The best way to get them to go outside is this... Time how long it takes them to have to go after they eat. Then once you find their routine, you take them outside just before that. If you see the dog going in the house, DO NOT PUNISH IT! Pick the dog up, which will stop their progress, and take them to your designated potty area. Then when they finish outside, give them positive re-enforcement with praise and a treat.

NEVER train your dog by fear. The dog won't stop going in the house, they'll just go somewhere you won't see it. You gotta make the dog want to go outside for you. It took me all of 3 days to train my puppy to go outside, then 2 days later I had her knockin on the door when she needed to go out.

Just remember to use positive re-enforcement, it's the best way... by FAR!

That's the absolute truth right there. I've got 3 dogs (American Eskimo, Pug and Jack Russel mix.) and 4 cats..

I'd also take your dog out right after she wakes up and like he said, usually right after they eat. Congrats!

Last July 20th, she was 11 months to the day. Hasn't gotten much bigger since then, but she looks the same.

EDIT: Notice how intent she is on watching my every move. That comes from her wanting to please me at all times... and that comes from positive re-enforcement training. =)

I love dogs and I never was able to have one in the apartment I lived in for the last 17 years, well up until month ago I moved out of mu current apartment and I'm living in a huge lost apartment in the same town, the best thing is I can have a dog, So I just adopted the cutest 3 month old Pit Bull Mix, she's great I this dog...This is really my first dog I can call my own..

I love dogs and I never was able to have one in the apartment I lived in for the last 17 years, well up until month ago I moved out of mu current apartment and I'm living in a huge lost apartment in the same town, the best thing is I can have a dog, So I just adopted the cutest 3 month old Pit Bull Mix, she's great I this dog...This is really my first dog I can call my own..

I love dogs and were starting to look for one the last few weeks. It's kinda tough trying to find a good dog especially with kids. We've been leaning towards a ****zu, we had 2 of them before the kids were born.

I'm not a fan of Pitbulls, too many horror stories that I have heard about.

How long until you trade the dog in for another dog?

Maybe he will trade the dog in for the XBOX 360 Elite when it releases since the Halo 3 beta is looming.

lol.. i told my g/f that when we get a dog, it cant be something i can trip over!

I've been around "big dogs" for most of my life (Labs, Golden Retriever) so I have gotten used to them.. my last dog, my bud, was a English Springer Spaniel.. loved to go into the water as a pup, but later in life stopped.. he used to always point to the back door to go out, & of course my mom taught him how to beg.... for some reason any time he got in trouble he would always run to me...

Sounds like you got a nice mix of breeds. The only gripe is that it's a female? They're the worst when they're in heat.

I prefer having a female.(and the jokes can start now! ) I have them fixed and unlike males...they don't want to lift their leg and "mark" everything(including in the house!)

I know, and about the pottie training, I have hardwood floors in my new place and the pup took a crap today, thank god it's not rugs...Whats the best way to get them to go outside, I walked the dog like 5 times today and she never went outside, she went twice in the house, I told her NO.

First thing is when you go outside with the dog, make sure you say "go potty" or something similar. When they go, make sure you give lots of praise. Make a HUGE deal out of it. Don't come inside until the dog goes. That may mean you are out there 15-20 minutes BUT the dog will soon learn that that is why he/she is out there. You really need to take it out all the damn time. 5 times is not enough in one day for a pup. I took my dog out every 15 minutes for 2 weeks. But I live in a house and its easier.

Just make sure not to spank the dog or rub its face in it if the dog has an accident inside. It's going to happen. The more consistent you are with what I mentioned above, the faster the dog will be potty trained.

I have 2 dogs, a rottweiller mix and a black lab. I have had the rott for a few years now the lab I got in November. They are both very energetic and just love attention. They are my buddies and I wouldn't trade them for the world.
