Tony Gwynn Stadium and my dorm (pics)

I just took a very small number of pictures last night at the SDSU Aztecs home opener last night, but I wanted you guys to get a glimpse of how cool it is here at my dorm, provided that I actually would have a chance to watch the baseball (and softball) games from my very window, as unfortunate as it was not making the final cut this year.

This first pic is just a basic shot of some of TGS. On the green wall over the right field fence is an AZTEC BASEBALL WALL OF FAME list, with players on it like Tony Gwynn, Chris Gwynn, Mark Grace, and Travis Lee:

This next pic is of the baseball game again, but from a view where you can see the pitcher, batter, and my residence hall in the background. The name of the building? Chapultepec (Chappy!):

Because we were actually playing the same time as a softball tournament, it was a nice little thing there being able to go back and forth between games if one chose to. Anyway, I walked over to the softball field and took a shot there with Chappy in the background as well (sorry that it's a little blurred):

This next shot is the walkway in-between the third base foul line of the baseball stadium, the first base foul line of the softball stadium, and the front of Chappy again:

And finally... the view from my dorm. Now remember... this isn't all that I can see. This was all that I took, though. I can actually see both stadiums in their entirety, but that would involve me taking more than one picture. Plus, the lighting was screwed up. I can pretty much see the entire school as well, but I think the stadiums are a nice touch. By the way... they are closer than they look, seeing that I had to be as zoomed out as possible with my camera. When watching a game, the players, ball, and even player voices are all very distinguishable:

So uh, yeah... just wanted to give you guys a little taste of the life in Chappy.

By the way, Chapultepec is 11 stories high, and I'm on the tenth story.

Blzer do you know what school it is that is wearing the black and red uniforms? They look like something out of the early 1900s.

That would be my Aztecs. Yes, I was pissed about those uniforms as well (unless you aren't, but I am). Today they wore black with a fat red stripe down the sides of their jerseys, but with white pants. They looked better, but I'm waiting for the all white jerseys.

By the way, they are playing Santa Clara this weekend, and I played baseball my entire life with their third baseman (John Karcich) and one of their relief pitchers (Steve Kalush). It was pretty cool to see them play.

I actually like it. There's nothing like nodding to the past and traditional baseball wear

Maybe if you have time you can take a pic of all the different uniform combinations for uniform freaks like me

Nice place. Sorry to hear you didn't make the team. I was under the impression you had a scholarship to play baseball there. I guess I was mistaking.

I don't mind the upper body apparel... but I don't like pants that aren't white or gray. Also, when you wear red cleats (a few guys on the team were), it doesn't look good either.

Unfortunately, this isn't my digital camera. I guess I could ask my friend if I can borrow it for every game I go to haha but otherwise I'll just have to describe them to you or something.

By the way, did I say they had a red stripe today? Sorry, I meant white.

I was wondering about that if you were on the team (read over the rosters on the UT a week ago).

I missed the opener, not sure if I'll have the opportunity to go to any of the games, but those are pretty cool pics there Blzer.

Damn, I need to move to San Diego; that looks beautiful. Is it expensive to live there (if you aren't in a dorm?)

That looks like a nice beach resort more than a dorm room, with a killer view as well!

Looks like NC gets the **** end of the stick when it comes to dorms.
