Re: Transferring colleges
I'm a freshman at communtiy college, second semester. I didn't know what I wanted to do after last year(senior year), so I decided to save some money and just go to CC.
However, It sucks *** here, and I want out. And UMass was one of the colleges I was looking at; others included UConn, SUNY Buffalo, and Rutgers.Comment

Re: Transferring colleges
Well then...maybe I'll see you at orientation, lol.
Note: I also looked at, and thought about, and got into UConn. I gave my spot to NYJets. - Not really, but he was waitlisted, I told them I wasn't going and he got in, so I like to believe I helped him get in -Comment

Re: Transferring colleges
I'm not exactly sure what year you're in, but I went through a phase of thinking of transferring after my first semester of college. There were several reasons. One, I played football and our team just finished an 0-9 season and our coaching staff was fired. Two, I had several friends at the school, but being a quiet guy I felt left out at times. And finally, I was going to school in Washington, 500 miles away from home. I wasn't really homesick, but being closer to home had some appeal.
I showed up to classes in the spring and let my experience that semester determine what I would do in the next few years. Well, I ended up having an incredible semester, an experience I wouldn't have traded at any other school. I joined a fraterinity (sucks that you don't have that opportunity) and have made lifelong friends that started during that semester. And football ended up turning around also, as our team went 1-26 my first three seasons but 5-4 my senior season and 4-5 and 7-3 the past 2 seasons.
My suggestion would be to see what this semester brings to you. If you're still unhappy, follow through w/ the transfer. I 've always felt that the spring semester was a lot more fun than the fall. I'm not quite sure why, but it always seemed that way."You should only drink to enhance your social skills." -Barney GumbleComment

Re: Transferring colleges
If you transfer in the middle of your major be prepared for some of your classes to not transfer with you, which ultimately means you just wasted time and money. If anything, you should stick it out and get your AA before transferring because everything will transfer with you.The true fan always know his bounds, unlike the wagon-jumping hounds,

Re: Transferring colleges
I used to go to a small college in North Carolina called High Point University, and I felt like you did so I transferred here to Alabama, even though its farther from home (VA) I really like it here. Although it took about a semester to get ajusted to a much bigger school, new people etc. it was easier becasue they had a chapter of my fraternity here so that helped out alot. All of my credits transferred, it seems as though as long as you go to an acreditted school you will be ok. It is going to take me a semester longer to get out but that is only because I changed my major. Good luck with all of that stuff its not as bad as you think esp. if you are not happy where you are.Member of the OS Rams ClubComment

Re: Transferring colleges
Figured I'd update everyone.
I was accepted to UMass, and am going to be transferring there in the fall.
The best part? I got accepted into Comm College, UMass' widely recognized and praised Honor's Program, and will be entering into that as well. It's widely known as one of the top honor's programs in the country, so it really helps out quite a bit lessening the blow of a "lesser education."Comment
