Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

4 days on the NO and I like it....so far. I'm curious to see how my system will react three weeks down the road.

I will say that it has helped me with my focus and energy levels and the workouts have been great.

I'm 41, 5"8" and I weigh about 170-175 with about 9% body fat. My workouts consist of all upper body one day and lower body the next with plyometrics, sprints, and 1 endurance run a week. In other words, I'm not working out to "get big". Lean, strong, and fast are the priorities as I still compete in some local leagues around the city. It's fun to still blow past the 20 somethings

I think I may have had low energy levels due to some mild depression. Not being that motivated at work, no energy in the afternoon, yada, yada. This stuff has helped me so far.

On a side note. I think my stomach finally got used to Muscle Milk and other protein shakes. After numerous dutch oven sessions with my girl my stomach finally feels normal.

How long did it take the rest of ya'll to adjust to protein shakes?
      Not that long

I got a bit of gas (LOL) when I started but now I don't even noticed. Of course, I live by myself now (compared to living in a dorm room when I started) so I might be rippin them all day.

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

I actually started working out recently and have been going for about a month. I can see results in that I'm getting definition, but I'm not sure about my weight because I don't have a scale, but I was at 119 right around when I started. I'd like some tips on any solid program, but this is what I have been doing:

          Day 1: Chest/Biceps/Abs/Lats
          Day 2: Lower Back/Legs/Abs/Lats
          Day 3: Shoulders/Triceps/Abs/Lats
          Day 4: Chest/Biceps/Abs/Lats
          Day 5: Lower Back/Legs/Abs/Lats

It's only 5 days because I lift in my high school's weight room and it isn't open on weekends.

Here's an example of my diet, because I'd like tips on that. Here's what I ate today:

4 apple Toaster Strudels with icing
          1 toaster oven pizza
1 peanut butter sandwich (4 slices of bread)
          2 cans of tuna
          1 soda
          1 glass of iced tea
          1 cup of hot chocolate

It was actually a down day for me, but that's around what I eat every day.

It's awful. No fruits or vegetables? The two cans of tuna and PB sandwich are the only two good things in there.

Re: For all you guys wanting to gain muscle, size, etc.

Those preprepared pizza's are terrible for you- you want to get those out of your diet ASAP. They're loaded with sodium and saturated fat. The toaster strudels are good once in a while, but they are also loaded with too much simple sugars. More complex carbs are better i.e. fiber rich carbohydrates. Get some eggs into your diet for breakfast- some cereals are preferable.

Cut out the sodas- I've gotten good enough where I'll only drink soda about 2-3 times a month. Iced tea is doable. The hot chocolate, when taken at night, is just a ton of added calories you won't be able to burn off.

Replace the soda with a healthier alternative. I know its lame, but I'm obsessed with Vitamin Water. Costco had too good of a deal.

Like ehh said, get some fruits and veggies into your diet ASAP. The antioxidant properties of these will keep your bowels moving cleanly and not be inflamed/irritated. Fiber is key too. You'll feel a hell of a lot better too.

Check the label on VW, that stuff is such a scam it's not even funny.

33g of sugar per bottle (16 oz), it's more or less a can of soda (39g per 12oz).

The best route is water, I drink about two gallons a day. Unsweetened tea is good as well.

So true. That and gatorade are the dumbest things for non-athletes. People drink them like water and don't even realize the amount of sugar they are consuming.

Yeah, I used to pound gatorade and then one day I looked at the label and said "Damn, this ish is really not good for you". I think that's what made them come out with G2 which isnt that terrible for you, basically just watered down gatorade. I usually only drink Propel now after hooping. The only VW that I have seen that isnt too bad for you is the Green Tea one.

I used to love a Dr. Pepper with my lunch but since cutting back on the soda I haven't really missed it. I tried the new Coke-Zero and to me the aftertaste was crap and I generally like the nutrasweet flavor.

On a side note...got into a "disagreement" with the misses on Saturday about the myth of eating late/before bed

I almost quoted some OS posts..lol

I'm not perfect. I love my Vitamin Water! It's my vice I'll drink like a quarter of one of those every other day so its not that bad.

That's a really small part of my drinking though- I drink a ton of water everyday and that is easily my go to drink. Tea is nasty as hell for my tastes

Random question, do any of you guys take any vitamin supplements?

Right, if you have to have some type of sports drink I'd definitely go w. Propel.
