    Re: Charlie Horse

I got really bad cramps once in my legs wen i tried to pull ups after b-ball. About a second after i pulled my legs up so i could hang whole leg cramped up badly. I usually cramp up wen i lie down after basketball but its only 1 calf so i usually stand up and let the cramped one kinda hang there and relax it.

When you say "point your toes upward", is that like, towards your head or just straight up in the air(if you are laying in bed)?

Ah yea, my bad bro, I mean up towards your head up not just up towards the sky if you are lying down.

Remember, it is up towards your head.

I've gotten plenty of charlie horses without hitting my leg. After exercising or something (poor stretching/inflexibility) will give you a charlie horse real quick.

The worst is when I was in HS in a huge 13-passenger van on the way back from a bball tourney and I got them. There was really nothing you could do cept scream at the coach to pull over on the side of the highway so you can get out and stretch it out.

Stretching and being a in shape are the best ways to avoid them, IMO.

I got one of these while watching TV the other day. Couldn't bend my leg for half an hour. It hurt like hell, and then I'm trying to explain how I got hurt watching TV.

You forgot to mention the fact that you were watching porn and in the midst of jacking it, you're tendon's tightened up when you climaxed. That explains getting a charlie horse while watching tv. Case Solved.

LOL, those are the worst. You never see 'em coming and your just chilling so you're definitely not expecting one.

I've found the best thing is to stand up immediately and stomp on the floor w. the foot/leg that the cramp is in. You look like a total jackass, but it almost immediately stops the serious pain.

I got these all the time but never knew to do this.

Tried it tonight, and the pain was instantly gone.

Regardless of what they're called...I've gotten them in my right calf, and I seriously couldn't walk for DAYS without feeling a searing pain shoot up and down my leg.

That was always my defenition for a charlie horse. I hope I wrote my explanation well enough to convey what I was thinking LOL.
No, a charlie horse is a leg problem, but as kids we did say that! lol The muscle tightens up and hurts like mother. I used to get them all the time and they hurt. The only thing I could do was lay down and try to stretch my leg out. And that usually work, but if it happens when you are walking that thing will knock you down.

Also he is right about the toes that does work, but some times you are in so much pain you forget about that or you can't even move lol!
