    I understand that.

I think I put in nearly 60 hours most weeks and only get paid for 40 (salaried) so my manager knows he owes me. If I have to take a 1/2 day, I'm still getting paid as a salaried employee. No big deal for me personally. Mileage will vary on the person and their situation.
    ****! No overtime?

I guess its different for everybody. I've gone with a lawyer and remained in the clear. But I can definitely understand where you are coming from.

Yeah no overtime sucks, but I guess that's life. I'm guessing you aren't salaried because I'm pretty sure most salaried workers are exempt from OT.

What's OT? I haven't had OT pay in about 8 years.

I am really interested what type of lawyer would actually take a speeding ticket case to be honest.

Small firm and solo litigators. I'm a litigator in a mid-sized office, and I've heard of many guys taking these kind of cases. They basically agree to get paid half the value of the ticket, they meet you for a few minutes prior to the hearing, and do their best to get you off or at least plea you down to a violation that won't raise your insurance. No guarantees, of course. Sometimes these guys will head to the traffic sessions without clients, but pick them up there prior to the hearing.

Of course, the procedure in your state will have a big time impact on how things are handled.

Wow, I really didn't think people used lawyers in Massachusetts for speeding tickets.

then you must have never got a speeding ticket before. I got one, and almost immediately, got lots of spam mail at home regarding lawyers that would represent me in court, for nice fees.

I actually had to use one due to me not being able to go back to the county. The ticket was $10 for driving 80 in a 70, but the court fees on the ticket were $200. The lawyer got it thrown out due to improper equipment, but I still had to pay court fees. He was actually paid through my father's union. Go unions!

It didn't affect my insurance one dime. It's all a racket anyways. Why else is the official "fine" for the offense $10, but the fees are $200? I didn't even have to show the court or anyone that I actually had improper equipment, or that I did anything to fix it.

Wow, some lawyers committed some serious ethics violations if you were getting mail about their services (been studying all week for the MPRE). I actually got one a couple of years ago, I represented myself and got it thrown out on improper procedure by the police. I personally cannot imagine using a lawyer for a traffic violation unless it was DUI, DWI, or something else that carried possible criminal sanctions.

it's probably the court selling personal information out to 3rd parties like the DMV does. Ethics be damned. It was only a day or two before I was getting brochures from lawyers about representing me in court. They know it's a racket, but at least I didn't have to pay for a lawyer directly.

I was wrong anyway, I misread Model Rule 7.3(c).
