    Re: Yesterday-I lost my father..........

Lump me into the "also lost my father" category as well. My dad passed away while I was still in high school. Brain Cancer got him. It's a damn tough thing to go through, but something that will make you a much stronger person.

Like others have said, it's going to be easier for you to deal with if you talk to others who have gone through the same thing. If ever you need someone to talk to, I'd be happy to.

        Re: Yesterday-I lost my father..........

I've been coming back to this thread all day and although it isn't easy, reading all the responses from everyone here helps more than words can express. I lost my Mom 5 years ago on Xmas day. Now,it is time for my Dad to join her. I think back through the years at the time when I went out on my own and didn't have much communication with them. I was caught up in my own life. Then Mom passed on. That's when I found out what a friend I really had in my Dad. We got close but I still think that it wasn't quite enough to make up for the lost years when Mom was around. Anyway-for anyone here who doesn't live close to your parents or who has been out of touch- Call them, visit them. I'd give anything to be able to do that again. Thanks again to everyone who responded to my thread. Everyone's comments touched my heart in a good way :-)

You will see them again. I'm sure if you could see where they are at now, you would be happy for them. Just close your eyes and talk to them. They will hear you.......

I am so sorry for your loss... I, too, lost my dad (3 years ago), and the kind thoughts and words from the brethren here helped out a lot. I'll echo the sentiments of others, if you ever feel the need to chat, let me know. It's always been tougher for me around the holidays...

My thoughts to you and your family, coffee....

A similar situation happened to me before my father died. He was very ill with ALS and I planned to visit him for the last time but a very short time before I left for the visit he died.

My dad died a little over a year ago. He was diagnosed with cancer and died a month later. It was a shock to my whole family.

The thing that reminds me the most of my dad is myself. I know it sounds corny, but I have changed alot since last year and I constanly think to myself "damn my dad would've did/said the same thing". It makes me feel good to know that.

I can't say its going to be easy, but stay strong and just try to follow in your fathers footsteps.

I can honestly say I know exactly what you mean, and I've done the same thing. When people would say "you sound like your father" when I was a kid, I'd laugh about it. Now when it's said, I take it with complete pride and honor.

I couldn't have said it better myself. My dad is and always will be my hero, and when people say I remind them of him, that is the biggest compliment anyone could possibly give me.
