore, and some sophs will probably get it. I'm tempted to ask him what I'm not doing good enough, what the flaws are in my game, and what I can do better to earn more PT, but he gave us a huge speech on not whining about playing time, so that's out the window.

Well I'm back from my cruise. Had a great time. Got to swim with the dolphins in Costa Maya. Lost about $265 at the casinos, and probably could've been more. I officially gave up slots, but I'm officially addicted to Roulette. It's the greatest game of all time. It got so bad, I actually had three consecutive nights where I dreamed about playing. I'd wake up thinking about the odds if I laid down certain numbers.

I didn't eat nor drink as much as I thought I would. I felt a little weird if I had drank alot in front of my parents.

The cold front that came through the South yesterday, also hit us and we had winds of 50-60 miles per hour, with 7 to 10 foot waves. The boat was really rocking. I felt a little queezy. Most people did.

Anyways, I missed a great weekend of college football, but also avoided watching the Patriots lose to the Jets (cringes). How we lost to a team that could've even beat the Browns is beyond me.

Also missed seeing Oral Roberts beat KU, as well as some other pretty decent upsets.

Overall, I had a great time but I'm glad to be back.

I'm most likely going to be playing JV as a junior. My coach hasn't let us know exactly yet but I figure that's where I'll be. I'll actually be able to play and get more minutes than the garbage time minutes I got as a soph on JV last year.

No offense man, but stop bitching about this, and do something about it. Your whole attitude SUCKS.

When I was a freshman in HS, I earned a Varsity jersey... why? Because I gave 110% every day, in practice, in games, in the weight room, on the track for conditioning. What did that earn me? A little respect from the coaches. They were constantly cutting me down, because I was scrawny as hell, and didn't have a jumper... but I did the things that gave us a spark. I got in for 47 seconds total in our first 5 games... Two of our guys, in the fifth game, got ejected, both guards... The sixth game of the year... two guards out... guess who got the start? That's right... I did. Because I had worked my butt off and showed my coach that i cared about the team, and was willing to work.

From that game forth, I started every game for the rest of my career. I had 22 points, 8 assists, and 4 rebounds my first start... for the rest of my career, I didn't once let up in practice... If you do bad... WHO CARES? Get back in the gym, and work on your game, and give it 100%. Don't mope around, as you'll never improve that way. You're thinking WAY too much. Suck it up man, if you really want to be part of a team. Basketball is a team sport, and you're in it for THE TEAM.

:y4: If you think 7 to 10 foot waves are bad... try 40' waves... I was on the Sensation (Carnival Cruiseline) right between the two HUGE hurricanes of 04. It was crazy intense. I never get seasick, but I was sick as a dog.

When I took my customary nap for the afternoon/evening I was listening to the news talk station here. I got a bit angry. See the news director for the station was filling in for one of the hosts as he's on vacation and she basically lashed out against grown men who still play video games. She used every single cliche and stereotype in the book and when one guy defended the playing of video games she basically laughed him off and said that he was calling from his mother's basement.

She had a very skewed view of the adult gaming phenomenon and while the issues she brought up are quite real it's still the minority. There was even a woman who called in and said how her marriage was ruined because her ex had his friends over at their house every single night for a week straight and how he had no time for her. I felt sorry for the lady but again that's the absolute minority yet the hostess played it up like this is common stuff.

After I awoke from my nap my father informed me that his work was donating some books so I got to go through some boxes of books I have. I found some books that I thought were missing. I didn't offer those books for donation tho. Still it's always nice to give away some extra stuff you don't need and it goes for a good cause.

Yup, it was the Holiday. Yeah, the open bar was where we went swimming with the dolphins in Costa Maya.
